The End of the Immortal Path
Chapter 619 - 337: The Ji Family’s Special Surname
Chapter 619: Chapter 337: The Ji Family’s Special Surname
Jiang Man walked step by step across the lush grass. The ground was slightly damp, yielding softly beneath his feet, and a few blades of emerald grass clung to the soles of his shoes. It must have rained recently; tiny water droplets still hung from the tips of the grass, refracting scattered glimmers of light. The air carried the scent of earth—fresh and moist, bearing the unique fragrance that always followed the rain. It was a comfortable feeling, much like a leisurely stroll after a storm.
Breathing in the damp air, Jiang Man felt his originally restless mind settle considerably. He had encountered far too many things lately. One incident followed another, leaving him with almost no time to catch his breath. Even an Unparalleled Celestial Pride like him couldn’t help but sigh in lament. Was it his own problem, or were the Evil Gods just too rowdy? They rarely gave him a moment of peace.
But if given the choice again, he would still choose this kind of life. He had no choice. They just offered too much. On this single trip out, he had earned millions of Spiritual Sources—something he wouldn’t have even dared to imagine before leaving. He still needed to continue improving his Cultivation. As for being unable to return in July, he no longer cared about that. He could afford the penalty.
"What did you run into?"
A lazy voice drifted over from ahead, accompanied by the CRUNCH CRUNCH of someone biting into a fruit.
Only then did Jiang Man realize he had arrived. Ting Fengyin was sitting beneath a massive, leafy tree, leaning against its thick trunk with one leg stretched out and the other casually bent. He held a pink fruit in his hand, biting into it absentmindedly while tossing scraps into the nearby water. Beneath the surface, fish flickered in and out of view, chasing the falling crumbs.
"Did he give up fishing to raise fish instead?" Jiang Man wondered.
Stepping under the tree, he sat down beside Ting Fengyin and replied, "A lot of things really have happened lately."
Jiang Man gave a brief overview of his trip. He mentioned the Three Rivers Evil God, the ancient altar, the unique Array Evil God, and the clamoring of that Evil God.
Hearing Jiang Man’s recount, Ting Fengyin stopped chewing. He stared at Jiang Man for a moment before standing up. After patting the grass clippings off his clothes, he circled Jiang Man twice.
Only then did he speak, "Rare. Even rarer than an Unparalleled Celestial Pride."
"What are you talking about, Senior?" Jiang Man asked curiously.
"An Unparalleled Celestial Pride is common, but someone with a greater knack for attracting trouble than you is not," Ting Fengyin sighed emotionally. "Even when I was young, I was far inferior to you. Back then, I couldn’t have encountered as many powerful enemies as you do even if I tried."
"Was it because your opportunities were lacking back then, Senior?" Jiang Man asked.
Ting Fengyin shook his head, leaned back against the tree trunk, and took another bite of his fruit. His tone was flat. "No, it was because I was simply too invincible. You can’t blame them."
Jiang Man looked at him and fell silent for a moment. Eventually, he plucked a fruit of his own and started eating. The fruit this time was pink, crunchy, and sour. He decided he would bring some back for Old Huang to eat. The Tengu could also use a change of taste. As for himself, he wouldn’t eat them; he couldn’t swallow them down.
"How is the fruit this time?" Ting Fengyin asked suddenly.
"Sour," Jiang Man shook his head. While it wasn’t as sour as the last batch, it still didn’t suit his taste. He figured Miss Ji Meng wouldn’t like it either.
"Do you prefer sour or bitter flavors?" Ting Fengyin said with a smile. "I think you have a taste for bitterness. Otherwise, why would you have so many problems?
"You haven’t been able to deal with a single enemy you’ve encountered."
Choosing not to take the bait, Jiang Man asked instead, "Is the Three Rivers Evil God also very dangerous?"
"I don’t know him, but as All Rivers Flow into the Sea, his so-called ’Three Rivers’ should also belong to the ’Four Seas,’ and I happen to know the Lord of the Four Seas." Ting Fengyin thought for a moment and casually tossed his fruit core into the stream, causing several fish to scramble for it. "This Three Rivers Evil God is most likely his subordinate, or a subordinate of the Four Seas Evil Gods."
"Have I offended the Four Seas Evil Gods?" Jiang Man asked.
"Hard to say. But if you’ve offended them, so be it. Could they really charge into the Wuyun Sect just to kill you?" Ting Fengyin said casually. "Besides, a nobody like you isn’t worth them doing so.
"Even in the worst-case scenario, if they did charge in to kill you, it would be a good thing.
"After all, you could just call me."
Jiang Man fell silent for a moment before asking, "What if they send someone weaker?"
Ting Fengyin shrugged as he ate his fruit. "Then you’ll have to leave it to fate. But the chances of that are slim. Even if you’re not in the Sect, you’re still within the jurisdiction of the Immortal Sects. They wouldn’t necessarily know when you travel outside."
Jiang Man hesitated for a moment before asking, "Then what if I establish the Licheng Immortal Dojo?"
Hearing this, Ting Fengyin froze. He stared intently at Jiang Man for a long time before speaking. "Your Cultivation isn’t high, but your ambitions certainly aren’t small. Do you plan to establish the Licheng Immortal Dojo during your Primordial Spirit stage, or when you reach the Returning Void stage?"
Jiang Man originally wanted to say the Returning Void stage, but he quickly changed his mind and asked, "What do you think, Senior?"
Ting Fengyin answered without hesitation, "The Primordial Spirit stage, of course. Since you’re going to establish it anyway, you might as well aim big.
"Your Talent is decent, just a bit lazy.
"From what I can see now, you do have the qualifications.
"However, once you set up the Immortal Ascension Dojo, you’ll need to work hard.
"The faster you become an Immortal, the more benefits you’ll reap.
"The later you succeed, the harder it will be."
Jiang Man nodded.
If he really had to establish the Immortal Ascension Dojo during his Primordial Spirit stage, time was running out. Moreover, it would be a bit more difficult than doing it during the Returning Void stage.
As he ate his fruit, Ting Fengyin said, "Then offending the Four Seas Evil Gods is quite troublesome. They will definitely come to ’take care’ of you."
Jiang Man immediately asked, "What if I establish it using the identity of Zui Fusheng?"
Ting Fengyin pondered for a moment, gently tapping his fingers against his knee. "Zui Fusheng is going to offend the Bai Family and the Ji Family later on, and has also offended the Sun and Moon Immortal Path."
"And the Celestial Demons," Jiang Man added.
He then recounted the story of how he had saved Zhao Tiankuo.
"You certainly have a rich history of experiences," Ting Fengyin said with a smile. "Are you trying to get my support?"
