Chapter 2316: An eclipse that swallowed the Ninth Realm in darkness
Cain smiled as Meylin’s evolution completed. He could feel how her strength rose exponentially, and right off the bat, her battle power seemed to have reached the limit of the early Alpha-Omega Overgod Rank—a proof of her deep foundation and the power of the treasure fused into her heart.
Meylin released a slow breath, adapting to her new level, and the Power of Original Sin in her eyes burned with renewed sharpness.
With renewed spirits, the group exchanged brief smiles with each other and rested for a couple of hours while the Demon King recovered the energy needed to open another passage. Eventually, the ancient ruler finally regained enough strength to open a hole and cut through the Realm Barrier, carrying the group into the Ninth Realm.
Immediately, Cain’s eyes widened as the power of the laws and energy in the Ninth Realm of the Crimson World surged around them. The level was incomparable to any other realm they had passed.
It was not merely density or quantity. It was a transcendent state—an energy on the verge of evolution, as if the Oniric Truth itself was preparing to become something else. The pressure of that transformation lingered in every particle of existence.
However, no matter how impressive and unique this state was, Cain knew there was no time to dwell on it. They had come here to prevent the Ancient One from reaching the Eternity Gate, and they needed to move fast. There was no telling when the opening of the Origin Gate would occur.
The Demon King shared those thoughts, which was why he wasted no time. He began walking forward, drawing Cain and the others across the Ninth Realm at a shocking speed. They moved so fast that the group could not properly glance at the wondrous landscapes beneath them.
They only saw flashes of golden continents, shifting cosmic rivers, and fields of crystallized law blurred into streaks of red and blue.
After two hours, the Demon King finally began to slow as they approached a group of fifteen figures.
Cain’s eyes narrowed as he focused on the warriors. Their auras were so immense that he could only see their silhouettes from a distance, each one unique. As he perceived their energies through the Power of Chaos, the Scarlet King realized that not a single one of them was below the Alpha-Omega Overgod Rank—and that was only their cultivation base. Their battle power seemed even greater.
"With Leoro, there are sixteen True Depravita Alpha-Omega Overgods," Cain muttered. He then turned his gaze toward the Demon King. "All of them led by an ancient warrior at the peak of the Third Realm. This strength would have been enough to blow up the Heart of the Root."
Cain could not help but sigh as he realized how far the Nine Empyrean Suns Universe still had to go before matching the power of the Crimson World.
There were several more Alpha-Omega Overgods left behind in the Life Path, defending the realms, and that was only half the total forces the Crimson World possessed. In a direct clash, the Nine Empyrean Suns Universe would have no chance, which was exactly why Cain could not allow that confrontation to ever happen.
The Demon King, Cain, Meylin, the Enlightened One, and Leoro finally reached the fifteen powerhouses. Immediately, all of them clasped their hands and performed deep bows toward the old True Depravita at the lead. The Demon King showed a small smile to his forces and nodded to them.
Then, suddenly, his eyes twitched, and an expression of pain crossed his face.
That immediately alarmed the group as they did not understand what was happening. Their auras rose as they focused on the surroundings, wondering who could have attacked the Demon King without anyone noticing.
"It is not an attack."
But the next second, the Demon King shouted, his eyes turning toward the distance.
"He managed to shatter my spirit mark several days faster than expected!"
When the group heard that, confusion rose within them—but then they saw the phenomenon. The sun in the sky began to change as a moon manifested above it, covering it entirely and forging an eclipse that swallowed the Ninth Realm in darkness.
While imposing and carrying unique cosmic forces, an eclipse was not uncommon enough to overwhelm a group of Alpha-Omega Overgods. However, they all knew exactly what this eclipse meant.
"The Ancient One is going to access the Origin Island."
The Demon King clenched his teeth, barely concealing the flash of rage in his heart. Once more, the Ancient One managed to outmaneuver him—tricking him into believing he had far more time than he originally expected, only to reveal his true preparedness at the last moment by shattering the spirit fragment left inside the World Matrix and triggering the eclipse.
However, less than a second later, calm returned to the old True Depravita’s eyes as he slowly turned toward Cain. Had this happened before, they would have been lost, as there was no possible way to locate the opening of the gate with so little time. But Cain did not need time at all.
The Scarlet King needed no signal to understand what he had to do. His energy had already begun to rise the moment the eclipse appeared. Chaos Wings emerged from his back, fusing into the fabric of reality, and the bright scarlet light in his eyes glowed with overwhelming force as he turned into the distance and pointed.
"There!"
The Demon King’s aura exploded the next instant, his power so immense that even the enhanced laws of the Ninth Realm trembled. He covered the group with his energy and then flashed toward the direction Cain indicated with a speed that twisted space-time in his wake.
Faster and faster he advanced—so fast that even the Alpha-Omega Overgods saw only streaks of light flickering around them. Reality distorted under the pressure of his movement.
After five minutes, the Demon King began to slow, and then they saw it. A group of twenty warriors stood in the distance, each of them as powerful as the Demon King’s forces. At their lead was one whose aura could match the Demon King himself.
"The Ancient One."
Cain’s eyes glowed with killing intent as he stared at the silhouette of the leader of the Freedom Path.
