The Evil God Summoned by the Saintess
Chapter 640: Hilia Is Not Alone, Because Lord Rose Is With Her
Chapter 640: Chapter 638: Hilia Is Not Alone, Because Lord Rose Is With Her
Elina would not return to the Elf Royal Court now, because returning at this moment would not garner attention, but instead, she might get ‘shelved,’ meaning she wouldn’t be allowed to do anything.
She planned to study alone to see if she could find a way to solve the demon calamity.
Of course, if the Elf Royal Court had not caused the beast tide to sweep through the Elf Forest, then she wouldn’t need to return to the court.
Hilia did not seem to care much about this.
Helping Elina with such matters was for the future, but now…
She proactively contacted Melina to inform her about the beast tide.
Melina nodded to show her understanding.
Then, she also went to the vicinity of the contamination source to observe secretly.
The first day was calm.
The Elf King issued orders for the Royal Court Guard to come to the vicinity of the contamination source, temporarily granting command authority to Louis.
However, it was not until the third day that the Royal Court Guard arrived near the contamination source and set up camp in the vicinity.
On that day, there was movement from underground, and some never-before-seen forms of demons appeared near the underground contamination source.
This phenomenon attracted the attention of the investigation station at the contamination source, and they quickly sent people inside.
Observing the actions of the investigation station, Hilia prepared herself and stealthily entered the underground after them.
Upon descending into the depths again, Hilia could feel that the concentration of pollution which previously surged out had reduced significantly, lowering the resistance when jumping down and allowing her to reach the underground space more quickly.
Hilia looked in the direction the elf investigation group was heading, pondered for a moment, and glanced toward another direction.
“It seems like Elina also came in, sneaking in alone without fear of accidents.”
Hilia shook her head and decided to quietly enter the passage Elina had taken and move toward the depths of the contamination.
Elina’s pace was not fast. Hilia followed the path Elina walked, requiring no major concealment, and soon saw Elina cautiously ahead.
Hilia hesitated for a moment and did not choose to go over and greet her.
“Elina mentioned earlier that she discovered something else. Perhaps I could quietly follow along to see what she indeed discovered.”
After a moment’s thought, she felt this was quite good.
Heading over now, Elina might get scared instinctively and attack her.
Then, Hilia suddenly heard a snapping sound beside her.
Immediately, behind Elina, a stone suddenly fell from above.
The sound wasn’t loud, but Elina still reacted instantly, and a green magic arrow shot out, hitting the stone.
Boom!
The stone shattered, but the arrow’s speed of flight didn’t reduce and it flew directly toward the stone where Hilia was hiding.
Bang!
As the stone shattered, Hilia also stepped out, looking helplessly at Rose.
Rose had clearly calculated this, purposely exposing her.
“Hilia?”
In the dark tunnel, Elina saw the figure that stepped out and exclaimed in surprise.
Hilia brushed off non-existent dust from her clothes, walked over, and waved with a smile, “Hello, Elina, long time no see.”
Elina was delighted, “I knew it, Hilia, you’d definitely be around. With the beast tide, you couldn’t possibly be absent!”
Hilia: “…”
Elina enthusiastically suggested, “Since you’re here, why don’t we investigate it together? The underground world is like a giant maze with interconnected paths. I’m a bit worried being alone, but with Hilia here, I’m sure we can find that thing!”
Hilia raised her brow: “That thing? What thing?”
Elina replied, “Even I don’t know what it is. It’s just what the Gods gave me through their blessings—she seems to have foreseen these disasters possibly happening in the Elf Forest long before, so she gave me many hints. Although these hints are very vague, almost as if…afraid of someone knowing.”
Elina looked troubled, “If the hints were clearer, it would be so much better. Just say what it is or where it is, then I wouldn’t be wandering around like a headless fly.”
Hilia curiously asked, “What did the Elf God say?”
“She said the key to resolving the disaster is underground in the Elf Forest. Beneath the earth, a flash of light saves all.”
Hilia was silent.
This hint was quite cryptic.
From Elina’s perspective, she probably can’t decipher anything.
Even for Hilia, it’s hard to comprehend.
A flash that saves all?
Could it be referring to the Heart of the Magic Puppet, which is the cornerstone of the underground array?
Hilia silently muttered.
She quietly asked Rose, “Master Rose, do you know what the Elf God’s words mean?”
Rose shook his head, “Who knows what she meant. The Elf God speaks like a riddle maker. I usually listen casually, only taking them at face value and not delving deep, because her ‘oracle’ might just mean she herself doesn’t know, so she deliberately speaks ambiguously; whichever way you interpret, it’s still ‘her meaning.’
“Ah, this…”
This answer took Hilia by surprise.
Could it be that the Elf God’s cryptic words weren’t because she was worried about someone finding out or due to any other particular reason, but rather she…simply doesn’t know?
It sounds just like the kind of thing those so-called star diviners love to do…
“Can we even trust the Elf God’s words?” Hilia asked again.
“Sure, why not trust—she might not know what it is, hence the riddles, but one thing is true: the solution to disasters often lies at their source.”
“Isn’t the source those three individuals using law runes…?”
“That’s just a catalyst, not the source.”
“Uh, okay.”
While talking with Rose, Hilia multitasked in discussing the ‘oracle’ about the Elf Forest with Elina.
Of course, eventually, they didn’t figure anything out.
Fortunately, Hilia was already accustomed to this kind of multitasking, so she didn’t accidentally voice what she intended to say to Rose aloud for Elina to hear.
After ending the discussion, the two continued to advance, moving toward the unknown depths.
Rose’s phantom watched from the side, smiling as Hilia and Elina progressed while chatting softly.
Both Elina and Hilia wore smiles on their faces, appearing quite happy.
Hilia had been busy purifying and healing during this period, under a lot of pressure, while Elina faced various constraints from the Elf Royal Court, making her not very happy either.
The two had traveled together for a while previously, but at that time, Hilia was very busy and Elina didn’t want to disturb.
Unlike now, neither seemed in a rush, were more relaxed, and their smiles naturally showed.
Rose grinned, “So, is it more fun to act as a duo?”
He was referring to the earlier trick he played to let Elina discover Hilia.
Hilia looked at Rose poutingly, “It’s relaxing, yes, but even without Elina, I’m not alone.”
“Oh?” Rose raised an eyebrow.
The girl blinked mischievously, “Because I have Master Rose accompanying me!”
