The Enhanced Doctor
Chapter 1421: Chief Director Ning Visits in Person
Chapter 1421: Chapter 1421: Chief Director Ning Visits in Person
"Teacher Liu, what should we do about this patient’s follow-up treatment today?"
Xu Yino asked during dinner.
"It’s just antitoxin therapy and symptomatic treatment. The symptoms will definitely develop, even though she is only in the early stages of toxemia now," Liu Banxia said.
"The incubation period of Clostridium perfringens seems to be six hours to six days. The incubation time doesn’t have much impact on the symptoms. But this bacterium reproduces very quickly, and coupled with her diarrhea, it greatly affects the body’s electrolytes."
"Even so, you cleaned the wound and removed quite a bit. If it develops further, it could be really hard to say. The back, chest cavity, abdominal cavity, pelvis, all these are possible locations."
"But the penicillin is working well. We hope this round can suppress the bacteria. Once her temperature drops, she should go to the oxygen chamber once or twice."
"Sigh... I don’t know whether to feel thankful or regretful. If it were on her hands or feet, it might have been discovered earlier, but then she might have ended up with an amputation," Liu Yiqing said.
"Now, since it’s on her back, it could pose even greater danger to her life. Let’s hope our medication is effective; she’s so young."
"See, you’re overthinking it again. Just eat your food quietly. We still have to replace those few later," Liu Banxia said.
"In two or three months, Qiaoqiao might visit Qing Kewa to play. I’d like to go too, but there’s no opportunity. We’ll have to squeeze in time by then to see how it goes."
"Tsk tsk, you’re making me want to go out for a stroll too. I haven’t been abroad yet," Xu Yino said.
"Haha, as if I’ve been abroad either," Liu Banxia laughed.
"But it doesn’t matter; you guys are busier now, but it will be much easier in the future. In our emergency center, we’re short-staffed, so it’s like this, but we’ll take it slow."
"There will be bread in the future. By then, you should train the interns and resident doctors well. Once they are trained, you’ll have it easier."
The two girls nodded; time really is a bit tight now.
At this moment, Liu Banxia’s phone rang. He glanced at it and quickly answered, "Shi Boss, is there an emergency?"
"Not an emergency, but Chief Director Ning from your hometown hospital has come personally. Have you finished eating?" Shi Lei asked.
"Not yet, can you arrange for someone to bring him to the cafeteria? He probably hasn’t eaten either. Then check with the director and Old Chen. If you have time, come over too," Liu Banxia said.
"Alright, I’ll have Huang Bo bring him over. I won’t go; I’ll keep an eye on things here," Shi Lei said before hanging up.
"Brother Zhou, please prepare a couple of special dishes and two cold dishes. I have a guest here," Liu Banxia called out.
"Sure thing," Zhou Qiang responded.
"Teacher Liu, who is it?" Liu Yiqing asked curiously.
"Chief Director Ning. Take your time eating; there will be more good dishes coming," Liu Banxia said with a smile.
"What do you mean take our time? We should stop eating now," Xu Yino said gleefully.
After a while, Huang Bo led Chief Director Ning over, and Liu Banxia quickly stood up to greet him.
"I didn’t expect you to come personally; a fax would have sufficed," Liu Banxia said.
"I was in a bit of a rush. There was a traffic accident on the way, which delayed me for a long time. Otherwise, I would have reached sooner," Chief Director Ning said.
"It seems it’s better to take the high-speed train next time. Once we collaborate, you can take the high-speed train. It’s more reliable and won’t delay things."
"Are you alone? You didn’t drive here by yourself, did you?" Liu Banxia asked.
"Zhao’s relative is here, so he went to visit them directly," Chief Director Ning said.
Liu Banxia nodded, whether it’s a real visit or not doesn’t matter, as long as he went to visit.
"Hello, Chief Director Ning."
Seeing they finished greeting, the two girls quickly greeted him as well.
"Hello, hello. We look forward to having you visit us. We have nothing else, but you’ll have your fill of mutton spine if you like it," Chief Director Ning joked.
At this point, Zhou Shuwen led Chen Xuehai over as well, and Liu Banxia hurriedly introduced them.
After all, he is a chief director, a bit like a regional lord. This collaboration with the emergency center deserves a high-level reception.
There’s no need to worry so much with someone like Xu Chengjun, they are familiar enough for Liu Banxia to handle it himself.
"Chief Director Zhou, I just came from your emergency center. I’m quite envious," Ning Yuanqian said.
"Chief Director Ning, if I told you that I usually don’t manage it and it’s all managed by Xuehai and Banxia, you probably wouldn’t believe me," Zhou Shuwen said with a smile.
"But I’m just a hands-off manager, always in meetings, and my surgery schedule is quite full. I used to have Banxia help me sometimes, but now he seems even busier than I am."
