Chapter 159: Moving To NextRound
Wild cheers erupted among the crowd seeing the qualifying students coming out of Sanctum of Despondence.
Josh wiped the sweat off his forehead and finally breathed the air of relief seeing students, finally getting back safely and asked the staff to check the student’s conditions.
Since the events happening in the Sanctum of Despondence can’t be shown on the screen, no one knew how bitter the fight was still Josh asked to get the information about the fights and events that occurred inside.
…..
While many were basking in glory under loud cheers for getting over the preliminary rounds, Lucas was getting treatment.
His injuries were not quite serious.
Alas, it got worse due to some idiots.
After exiting the Sanctum all of them ran toward Lucas as if he just came after fighting a deathmatch.
Roan and Parth ran over and jumped on him and hugged him too tightly while Fredrick was about to do that but stopped in his track as he heard Lucas scream while Charles stood behind and facepalmed, seeing their naivety while thinking just what kind of weird group he got into.
Lucas didn’t want to drink the potion now and wanted to heal himself naturally.
The nurse applied some medicine to his wounds and wrapped some bandages around him applying many pastes which gave a cooling sensation.
Both Roan and Parth averted Lucas’s cold gaze while Parth whistled and spoke”Hey, Roan congratulations on passing.”
“Ohh, Roan you passed, Congratulations. Hein,”
A vein bulged on Lucas’s forehead as he shouted”Don’t change the topic, you bastard.”
“Hey, Lucas calm down” Fredrick patted Lucas’s back and further added”Don’t you know him better. While other brains progress with age, Parth’s brain seemed to regress.”
“What!” Parth wanted to refute but he flinched seeing Lucas’s sharp gaze.
“Haaaa.” Lucas sighed and looked at Roan and asked”Hey, Roan the skill we brought was of any use?”
Roan nodded and spoke, “Yeah, it was because this skill was able to get to the next round.”
“Hey, what skill tell me, tell me” Parth pleaded like a small child.
“Lucas, what skill are you talking about, is it the one which can help you control the vines?” Fredrick asked curiously.
“Where did Roan get that?” Charles asked.
The skill Roan used was the skill version of the spell Morgana used to restrain the monsters, the one she used in the dungeon when Lucas entered his first dungeon.
Initially, Lucas thought about buying and using the skill for himself as he knew he can’t rely on the system for skill anymore.
Unfortunately despite Lucas’s compatibility with many natural attributes, the skill wasn’t compatible with him.
Since Lucas can use earth and water, it should have been compatible but it wasn’t. Maybe it was because of other reasons or factors which he has to find out.
So, he gave the skills to Roan to use.
One day after hearing about the skills and seeing, Lucas dozed off in his thoughts, Roan answered “Lucas, gave it to me.”
“Okay, how much did it cost?” Parth asked curiously.
“70 million” Lucas muttered subconsciously.
“What!!”
Lucas was snapped out of his thoughts after hearing everyone’s screams.
“Lucas gave you the skill without asking anything,” Parth asked.
“No, we had a deal. He asked for me in exchange for his skills” Roan answered in a monotonous tone but it cause a great storm in everybody’s hearts as they looked at Lucas with a shocked expression.
Parth and Charles almost stumbled and fall on their back while Fredrick flinched taking his steps back from Lucas.
Lucas frowned seeing their unusual behaviour and his eyeball narrowed as he went through what Roan had said.
“Wait! You are taking it wrong” Lucas tried to explain but his voice fell on a dead ear.
“Lucas, I didn’t think you have such taste and you are interested in Roan…”
“Still, as a Friend, I wish you good luck and I will give full support and blessings for your future ventures,” Parth spoke in a stern voice making a serious expression.
Lucas looked at Roan to clear the misunderstanding but seeing his expression Lucas can see that this bastard was quite oblivious to what was happening over there.
Lucas looked for Fredrick’s help and averted his gaze while only god knew whether Parth was joking or not, but he looked at Lucas and spouted more nonsense.
And to make the matter worse, Lucas heard the sound of something falling down and he looked at the door to see Willson and Briana looking at the seeing with the scene with their jaw wide open.
