The End of the Immortal Path
Chapter 646 - 347: The Despair of an Ant Trying to Shake a Tree
Chapter 646: Chapter 347: The Despair of an Ant Trying to Shake a Tree
The courtyard abruptly darkened. Thunder rumbled as countless lightning bolts converged, striking down like beams of light.
Grand Technique: Celestial Thunder!
Seeing this, Bai Ming let out a hearty laugh. Spreading his arms, a massive phantom figure materialized around him. The giant blotted out the sun and sky, reaching one hand out to grasp the lightning. With a wave of its hand, the giant seized the descending cascades of lightning in its palm. Then, looming from above, it unleashed a punch laden with the captured thunder.
BOOM!
The fist smashed toward Ji Linglong.
Her long hair whipped wildly in the wind, and the shockwaves tore several gashes into her robes. Facing such an attack, she didn’t dare hesitate for a moment. A blazing sun manifested within her eyes, dyeing her pupils a scorching golden-red. Forming a hand seal, she struck out with a palm. A red sun emerged behind her while the thunder above rumbled once more, the deafening roar echoing in everyone’s ears.
Grand Technique: Thunder from a Clear Sky!
BOOM!
Fist and palm collided. A shockwave erupted between them. Debris in the courtyard was sent flying, pelting the walls with a loud CLATTER. The onlookers involuntarily took a few steps back. An Rong stumbled as the shockwave pushed her, but Cao Cheng quickly grabbed her arm to steady her.
In an instant, the giant’s palm dissipated, and the thunder it carried vanished into nothingness. Meanwhile, Ji Linglong was sent flying backward. As she landed, her feet dragged two deep trenches into the ground before she finally managed to steady herself. Her aura rapidly weakened. A trace of blood seeped from the corner of her mouth, which she wiped away with the back of her hand.
Hovering in midair, Bai Ming looked down at her in surprise. "Dual Grand Techniques? You still managed to advance so quickly despite that?"
Not daring to be careless, he immediately repaired the giant’s arm and brought it crashing down once again. If he waited a few more months, the tables might very well turn.
BOOM!
A tremendous explosion rang out as Ji Linglong was blasted away. However, as she fell, a gentle force caught her, easing her descent. Bai Ming didn’t take the opportunity to press his attack.
He simply looked at Ji Linglong calmly. "I win. I told you, I am invincible in our courtyard right now. You can’t stop me."
Ji Linglong gritted her teeth but said nothing. Currently, she was indeed no match for Bai Ming.
Walking over to Jiang Man and the others, she said, "This is all I could do to drain him. He just broke through to Primordial Spirit Perfection, so the exhaustion is greater than he anticipated. If Xiaoqing wins, she can wear him down a bit more too. You might still have a chance of winning."
Jiang Man looked at her. Initially, he wanted to give her another mysterious smile, but seeing her injuries, he simply said, "I am also at Primordial Spirit Perfection."
Ji Linglong froze. She turned her eyes full of disbelief toward Ji Meng. Her gaze seemed to ask if there was something wrong with his head.
Ji Meng smiled and said, "If necessary, I can reach Perfection as well."
Ji Linglong decided both of them had something wrong with their heads. She was so tired. Why did she have to deal with these two alone? It wasn’t that she didn’t want to believe them; it was simply impossible.
She had seen Ji Meng’s files. Just advancing to the Primordial Spirit realm was difficult enough for him, let alone reaching Primordial Spirit Perfection. As for Jiang Man, how long had it been since he advanced to the Primordial Spirit realm? It completely defied her understanding of cultivation. She wasn’t using her own cultivation speed as the baseline, but rather a standard several times faster than her own. Regardless, she was utterly exhausted right now. She could only sit cross-legged and begin to recover her strength.
The second match was Xiaoqing versus Qi Xi.
Everyone else was very curious to see if their fight would be exciting. And indeed, it was spectacular. The two of them were evenly matched. Magic Skills, Body Skills, and raw power endlessly bombarded the arena, perfectly embodying the sheer beauty of strength. Every collision sparked with arcs of light, glaringly bright against the pale gray canopy of the winter sky. In the end, both suffered heavy injuries, leaving neither in any condition to proceed to the next round of the assessment.
Zhuo Bufan and the others sighed in pity; Xiaoqing had been so close to winning. Since they were on the same side, they naturally hoped Xiaoqing would emerge victorious. Ji Linglong, on the other hand, felt it was a shame. This meant Bai Ming would face less attrition.
"You’re just stubborn," Zhao Yaoyao said as she kindly tended to Ji Linglong. "You have no idea how dazzling Jiang Man’s brilliance truly is. We’re all from the same courtyard in the Outer Sect. How could we not know?"
Ji Linglong didn’t reply. Could Foundation Establishment and Primordial Spirit be compared? Moreover, he had spent over three years going from Foundation Establishment to Golden Core, and over five years from Golden Core to Primordial Spirit. It wouldn’t be unreasonable for him to take eight years to go from Primordial Spirit to Perfection, would it? She had even generously estimated it at around five years for him. Now, to claim he might reach Perfection in just three or four years was simply impossible based on his previous progress. More importantly, if he truly had reached Perfection, he could have fought for a quota much earlier. Yet, he hadn’t gone on the third mission.
The third match was Jiang Man versus Ji Meng.
They didn’t use Grand Techniques when they fought, and both suppressed their cultivation to the Late Stage of Primordial Spirit. The onlookers could tell at a glance that neither was using their full strength. In the end, Ji Meng lost. All that remained was Jiang Man and Bai Ming.
Bai Ming looked at Jiang Man with a touch of emotion. "Actually, you could have just conveniently lost. That way, you’d avoid having to face me."
"None of you understand," Jiang Man said as he looked at him.
"Understand what?" Bai Ming asked.
"Understand how strong I am, how high my Talent is, and how hard I work at Cultivation," Jiang Man said calmly.
"There are countless geniuses across the Immortal Sect. It’s not like we haven’t seen them," Bai Ming said, taking a step forward. Power radiated from his body, and instantly, the massive phantom figure reappeared.
Looming above Jiang Man, he said, "Perhaps it’s not that I don’t understand, but that you don’t. No matter how high your Talent is, in front of those of us who hold the advantage of time, you still have to look up to us. You should have laid low and avoided my sharp edge; otherwise, you will have to suffer the painful price of your arrogance.
"You are far too conceited."
As his voice fell, the giant unleashed a storm-carrying punch. Jiang Man stood in the shadow of the giant, looking up at Bai Ming. The winter wind picked up again, rustling the hem of his clothes. His expression remained unchanged—neither nervous nor excited.
