Chapter 2217: A weapon worthy of facing the Root
When Cain finally opened his eyes, a somber and shadowed light flickered within them. "Apex was right."
Although he would have preferred a different truth, there was no denying the reality now carved into his mind.
What had reached the Nine Empyrean Suns Universe was only a fragment of the Root—nothing more than a shard of something far greater. The true body of the entity still lingered somewhere in the Emptiness, and Cain could not even begin to estimate how much stronger it might be.
Yet despite the grim revelation, one detail brought him a measure of reassurance. He could clearly sense that there was no connection between the Heart of the Root that had infiltrated the Nine Empyrean Suns Universe and the main body wandering the Emptiness. They could not communicate with each other. They did not share thoughts, will, or power.
This left a crucial question unresolved—what, exactly, was the purpose of the Heart of the Root? And what was Radagon’s true plan? Were they simply attempting to devour the universe through brute force with their current numbers? Or was their goal something far more intricate, something hidden beneath layers of cosmic strategy?
Either way, this lack of connection with the core body meant Cain still had time. As long as no reinforcements from the Emptiness could arrive, and as long as Radagon and the other High Lords remained unable to fully unleash their true power, the current might of the Nine Empyrean Suns Universe was sufficient to resist the Heart of the Root—or at least prevent it from expanding.
With that threat temporarily contained, Cain turned his focus toward the next necessity.
A weapon.
He needed something truly capable of harming the warriors of the Root—something permanent and devastating. His victory over Emprik had been possible only because he struck by surprise.
In contrast, during his battle with High Lord Godfrey, no matter how much damage Cain inflicted, the abomination healed too quickly. Each wound he dealt was sealed the instant the Heart Root channeled its endless vitality into the fallen flesh.
No matter what type of attacks Cain, Uriel, and Cipher unleashed. They were unable to do permanent damage to Godfrey.
He needed a force capable of crippling or annihilating those higher-order entities—something they could not simply heal with a heartbeat’s worth of energy stolen from the Heart of the Root.
Fortunately, Cain didn’t need long to know where to begin.
The flames of Entropy and the starlight of Nihility instantly manifested around him.
These powers had allowed him to overcome Emprik’s Gift of the Root, yet to use them effectively in battle, Cain needed to achieve more than simply summoning them separately and crashing them together.
That method was too cumbersome, too slow, and too unstable. He needed to forge them into a single, unified force—a weapon stable enough to be used instantly and decisive enough to overwhelm even the Root’s regeneration.
He had spent a great deal of time contemplating this during the war against the Imperium of Time. The [A.I. Chip Module] had simulated countless potential pathways forward, yet none had succeeded.
But now Cain was far stronger. His domain over Laws and Concepts had deepened, sharpened, and evolved. More importantly, his understanding of the Flow—the interconnectedness of all things—had reached an entirely new level.
Pushing aside the lingering horror of the Root, Cain inhaled deeply and extended his hands.
Entropy gathered in his right palm, drawn from his Rank 12 Depravia Astral Supremacy Star—its foundation rooted in Laws. Nihility surged into his left palm, born from the Heart of Nihility—a supreme treasure whose core was built on Concepts.
Both forces sought the same outcome—total annihilation—but they traveled toward that end through completely different paths. To merge them into a single essence would require rewriting their cores, reshaping the nature of Law and Concept themselves.
Impossible—even for the Scarlet King.
But merging was not the only path.
Instead of forcing them into one, Cain could guide them into flawless harmony—unified in effect, separate in identity. Laws and Concepts working together without losing themselves.
That principle, fortunately, was something Cain understood intimately. It was the foundation behind the existence of the Oniric Truths—forces born from the perfect synchronization of Law and Concept, allowing their combined expression to transcend the limits of each.
Wasting no time, Cain pushed the power of the Crown of Ascension to its limits and immersed himself in the construction of this new technique.
For six days, there was only silence.
No tremors. No explosions. No outward signs of progress.
Only Cain—motionless, immersed in an internal war of precision and understanding.
On the seventh day, his eyes opened. A subtle radiance of comprehension glimmered within them.
He extended his hand. Above his palm, starlight and white flames began to converge. Immediately, friction rippled between the two forces—Nihility seeking to erase Entropy, Entropy attempting to unravel Nihility. At any moment they could have exploded.
But Cain did not grow anxious. His expression remained calm and unwavering.
He carved the path forward with absolute focus.
The streams of Nihility and Entropy began to revolve around each other—slowly at first, then faster and faster. Their rotation reached a terminal velocity, a speed so flawless that neither force could overpower the other.
That was the moment Cain began compressing them.
As they pressed closer, the explosive nature of their collision grew violently. But because the rotation was truly seamless—reaching a harmony so precise it bordered on divine—the destructive backlash folded inward instead of erupting outward.
A sphere slowly materialized.
A sphere of dark starlight and white flame. A sphere where both forces existed in perfect equilibrium—constant revolution, constant annihilation, yet perfectly stable.
Cain gazed at it, and a wide smile spread across his face.
In his hand rested a weapon embodying the ultimate state of nothingness—where energy, matter, and even thought itself collapsed into oblivion.
And this was only its basic form.
Once he unleashed it alongside the power of his Resurreccion, the force he would command would rise to a level beyond transcendence.
A weapon worthy of facing the Root.
