The fairies I flirted with in the game became real?!

Chapter 292 It's a Dragon

At dusk, the setting sun hung low in the western sky.

Outside Shi Tang Village, the adults who had been busy in the fields all day were gradually returning home.

The first thing all the adults did after returning home was to call their children back.

“Han Liuhuai! Come back home quick!”

“San Yazi! Come home for dinner!”

In the glow of the setting sun at the entrance of the village, six or seven children squatted by the ditch, playing with mud. They used the slurry to build a dam, blocking the stream, then dug a hole to let the water out and watched the dammed pool with glee, laughing heartily.

One after another, adults arrived at the entrance of the village to take their children home, leaving only two boys with no one to collect them.

Their parents had gone to the city to shop today and had not yet returned home.

The younger brother glanced at the slowly descending sun and couldn’t help saying, “Brother, let’s go home. The adults say there are demons in the bamboo forest, they’ll come out and eat children after dark, so we shouldn’t be outside when it gets dark.”

The older brother, about ten years old and with hands full of mud, declared, “It’s not dark yet, we’ll go home when it does.”

It was at this moment that their neighbor, Aunt Wang, came running over furiously, glaring and scolding.

“You two little rascals, not going home even when it’s getting dark!”

“Didn’t your parents tell you before they left that you aren’t allowed to stay outside after the sun sets?”

Aunt Wang, ferocious as a furious god, ran over with her body shaking like a water bucket, twisted one ear of each child, causing them to cry out in pain.

As she scolded, she dragged the two children towards home.

“Your parents asked me to help keep an eye on you two rascals before they left, have you had enough of living?”

“Five children have already died in our village, you don’t want to live anymore?”

“Who knows how many demons there are hiding in the bamboo forest outside, even the village dogs dare not go near it!”

“Wait at home, see if your parents don’t beat the life out of you two brats when they get back.”

Aunt Wang scolded and acted fierce, but she didn’t dare to stop walking.

She dragged the two children towards the village by their ears, often looking back at the land outside the village.

Behind and to the side of the village, there was a vast bamboo forest.

Originally, the villagers relied on the bamboo forest to work as bamboo craftsmen, and their craftsmanship was well-known for miles around.

But in recent times, something strange has happened in that bamboo forest, and people have seen terrifying black shadows wandering amongst the bamboos.

Even children had mysteriously disappeared, only for their bodies to be found deep in the bamboo forest, their internal organs eaten clean.

The village dogs, cattle, and sheep, were all too scared to approach that bamboo forest.

Even the fiercest dog, once dragged into the bamboo forest, would be scared to the point of immobility, lying on the ground shaking.

The villagers all said that there were demons in the bamboo forest.

Suddenly, everyone was feeling endangered and dared not go near the bamboo forest. As soon as it got dark, every household would lock their doors and stay indoors, not venturing out without reason.

Although Aunt Wang was known for her fierce disposition, she dared not provoke the demons.

She dragged the two children by the ear, leading them into the village.

In the distance, behind the continuous mountains, the sun had completely set.

Even the afterglow of the sunset was gradually fading from the horizon.

The chilly night wind swept through, and a layer of hazy grey gradually enveloped the land.

But it was then that the two children being dragged along by Aunt Wang suddenly cried out.

“Monster! The monster’s out!”

“No, it’s not a monster; it’s a dragon! A dragon!”

The two shell-shocked boys stared outwards toward the village.

All at once, the trees in the forest shook violently.

And then the ground seemed to tremble lightly.

Aunt Wang, already on high alert, trembled at the commotion and nearly jumped in fright.

She looked in the direction pointed out by the children, and her eyes bulged in disbelief.

Not far from the village, within the mountain woods, burst forth a giant serpent, white as jade, with two small horns on its head… or rather, was it a dragon?

Aunt Wang stood, dumbfounded, watching the behemoth charge out of the forest, plowing through the fields by the village, crushing all the shrubs and straw in its path.

A long serpentine track appeared instantly amidst the previously green fields of straw.

In the blink of an eye, the massive, terrifying creature slid by just meters in front of Aunt Wang and the children, and barrelled into the bamboo forest behind the village.

“…Evil… evil spirit?!”

Witnessing this horrifying sight, Aunt Wang was so scared her mind went blank. She instinctively picked up the two children and ran towards the village, crying and screaming.

“The demon’s out! The demon’s out!”

“Oh my God! It’s a giant serpent!”

Aunt Wang cried and shouted, so frightened she stumbled and fell, even losing her shoes.

The two children were squeezed in her embrace, struggling desperately, rolling several times on the ground with her.

The other villagers quickly heard the commotion and came out armed with pitchforks, kitchen knives, and hoes, rushing to see what had happened.

But all they saw was Aunt Wang dragging the two children, running and wailing.

The onlookers were all stunned, “Where did this demon come from?”

They instinctively looked towards the bamboo forest behind the village but saw no sign of the demon.

