Chapter 642: Support? Wrong, It's a Tank
Chapter 642: Chapter 640: Support? Wrong, It’s a Tank
Elina’s way of fighting was indeed different from what Hilia had anticipated.
It might be because she happens to counter the demons here.
After charging into the node, life elements were released from Elina, quickly enveloping the entire node. Subsequently, Hilia sensed the pollution within the node being separated from the life element barrier, and those separated life elements were used by her.
The external magic power here was thin due to the high concentration of pollution, which would usually weaken the combat abilities of a Tier Four Mage casting spells here.
But not for Elina.
Even though there were no plants or animals here, the place was brimming with vitality, allowing life-attuned mages to thrive in such an environment.
Once a simple field formed, the earth began to sprout various plants, posing an obstacle for the demons charging in.
Soon after, a greenish glow appeared from Elina’s magic puppet.
The magic puppet rushed forward, clad in a special armor of life energy, confronting the demon and landing a punch on it.
“Roar!”
Other demons let out angry roars, charging at the magic puppet from all directions, claws ripping towards it fiercely.
However, the magic puppet didn’t intend to dodge. Upon grabbing one of the demons, it allowed the attacks of the other demons to land on it.
Bang!
The next second, the armor on the magic puppet’s body blossomed with a greenish light, magic power was being transmitted.
It seemed that to demonstrate to Hilia, Elina magnified the process of magic transmission, allowing Hilia to perceive the situation through the flow of magic power.
It appeared that the attacks from those demons did no damage to the magic puppet. Instead, the demon that was grabbed seemed to be severely clawed by something, quickly exhibiting deep wounds.
“Hmm?”
Hilia looked on surprised at this scene.
“Could it be transferring the damage using a spell similar to the [Guardian Angel]?”
Because the magic puppet’s heart contains life elements, Hilia had also looted some life magic from the Holy Court for the puppet to use, allowing her to quickly comprehend Elina’s combat style.
She looked at Elina, seeing her expression unchanged, seemingly accustomed to it.
Hilia couldn’t help but fall into contemplation.
She remembered that Elina wasn’t a tank-type mage in the past?
If she recalled correctly, Elina claimed to be an archer mage, though she had never seen her use archery, always using magic spells.
Regardless, be it an archer mage or a magic master, there was a notable difference from a melee mage.
Life magic seemed to be auxiliary magic after all…
Hilia herself used the magic puppet as her support.
But Elina…
Hilia had already figured out how Elina intended to deal with these demons next.
Elina looked at Hilia, smiling, “This is one of my strategies. Life magic can lock onto a target and share life with the opponent. Of course, I can control the amount of sharing, just like now, I can let the target endure over 99% of the damage, transmitting all the damage I receive to the target.”
Hilia couldn’t help but remark, “With just this magic, you could run rampant.”
Elina shook her head, “Not quite, mages with extremely high magic resistance, such as Hilia, could resist the magic effects, minimizing its effects. But resisting requires active effort. If encountering an unknowing mage, it can deliver unexpected results.”
Hilia nodded.
“With the life faction’s healing abilities, combined with this damage-sharing and transmitting capability, it felt like a waste not to engage in melee, so I shifted the magic puppet to melee combat,” Elina smiled slightly.
In her hand was a magic staff, which slipped from her grip and began to orbit around her.
Visible magical light spread outward from the tip of the staff, permeating into the demons besieging the magic puppet.
The demons deflated like punctured balloons, rapidly shrinking down.
“This is a spell to weaken enemies, quickly draining the target’s vitality, inducing a weakened state, causing their attack and defense capabilities to rapidly decline.”
“Like withering spells?” Hilia asked.
Elina looked at Hilia in surprise, “Hilia also knows about the withering faction spells?”
Hilia nodded, somewhat puzzled.
It seemed Elina was unaware that the one trying to assassinate her belonged to the Withered Wood force secretly nurtured by the Elf Royal Court?
Or, did Elina know about the Withered Wood?
Hilia pondered to herself.
Given her situation, perhaps she genuinely didn’t know about the Withered Wood organization. But then again, without knowing about the Withered Wood organization, how could she be aware of the special withering magic faction?
Hilia was slightly puzzled, but it didn’t matter whether she knew or not, as this organization was a thing of the past.
Even in the future, if the Elf King were to rebuild, it’s likely they wouldn’t consider using the derivation factions of the Holy Tree. Rose’s actions had indelibly scarred the Elf King.
“Life magic and withering magic are still different. Withering magic continuously drains life force, while mine only temporarily weakens, and will soon recover,” Elina explained.
“So life magic can only reduce life force temporarily, while withering magic can permanently reduce it?” Hilia blinked.
Something seemed slightly off.
Shouldn’t the control over life be more potent than withering?
Elina said, “Though I don’t know why, life faction magic venerates rejuvenation, and cannot permanently drain life otherwise it would face rejection on the elemental level, weakening the magic’s intensity.”
Hilia nodded thoughtfully.
Beside her, Rose chuckled, “This is a limitation from Haroldias regarding lower-tier laws. Every Main God imposes restrictions on the faction laws they control. Haroldias possesses power over life and death, over life and mortality. If unrestricted, both could achieve corresponding feats, which would be detrimental to his hold over associated authority, thus necessitating the restrictions.”
“There are indeed many such restrictions, such as water and ice. Mastering water theoretically allows control over ice, and further, even temperature… Therefore, every faction’s laws come with significant limitations. The core of life is vitality and healing, so the ability to extract life force, belonging to death-related factions, is naturally restricted.”
“Oh,” Hilia nodded, somewhat understanding.
“This is my commonly used strategy,” Elina extended her hand toward the group of magic puppets, “next is my different understanding of these demons.”
With a small motion of her hand.
The next moment, Hilia saw the life elements within those demons being extracted, rendering all demons motionless like paralyzed machines.
At that moment, Hilia could see the weaknesses hidden within the demons’ bodies suddenly being exposed, spread throughout their bodies.
In other words, at that moment, throwing a rock at any spot on the demons’ bodies would solve the demon problem.
Elina didn’t do that, but she did something similar.
Snap!
The tiny grass popping up from the ground gently whipped the demons.
The next instant, all the demons collapsed, reverting to their original ore form.