“I think we should come back later,” Wilson spoke. p.a.n.d.a n.o.v.e.l
“God dammiitt! You all are taking it wrong” Lucas yelled and was finally able to clear out his name and explained, that he signed a contract with Roan to work for him.
…..
After the preliminary round of the first year, the preliminary round of the second and third years was held.
It occurred similarly to the first year and in the same dungeons used by the first year except there was no Sanctum of Despondence which took many by surprise and many asked the reasons for it.
Even Lucas wanted to know why the Sanctum of Despondence was used in their case and whether his being assigned to the Sanctum of Despondence was just a coincidence or it was prearranged.
He tried to inquire about it and asked the Princess but even though she doesn’t know anything about it, she promised to inform Lucas if she found anything about it.
The Inter-Academy Cup will be held for over a month.
After each day of the preliminary round and a gap, the single battle matches will be held each year extending over each week and at the last, it will be time for the hero’s support course competition while they will try to showcase their talent.
Lucas sat on the stand and enjoyed the fight scene as well as observed his senior.
In the third year preliminary round.
Lucas pitied the group who were in the Princess group.
Julian didn’t show anyone a single shred of mercy and froze over an entire region of the dungeon, freezing almost half the students in ice, rendering them useless.
The average strength of the third year range from a peak of 3-Star to mid-4-Star so how can they take on a 6-Star like her.
Lucas met the member of skies who congratulated him and Aaron gave him some tips. He shared his experience when he attended Horizon about the battles.
There would be many many matches on a single day in the first round of one to one matches, so one had to take care not to tire himself entirely in one fight.
….
Following through a deep crowd on the path, Lucas and Jay walked as they saw the stalls that were selling many unique things.
Lucas looked at Jay staring at the ice cream stall with glowing eyes.
Lucas chuckled and patted Jay’s head and spoke”Do you want to eat ice cream?”
Jay just nodded his head while enjoying Lucas rubbing his head. Every time Lucas rubbed his hair, he felt a sense of solace and tranquillity which always remind him that he is not alone anymore and had a brother to depend on.
Lucas brought ice cream and handed it over to Jay who started to lick it hurriedly as if it is going to disappear.
Lucas was about to reprimand Jay but his phone rang.
Lucas looked at the phone and saw it was coming from James and received.
“Hey, Lucas how are you doing?” James asked.
“I am fine. So what happened?” Lucas asked while giving his ice cream to Jay who stared at it for a moment but decided to accept it anyway with a cute expression.
“Nothing, I just wanted to congratulate you on passing the round and give another good news?” James spoke with a joyful tone unable to contain his excitement.
“Ohhhh!What happened?” Lucas asked curiously.
“Do you want to know how much we earn over the week?” James asked.
Gulp
Lucas swallowed his saliva and asked, “How much did we earn?”
“Over a week, cutting the cost we earned about 23 million,” James spoke full of happiness.
“Holy sh…sheesh” Lucas was about to curse out of happiness but changed his words in the mid of the sentence seeing Jay hearing their conversation.
Though Lucas knew the Inter-Academy Battle Cup had contributed to the part of the reason for their high sales and it may fall later but it was enough for now.
Lucas’s target was to earn between 7-10 million R in a month but getting a head start will surely boost the sales afterwards.
After discussing some things, he hung up the call but another call came up and it was from Charles.
Lucas’s brows furrowed and he picked it up.
Hello, Charles what’s up?” Lucas spoke.
“Lucas came to the ground, our fighting schedule will be updated soon?” Charles spoke.
“Okay, I didn’t know it was already noon, by the way, why…”
Before Lucas could ask why Charles called him as he found it quite unusual, Charles spoke”I was the one called you because those three idiots have been wasted after drinking?”
“What!! Why the hell were they drinking at day. Still, never mind it must be that shit chatter work,” Lucas spoke pinching the spot between his eyebrows.
“Yeah, it’s Parth work. Don’t worry I will sober them until you came and beat some sense into them.” Charles spoke and hung up.
