The Evil God Summoned by the Saintess
Chapter 645: The Heart-like Monster, Terrifying Speculation
Chapter 645: Chapter 643: The Heart-like Monster, Terrifying Speculation
The holy light illuminated everything around, allowing Hilia and Elina to clearly see the central object in the vast underground space was divine grace.
It was a…
Massive heap of flesh!
An irregularly shaped pile of flesh forming an indescribable gigantic monster, hundreds of meters tall.
In front of it, Hilia and Elina seemed like tiny ants.
This enormous monster of flesh lay on the ground, emitting a sound akin to a heartbeat.
With each pulsating sound, its body expanded and contracted, seemingly like a heartbeat.
And with every throb, the surrounding pollution alternated.
Hilia frowned as she watched, and couldn’t help but glance at Rose beside her.
Only to find Rose seriously examining it too.
She couldn’t help but ask, “Lord Rose, what is this?”
Rose said, “Not sure yet, let’s take a closer look. You move in a bit closer, see if it reacts to your presence.”
“Alright.”
Hilia complied and prepared to move forward.
Elina suddenly reached out, grabbing her arm.
“Hilia, don’t go!”
Turning back, Hilia looked at Elina, finding her tense and staring intently at the monster ahead.
“What’s the matter?” Hilia inquired.
“It’s… it’s terrifying.” Elina’s face turned pale, shifting between fear, bewilderment, and inexplicable disgust.
“What do you mean?”
Hilia curiously observed Elina’s condition, wondering if she knew something that even Rose didn’t mention.
“I don’t know.” Elina bit her lip, “I don’t know where this feeling comes from; it might come from the blessing of the Gods… It fills me with fear and dislike… it’s very dangerous.”
Hilia pondered, “A divine blessing? Or is it the legacy from the elves that’s causing it?”
“I don’t know.” Elina shook her head.
“Lord Rose, do you know?” Hilia turned to inquire of Rose.
Rose glanced at Elina and replied offhandedly, “It’s probably an issue with the legacy of the Elf God. In my impression, the Elf God wouldn’t react this way. It’s likely that after the Era of Calamity, some ‘Evil God’ dumped a lot of pollution underneath the Elf Forest, nurturing it with the life force of the forest and the Holy Tree, incidentally creating this thing as a ‘heart’ to cycle pollution and life force, which is why the Elf God hates it.”
Pausing, Rose continued, “As for the fear, I’m not sure; only by probing what exactly this thing is can we understand.”
“So we still need to go over and take a look!”
Hilia wondered why Rose needed her to go over for a clear view, but she didn’t argue. She patted Elina’s hand and said, “Since we know nothing, let’s go over and take a look. If you’re scared, I’ll go alone.”
“N-No way.” Elina’s lips were pale, her voice trembling yet firm.
Hilia was about to say something when Elina continued, “If we’re going, we go together. How can I let a companion venture alone? That’s not how adventurers act.”
Adventurers, even at a time like this?
Hilia was speechless.
She summoned a magic puppet and said, “Since you’re coming along, let’s go together. Prepare yourselves, let’s go see what this thing really is.”
“Alright.” Elina plucked up the courage and nodded firmly.
Thus, fully prepared and with scrolls in hand, the two advanced slowly, gradually approaching that peculiar heap of flesh.
The globe of light illuminating the entire underground space, under Hilia’s control, also proceeded forward slowly.
This wasn’t the light of a Purification Skill, just a normal illumination spell, unlikely to provoke a response from the demon, unless this demon was particularly sensitive to common light.
However, it was clear that the demons here lacked this trait, as they all had thick armor. Forget about a bit of light; even the ultimate Holy Light Skill couldn’t penetrate their defenses.
As they drew closer, both could gradually discern the full appearance of the massive heap of flesh.
It was covered with various lumps, making for an unsettling sight.
When they were about forty or fifty meters away, Hilia suddenly sensed the surrounding pollution violently fluctuating.
She and Elina halted their steps, gazing at the creature in front of them.
Thump! Thump!
The pulsating sound suddenly grew more rapid.
In the distance, Hilia felt the ground seemingly vibrate.
Suddenly, she realized something, her face changing.
“It’s a demon!”
Elina also realized.
“This monster can summon demons from outside.”
Hilia’s expression turned solemn, “Looks like we’re in for a tough battle.”
Just as they pondered whether to continue moving forward, approaching the heap of flesh to test an attack, Rose’s voice echoed.
“Stay here, prepare to engage the demons; I’ll check out what this creature really is.”
“Okay.” Hilia exhaled in relief, quickly informing Elina to prepare for battle.
To avoid being attacked from both sides, they edged a bit closer to the monster, intending for it to block one direction of demon attacks.
Before long, numerous demons poured in from every passage, charging toward the two.
Hilia noted they seemed reluctant to approach the central monster, feeling a bit relieved.
Thus, they only needed to handle demons from three directions.
As the two engaged the demons, Rose had already slowly approached the flesh heap monster.
He arrived beneath the creature, observing as it pulsed violently, as if it had undergone intense exertion.
Rose’s expression turned grave.
His spiritual power skimmed over the enormous creature, parting the layers of ensnarement draping over it, revealing the creature’s true form.
After a brief moment, his eyes narrowed.
“As expected, this thing was created by the Divine King, intended to allow the pollution here to absorb the element of life.”
“And its original form had immensely strong vitality, yet that vitality wasn’t enough for the Divine King, thus requiring ongoing supply from the Elf Forest.”
“Is it just at this node, or at every node?”
Rose’s brows furrowed slowly.
If all nodes had it, that would be more manageable for Rose.
It would mean this creature is a replicable entity, but if unique, and each core node is a new entity, then…
Rose studied the creature before him, contemplated briefly, and decided to take a small risk to ascertain what this thing truly was.
His spiritual power transformed into fine threads, tapping into some of Hilia’s magic power to gather a trace of divine power onto the spiritual power, following into the creature’s interior, slowly searching for its origin.
Before long, he withdrew the threads of spiritual power, a playful expression forming on his face.
“Forget my former guess; this thing was originally made from Haroldias’ heart.”
“Then…”
“Could this massive underground array actually be Haroldias’ body, and the channels effectively its blood vessels?”
Previously, Rose had refrained from infiltrating the array for caution’s sake, but now, he had faint inklings of a new hypothesis.
