The Female CEO's Personal Bodyguard
Chapter 2852: Why Do You Keep Dragging Me Into Your Mess?
Jorren Jaramillo and Grayan Darlington both showed a strange, absurd expression on their faces. Their gazes met, and each of them felt a bit of disbelief.
Were they being robbed?
Jorren Jaramillo and Grayan Darlington, Sect Master and Deputy Sect Master of the top Refinement World sects "North Star River" and "Southern Skyfire," were actually being robbed?
Jorren locked his eyes on the Black Robed Man. "So what you mean is, you’re going to rob us?"
The Black Robed Man answered calmly, "It’s not wrong if you want to understand it that way. Of course, you can also see it as a ransom. You pay with materials of sufficient value to redeem your lives. With your status and artifact refining strength in Star River Sect and Skyfire Sect, I think both Star River Sect and Skyfire Sect will be very happy to pay such a ransom."
Jorren understood. This wasn’t a robbery; this was a kidnapping!
Two Peak Great Land True Immortals had been kidnapped, and the other party wanted the two sects to pay ransom to buy them back!
This was simply the joke of the century!
Jorren and Grayan exchanged a look, each seeing the grave look in the other’s eyes.
From the moment they were trapped in here, they’d been observing their surroundings, trying to find flaws. Yet up to now, they still hadn’t found anything of value.
Though they hadn’t struck yet, as Master Refiners they could more or less tell from the changes just now that they’d already been penned into an independently existing space. Getting out wouldn’t be easy.
In a predicament like this, there are usually only two ways to escape: forcibly smash open the space, or find the magical treasure that’s maintaining the Spatial Lockdown and find a way to suppress it—at least make it unable to function normally. Then naturally the space would show cracks, and they’d be able to tear their way out.
Yet the Black Robed Man was just standing there lightly in front of the two of them, utterly fearless of the terrifying pressure coming off their bodies, and even saying it would be easy to kill them. That made both of them extremely wary.
The other party clearly knew their identities and strength, yet still dared to make a move. Unless he was some madman with no regard for his own life, otherwise he must be sure of himself.
Grayan narrowed his eyes slightly. "Since you say killing us is easy, then why not just kill us and take our stuff? Why bother with all this? With our identities, we carry no shortage of Spiritual Treasures and precious materials."
The Black Robed Man shook his head. "Your magical treasures are indeed quite good, but they’re not of much use to me. I’m not interested. What I want isn’t those magical treasures, but some materials. I can refine them myself. Of course, I might also have you two lend a hand refining a few small things. As long as you agree, you’ll both return safe and sound."
Jorren shouted angrily, "If you want to take things, then show some real skill. Beat us first."
Grayan nodded, agreeing with Jorren’s stance.
Even knowing the other was powerful, the two Peak Great Land True Immortals couldn’t possibly submit just because of a few words. If that got out, people would laugh their teeth out.
The Black Robed Man wasn’t surprised. He nodded slightly. "Understandable. You won’t cry till you see the coffin. I’ll have to let you face death head-on before you make the right choice."
With a sweep of his wide sleeve, a pitch-black, plain-looking stick flew out. In midair it suddenly enlarged, transforming into a colossal Metal Stick, and then came crashing down in a seemingly ordinary arc.
Jorren and Grayan’s faces changed sharply. Both simultaneously pointed with a finger, each directing the strike toward their own Life-bound Magic Treasure.
Their two treasures shot into the sky, slamming heavily against that black stick—only to be brutally smashed flying.
Jorren and Grayan both let out a muffled groan of pain, their faces suddenly turning deathly pale, fresh blood seeping from the corners of their mouths.
Carson Flores, hiding behind the two, watched this scene and felt his heart sink.
Was this Black Robed Man a Quasi-Saint?
Back in the Mist World, when the Space Bomb went off and tore everything apart, this same Black Robed Man had charged headlong into the blast, relying on that Green Ancient Bell to forcibly block the explosion and save a group of people. Otherwise, that explosion might have wiped out all of the Black Robed Men.
Now, with just a single strike, he’d overwhelmed Jorren and Grayan—two fighting together with Peak Great Land True Immortal strength—unable to withstand him. Clearly, his power was far above theirs.
Carson really was unlucky. He’d finally managed to escape the Mist World and get far away from them, only to run right into them again now.
Hearing the Black Robed Man’s demand, Carson more or less guessed his intention. Before this, they’d prepared plenty of materials and had been continuously sacrificing and tempering them to assemble an Altar. But that Altar had been completely destroyed by him with a Space Bomb—along with all the materials.
Whatever their goal was, once the Altar was destroyed, they couldn’t complete it. So they needed to seek out materials again and rebuild the Altar. And when it comes to artifact refining materials, what sects could compare to Star River Sect and Skyfire Sect?
Snatch Jorren and Grayan, these two representative figures, in one stroke, then force them to hand over enough materials, and even make them help refine the crucial components of the Altar to rebuild it!
Once Carson understood the reason, he felt even more helpless. You want to build your Altar, fine—but why keep dragging me into it?
What did I ever do to you?
