Chapter 119: That’s Precisely The Point.

"Okay, so should we call this official?" Bryce asked, looking from Dave to Vincent.

"Yes," they both answered at the same time.

Silence followed.

It was heavy without being uncomfortable, settling over the three of them as they absorbed the decision they had just made and the reality of what they had willingly stepped into.

For a brief moment, none of them seemed to know what to say next.

Then Vincent broke the silence with something that caught Bryce completely off guard.

"Dave, Bryce was hugging another man right outside my office door."

His voice sounded almost casual, but beneath the words was a tone that was not quite playful.

Bryce’s eyes widened as he stared at Vincent in disbelief.

"What?!" Dave asked, his expression immediately becoming serious despite the almost playful way the accusation had been delivered. He turned toward Bryce. "Who was it?"

"Oh my God, Vincent, give it a rest. I didn’t even hug him back. It caught me off guard too."

"You didn’t push him away," Vincent insisted, as though that particular detail was still bothering him.

Bryce stared at him for a moment, unable to believe they were still discussing it. His mouth opened, then closed again without producing a response.

"I was going to pull back when you stepped out," he finally said.

"Who was it?" Dave insisted, apparently far more interested in knowing the identity of the man than in accepting Bryce’s explanation.

"A friend," Bryce answered.

"Friend?" Vincent repeated. "Since when are you friends with Wilson?"

"Yeah, Bryce. You never make friends," Dave added.

Bryce looked between the two of them, finding their united interrogation increasingly ridiculous.

"Since I worked with him long enough to know that he could actually be a good friend. And what’s this? Interrogating me? Ganging up to attack me? I’m going to make friends if I want to."

There was no real irritation in his voice. If anything, the complaint carried more amusement than annoyance, especially when he realized that both Vincent and Dave seemed to have reached the same conclusion about his nonexistent social life.

"I don’t have friends because I think of you as my best friend and my boyfriend," Dave cut in immediately after Bryce finished speaking.

"Me neither. I don’t have any. You’re actually enough for me," Vincent added.

Bryce stared at both of them.

"I’m not doing this with you right now."

He stood, clearly deciding that leaving the conversation was easier than trying to defend himself against the two men who had apparently decided to gang up on him.

"I’m gonna see Adam and help him with whatever work he needs."

He had barely taken a step when Vincent reached out, caught his hand, and pulled him back.

The sudden movement made Bryce stumble, and he landed on Vincent’s lap.

"You’ll work from here," Vincent murmured near his ear. "I’ll ask him to bring the design here."

Bryce glanced back at him, caught somewhere between amusement and disbelief.

"I might need to discuss some things with them. Are they going to stay in this office as well?" He asked.

Vincent intentionally ignored the question.

Instead, he looked toward Dave with an expression that immediately made Bryce suspicious.

"Also," he began, his tone making it clear that he was speaking directly to Dave now, "Bryce is more interested in other people’s love stories than he is in his own. You should have heard him speak about it."

Dave stared at him in disbelief.

"Oh my God!" Bryce groaned.

He turned toward Vincent, and this time he could not stop himself from laughing.

"Are you actually serious?"

Vincent only looked at him, apparently having no intention of taking back what he had said.

Dave’s expression shifted as he looked between them.

"Are we making this that boring? Or are we the ones who are that boring?"

His voice sounded closer than it had a moment ago.

Bryce turned around and realized that Dave had begun approaching the couch.

His anticipation rose as he watched him come closer, only for a knock at the door to interrupt the moment.

Vincent groaned and ignored it.

A second knock came almost immediately.

No one knocked on his door twice.

The fact that someone had done so irritated him more than anything.

"This person sure got some nerves," Vincent muttered.

Before he could do anything, however, a cautious voice came from outside.

"Sir, Mr. Anderson, the owner of the project is here to see you."

Vincent’s expression hardened with irritation.

"Who told him he could just come into my company whenever he likes?" he muttered.

He turned his attention back toward Bryce.

"Bryce, could you please find Adam and fix whatever place they are stuck at? That old man is going to nag endlessly when he finds out there’s no progress."

He finally released Bryce, allowing him to get up.

Bryce looked back at him.

"Oh? Now I’m free to leave?"

His tone was openly sarcastic.

"You’re going with Dave," Vincent said immediately.

Bryce stopped and stared at him.

"Are you my boyfriends or my bodyguards? Should I be alarmed about the decision I just made about the two of you?"

"We’re both, and there’s nothing to be alarmed about. It’s only around that Wilson man. He obviously has his own thoughts about you, and he seems like he can’t help himself."

Vincent’s answer made Bryce realize that he had actually been serious about the whole thing.

He had sounded as though he was joking when he first brought up Wilson, but apparently, the jealousy and concern beneath his words had been genuine.

He did not argue with either of them again.

He simply started walking toward the door.

Dave caught up with him, but before they could leave, Vincent called his name.

"Dave."

Dave stopped and turned around.

Vincent had already risen from his couch.

"Any position you would like to work in this company? What did you actually study for?" Vincent asked.

Dave didn’t give the question even a thought; he answered immediately, as though the answer had always been obvious.

"Don’t bother. I never took my school seriously. I was never interested in it, and I’m definitely not good at anything around a company like this one. But I have something I can do best. Aiming bullets, conducting businesses in the shadows. I was actually thinking about..."

"Don’t even think about it," Vincent cut him off before he could finish.

"Yeah, that’s not going to happen," Bryce added, as though the two of them had already reached the same conclusion without needing to discuss it.

He looked at Dave with open disapproval.

"Are you actually serious? You’re not going back to that shitty mafia stuff."

"I was just thinking about it, not..."

"That’s precisely the point. Don’t even think about it," Vincent cut him off again before he could finish.

Dave looked from Vincent to Bryce.

Their expressions were unmistakably unimpressed.

Without another word, he raised both hands in surrender, mirroring the exact gesture Vincent had made earlier.

"Okay," he muttered.
