"Oh dear, what strange sound is coming from the young mistress’s room?"

Mrs. Min walked to the room where Min Baozhen had lived, and stopped in front of it, caught in emotions triggered by the sights.

As she stopped, everyone heard a rustling sound coming from inside the room.

The various ladies present exchanged glances, seeing the embarrassment in each other’s eyes.

Which household hasn’t encountered inside secrets of the inner chambers? Just hearing the sound, they guessed a rendezvous between a servant boy and maid.

But for everyone, it was unexpected that the maids and servant boys of the Su Mansion were so bold, meeting secretly in the late mistress’s courtyard.

These things should be privately dealt with by the host family; no one wants to expose them to outsiders.

They’d had enough gossip at the Su Mansion today, and didn’t want to hear about the staff’s indiscretions.

Everyone wished to pretend not to hear and quickly leave.

But the maid next to Mrs. Min shouted loudly.

The shout made it awkward for everyone to continue walking.

Mrs. Min lifted her chin, indicating to her maid to push open the door.

She was determined to see who dared to commit filthy acts in her daughter’s room.

When the Lu Family insisted on bringing everyone to Min Baozhen’s courtyard to admire the flowers, Mrs. Min suspected Lu Family was up to something, but hadn’t imagined they’d use such disgraceful means.

Without thinking, if the Su Mansion’s staff was rumored to have moral issues, how could the host family escape responsibility?

Lu Family stood behind Mrs. Min, looking too humble to dare say anything.

Mrs. Min squinted slightly, no matter what Lu Family planned, they were still too inexperienced in front of her.

Tong Huaqiong couldn’t help but glance at Lu Family, oddly, Lu Family didn’t seem to want to intervene or look surprised, instead, their eyes were eager.

If there really were maids and servant boys involved, it was the Su Family’s reputation at risk; Lu Family would be blamed for poor management.

Lu Family didn’t fear disgrace or bearing a bad name.

It only meant everything was arranged by them.

What were they plotting?

Among the entire Su Mansion, Lu Family would gain the most by plotting against Su Chengmin.

Tong Huaqiong’s mind buzzed.

Tong Huaqiong quickly calmed down; if Su Chengmin were involved, it would mean he had no fate with Gu Taohua. If someone was foolish enough to be plotted against by their not-so-smart stepmother, it showed he was useless.

With a clatter, the door swung open, and as everyone expected, a man and woman were inside embracing.

But it was not a maid and a servant boy.

"Yiner, why are you here?"

Lu Family squeezed past Mrs. Min, disregarding everything, and her exclamation clearly reached everyone’s ears.

Even if they didn’t want to witness the scene in the room, they couldn’t leave in time.

"Yiner, Yiner, why are you here."

Lu Family rushed to Lu Yiner’s side.

Lu Yiner’s body was soft, eyes dazed, face flushed, clothes half-revealed, yet Lu Family didn’t ask anyone to cover her, instead shouting fearlessly for everyone to know.

Tong Huaqiong frowned.

In such large families, the young lady is always accompanied by maids, even if Lu Yiner was residing temporarily at the Su Mansion as Lu Family’s niece, she wouldn’t be without maids or act alone, let alone have a stranger nearby.

Only one possibility remained: maids were intentionally sent away.

"Where are the young lady’s maids, quickly give her something to wear."

Mrs. Lin called to the Su Mansion’s maids, saying how improper it was for the young lady to be lying with a man half-exposed like this.

Lu Family’s management skills for household affairs indeed!

The maids in the Su Mansion didn’t move, waiting for Lu Family’s orders.

Gu Taohua, unable to bear it, took off her outer garment and handed it to the maid Su Qing, who then covered Lu Yiner.

Lu Family appeared flustered.

Mrs. Lin shook her head and sighed, instructing her maid to lead the young ladies to the back garden.

"Who is this scoundrel? How did she get in here?"

Lu Family finally fixed their gaze on the man beside Lu Yiner.

The man faced away from everyone.

In both clothes and physique, he bore great resemblance to Su Chengmin.

"Looks like the adulterer," Mrs. Min remarked knowingly.

Tong Huaqiong understood; if anyone knew Su Chengmin best, it was Mrs. Min.

Given Mrs. Min’s words, this person merely resembled Su Chengmin.

Lu Family coldly laughed inside, knowing Mrs. Min would see the adulterer’s face and cry later.

Tong Huaqiong’s gaze shifted to Lu Family.

"Come, come, capture this scoundrel for me." Lu Family shouted to their maid, "This has happened in our mansion, summon Old Mrs. Su and Mr. Su."

The maid followed orders.

"All of you ladies, for the sake of my Yiner’s reputation, please stay as witnesses. My Yiner cannot be wrongly accused without cause."

The ladies felt awkward.

It was Lu Family herself ruining her own reputation.

Some ladies shook their heads lightly, wondering whether Lu Family knew how to handle affairs, wasn’t the first step to suppress it? Before others spoke, she announced it loud and clear for everyone.

Was she truly protecting Lu Yiner’s reputation, or had other plans?

Unable to wait for Old Mrs. Su and Su Shihang’s arrival, Lu Family left Lu Yiner to confront the man on the ground.

She grabbed his face and turned it around.

The light in her eyes was as excited as catching an adulterer.

"Su Cheng..."

Lu Family’s performance intended to be dramatically played out; her expression cracked, voice abruptly ceased.

This was not Su Chengmin, but a completely unfamiliar man.

Lu Family felt as if trapped in icy snow, limbs going cold.

Mrs. Min frowned and mockingly said to Lu Family, "What filth dares appear in my daughter’s room?"

"Your niece secretly meets a man in my daughter’s room, you Su Family don’t even respect the deceased’s face."

Lu Family’s face turned pale, silently cursing trouble.

Lu Yiner was counter-plotted by Su Chengmin.

This person wore clothes like Su Chengmin, had a similar build; how could it be a coincidence?

Lu Yiner gritted her teeth at Mrs. Min, "You planned this, didn’t you?"

Mrs. Min was nearly amused with anger, casting blame her way in broad daylight, still thinking herself too kind.

"Everyone, listen to her words. Her niece meets a man in my daughter’s room, yet she blames me. Do I know her niece?" Mrs. Min pointed at Lu Family and scolded, "Lowly little whore, your niece steals men under your nose with your indulgence. Perhaps you brought the man intentionally to taint my daughter’s path of rebirth."

Lu Family didn’t dare talk back under Mrs. Min’s scolding, saying to everyone, "Ladies, there are some family matters needing handling, please return for now. Once resolved, I will invite you back to the mansion for drinks and a play to apologize."

The ladies thought, they wouldn’t dare return for such drinks and play.

Thoughts diverging, initially discovering Lu Yiner, why didn’t Lu Family send everyone away, instead dragging them as witnesses? Now she wanted them gone?

All at once, they realized this play was planned by Lu Family, with only a mistake in selecting the adulterer.

Mrs. Min naturally wouldn’t let Lu Family have her way, saying, "Don’t leave, now that you’re here, let’s witness together, lest the Su Mansion falsely accuses anyone."

At this moment, Lu Yiner gradually woke, her almond-shaped eyes fluttering as she coyly and softly called to the man on the ground, "Cousin Chengmin."