Having returned to the crowd, Aunt Wang finally let go of the two children, collapsed on the ground, her face pale as death, and pointed toward the bamboo forest.

“I saw it with my own eyes, the demon ran into the bamboo forest.”

“It was a giant serpent! It could have been twenty or thirty meters long, maybe even fifty or sixty meters! It was so long, so terrifying!”

“And it had two horns on its head!”

Auntie Wang described the terror of the evil creatures vividly.

However, two little children shouted loudly, “It’s not a snake! It’s a dragon! It has four legs, the kind you see in plays!” Your adventure continues at My Virtual Library Empire

“Yes, a dragon! I saw it, each of its feet had three toes, it was a three-clawed dragon, not a snake!”

The two children and Auntie Wang stood their ground, causing the villagers to look at each other in bewilderment.

But at least they were certain that some kind of terrifying thing had come to their small mountain village.

The creature had run into the bamboo forest and might really be the demon that hid there, consuming children.

The villagers hesitated, debating whether to venture into the bamboo forest to investigate.

Just then, a chilling scream erupted from within the bamboo forest.

Immediately after, the ground shook violently.

It seemed that a terrible battle was taking place within the bamboo woods.

The villagers hurried to the earthen wall at the outskirts of the village, staring fixedly at the bamboo forest behind them.

They saw the bamboo in the forest trembling wildly, and the trembling was moving towards the edge of the village.

Suddenly, two dark, slender, and flat creatures ran out of the bamboo forest.

As they ran, they howled, the piercing screams making others’ scalps tingle.

Some villagers immediately recognized the two monsters.

“…Yes! That’s them! The ghostly shadows I saw in the forest before, they are this thing!”

The villagers finally saw the true form of the evil creatures.

One woman even spotted her child’s longevity lock hanging around the neck of one of the demons.

“Demons! It’s these two demons that devoured the insides of my Tiger!”

The sudden appearance of demons from the bamboo forest startled the villagers.

They finally saw with their own eyes the creatures that had preyed in the bamboo forest and claimed the lives of five village children.

But everything unfolded far too quickly.

As the villagers were still shocked by the appearance of these two creatures, an even more astonishing scene occurred.

Behind the wailing and sprinting demons, the bamboo trees of the forest were flattened one after another.

An enormous white shadow burst out from among the bamboo.

Its ten-meter-long body was so massive in the eyes of the mortals that it resembled a gigantic beast.

The fearsome momentum with which it barrelled through was so terrifying that all the mortals trembled, nearly falling to their knees.

Yet the horror that emerged from the forest did not pay any attention to the nearby villagers.

Under the frightened and astonished gaze of the villagers, it charged past and caught up with one of the demons on the road outside the village.

Then, the Flood Dragon roared, and crimson heavenly fire fell from the sky, landing directly upon the demon.

The black, slender demon moved quickly, but in the blink of an eye, it was engulfed in heavenly fire, screaming in agony as it rolled on the ground.

The other demon, upon seeing this scene, let out a sharp, frenzied scream and charged toward the giant beast.

But the Flood Dragon’s gaze turned cold, and another burst of heavenly fire descended from the sky, striking the demon head-on.

In an instant, both demons were transformed into balls of fire, rolling on the ground and howling in pain.

However, after only a few breaths’ time, the two demons were motionless, their bodies limp on the ground.

Seeing this, the massive creature walked forward contentedly, opened its gaping mouth, and directly swallowed the two demons.

Crunch—crunch—

The beast’s crunching sounds were piercingly crisp in the deathly silent wilderness.

The villagers watched the terrifying behemoth with a mix of reverence and fear, worrying that the giant creature might charge at them next.

Yet the beast, content after consuming the two demons, left without even glancing at the people in the village.

Not until the giant creature’s figure disappeared into the woods and was gone for a while did the group of villagers begin to speak, trembling.

“Has it… left?”

“Such a terrifying giant creature…”

“A dragon… it really was a dragon! It had legs, and horns too!”

The villagers murmured to each other, filled with fear.

And among the crowd, someone remembered.

“This dragon… it seems to be… the Jade Water River God? I’ve heard people say that in the Jade Water River, there is a White Dragon God who often saves people…”

“The Jade Water River White Dragon God? I’ve heard people mention that too…”

“Is it really the river god?”

The villagers glanced at one another, and upon realizing that the other party was a river god known for saving people, they finally breathed a sigh of relief.

“So it was the river god, no wonder it left after eating the two demons.”

“It must be the River God manifesting his divine powers to subdue the monsters!”

“Those damn demons, even carrying my Tiger’s longevity lock on them… oh… my poor Tiger!”

“Ahem… If it really was the River God manifesting, helping us subdue the monsters, does that mean we in Shi Tang Village needn’t worry about demons anymore?”

“Can we enter the bamboo forest now?”

The villagers looked at one another, exchanging glances.

Soon, underneath the night sky, a cheer erupted.

“The River God has manifested!”

“Thank you, River God!”