"Hard work is rewarded, and we really look forward to collaborating with you this time," said Ning Yuanqian.
"Especially after witnessing Director Liu’s NOSES surgery last time, which left us quite envious. Dr. Liu and Dr. Xu’s small incision appendectomy is also quite impressive."
"This kind of skill, in the past, we wouldn’t even dare to imagine. Although we’re also called a city hospital, it’s only at the level of a county city. It’s relatively close to the prefecture-level city, where there’s a medical school and an affiliated hospital; many people head there."
"It’s the same everywhere; this is a nationwide trend," Zhou Shuwen nodded.
"This collaboration will be beneficial for both you and us. We’re closer to Jinshui District Hospital, and we know Old Xu quite well. It has already been underway for some time, yielding good results."
"Last time, Banxia returned and introduced your situation to me, saying that it’s much better than Jinshui District Hospital."
"You can discuss the detailed collaboration with Banxia. Anyway, he’s the one doing it. I can’t perform NOSES surgery either, but when I have time, I need to figure it out."
Ning Yuanqian was slightly surprised, not expecting Zhou Shuwen to place such importance on Liu Banxia, entrusting the entire project to him.
"Director Liu, we have boiled fish, sweet and sour ribs, smashed cucumbers, spicy shredded potatoes, plus lemon chicken claws and red oil tripe. Welcome, honored guest." At this moment, Zhou Qiang led people to serve the dishes.
"Manager Zhou, you’re starting to run a loss-making business, huh? I’m not going to hold back with you," Liu Banxia joked.
"Don’t hold back; if you do, I’d be upset. Director Zhou, Director Chen, call me if you need anything, I won’t disturb you," Zhou Qiang said and went back to the counter.
"Teacher Liu, frequent additions to the menu are pretty nice," Xu Yino said with a smile.
"That’s why I say my salary is pretty much turning into meal money," Liu Banxia laughed bitterly.
"Chief Director Ning, although it’s the hospital canteen, Manager Zhou’s culinary skills are quite good. I don’t know if it’ll suit your taste, but don’t hold back."
"Don’t worry, I won’t hold back. Having driven here with traffic jams, I’m actually quite hungry," Ning Yuanqian said jokingly.
Inside, he was somewhat surprised too, seeing Liu Banxia so casually enjoy a treat, with Zhou Shuwen not minding. Something felt off.
But knowing little about the situation here, he just followed along and enjoyed the meal.
"Teacher, Chief Director Ning is very prepared for our collaboration. They’ve even allocated a separate ward," Liu Banxia said.
"One shouldn’t fight a battle unprepared. Such a great surgical method, how many people are willing to share? When the time comes, if there are other surgeries, proper guidance should be given," Ning Yuanqian said.
"The difference between being able to perform and performing well may not seem large, but the outcome seen in patients is significantly different. Our hospital plans to focus more on training resident doctors; I’ll send them to your emergency center even if it means squeezing through the door,"
"Chief Director Ning, don’t worry about that. Just let me know the names in advance, but I suggest a minimum of two years; one year is too tight," Liu Banxia said.
"Alright, no problem, we need to think long-term," Ning Yuanqian nodded.
Feeling relieved now, this was his verbal agreement with Liu Banxia, without any way to incorporate into official documentation.
Having external technical support isn’t enough; it’s still external technology. To really benefit, they need their own talent.
They can’t expect Liu Banxia’s team to perform all future NOSES surgeries; the purpose of the collaboration is to learn this technique.
No more discussions about work followed. It was normal socializing; the sole aim was to enjoy the meal.
After the meal, Zhou Shuwen and Chen Xuehai left, leaving the remaining tasks to Liu Banxia.
Upon returning to the office of the second department, Xu Yino brewed tea for them both before Liu Banxia could instruct.
"Director Liu, I’m speaking from the heart, seeing your facility, I’m genuinely envious," Ning Yuanqian said.
"I came during a non-peak period, and there were so many patients, yet not even a hint of chaos, and the reception speed was impressive."
"Chief Director Ning, it was a necessity. Otherwise, we wouldn’t know when a major incident might occur, requiring on-site emergency care," Liu Banxia said.
"You’ve experienced our city’s traffic situation; even with private cars yielding, our emergency vehicles can’t move fast."
"It’s similar on our side; for emergency patients from rural areas, there’s really a lot of time wasted," Ning Yuanqian nodded.
After saying this, he pulled out the agreement they had drafted from his briefcase.
"Chief Director Ning, have your tea first, let me take a look," Liu Banxia said with a smile.
In fact, there’s nothing much in this agreement, just the initial promises Ning Yuanqian made. It even covers travel expenses, accommodations, and dining, with corresponding subsidies.
This collaboration agreement really considers Liu Banxia’s needs.
He genuinely felt a bit anxious, otherwise, he wouldn’t have come personally.
