Chapter 575: Chapter 315: Bai Family Ancestor: Will I Be Killed?

"Five hundred thousand?" Jiang Man looked at Ren Qian in front of him and couldn’t help but ask, "Didn’t you say it was fifty thousand each? Logically, it should be eight hundred thousand."

"Five hundred thousand is quite a lot," Ren Qian explained. "These people are only somewhat related to the Sun and Moon Immortal Path; very few of them are actually affiliated with it. Therefore, some are worth less. It totals up to five hundred thousand."

Jiang Man didn’t mind. Instead, he asked, "If I need a special Magic Skill, do I still have to do missions?"

Ren Qian shook his head. "No, as long as you reach the Spiritual Ninth Layer, you can choose a special Magic Skill. However, the Nine-star Series has three manuals in total. You only have one right now, so you won’t be able to unleash its full power. Of course, a special Magic Skill isn’t bad either; it all depends on what you need, Junior Brother."

Pausing for a moment, Ren Qian continued, "Also, Junior Sister Yu seems to have gone to fight for a mission for you again. It’s quite dangerous for you to go out nowadays, so you must be careful when taking missions."

Jiang Man was slightly curious. "A mission? What kind of mission?"

"It should be related to the expansion of recruitment," Ren Qian replied.

Jiang Man was puzzled. Expansion of recruitment?

Ren Qian nodded. "The Immortal Sect has issued a new decree. Environmental restoration has shown some results, the population is increasing, and the economic situation is improving. There are always some people who possess Spiritual Sources but might not be able to enter the Sect. So..."

"So they want to establish new Sects?" Jiang Man asked.

Ren Qian shook his head. "The dynamics between the Three Major Sects won’t easily change. The Sects can recruit more people, but their entry thresholds won’t be lowered.

"However, there will always be a group of people stuck at the bottleneck. While a short delay doesn’t matter much, over time, their path of cultivation will only grow narrower, which goes against the Immortal Sect’s interests. Therefore, to expand recruitment, the Immortal Sect is enlarging its jurisdiction to incorporate those unaffiliated wilderness Sects. Our Sect can allocate a portion of its resources to replicate those Sects’ structures, allowing them to take in more path-seekers.

"If someone forms a Golden Core, they can then come to our Sect for an assessment. Upon passing, they can enter the Inner Sect. This effectively broadens the channels for Immortal Cultivation."

Jiang Man immediately understood the Immortal Sect’s intentions. Previously, if one couldn’t enter a Sect, their future was practically hopeless. Now, there were other options, though they would certainly cost more Spiritual Sources. Regardless, it was still a path forward.

Shortly after, Jiang Man asked, "What if those Sects refuse to cooperate?"

"As the Immortal Sect expands its jurisdiction, it naturally doesn’t matter if those Sects fall outside of it. But if they are within the new boundaries, they should only have two choices." Ren Qian pondered for a moment before saying, "First, agree to be incorporated. Second, relocate out of the Immortal Sect’s jurisdiction."

Jiang Man nodded, understanding the stance of the Immortal Sect’s governance. The governance was relatively beneficial overall, but the distribution of interests wasn’t balanced. There would always be people who felt they had suffered losses.

Originally free and independent, these Sects were now being absorbed into the Immortal Sect’s jurisdiction and forced to accept its decrees. It was equivalent to having a massive mountain looming over their heads, controlling their general direction. Of course, there were also Sects that were eager to be incorporated. That way, they wouldn’t have to smuggle Cultivation Skills anymore.

"The boundaries should be demarcated very soon, and the recruitment expansion missions will fall to the Inner Sect. This counts as a merit. Simply put, if you do this job well, you can get discounts on many things—such as your rent." Ren Qian paused before continuing, "There are also other hidden rewards. For instance, the Sect will distribute certain items, food, and the like.

"If Junior Sister Yu succeeds, you should also be able to participate in the recruitment expansion, Junior Brother. However, your situation is unique, and you’ve reported so many undercover spies. It’s hard to say whether this will be a blessing or a curse for you."

Jiang Man felt that he couldn’t even go out casually anymore. The Sect didn’t restrict him, but going out meant he’d easily be targeted and beaten. Because of the rumors spread by the Ji Family, the restless elements within the Immortal Sect were itching to make a move against him. Furthermore, the Sun and Moon Immortal Path had already intended to cause trouble, giving them even more reason to target him.

Deciding not to dwell on it any further, Jiang Man stored away the Spiritual Sources and saw Ren Qian off.

"Old Huang, what level of Cultivation do you think the people who want to deal with me now possess?" Jiang Man asked.

People in the Immortal Sect wanted him dead, and people from the Sun and Moon Immortal Path also wanted him dead. However, they all shared a massive misconception. They were merely acting opportunistically, entirely unsure if he was truly Meng Qiewei’s Dao Companion. Thus, the people they sent definitely wouldn’t be too strong. They wouldn’t take him seriously enough.

"It’s hard to say. Perhaps some people simply enjoy fighting above their weight class. Crossing an entire major Realm isn’t impossible either," the Old Yellow Ox said.

"True enough. It feels like I’m being forced to advance, so I might as well advance and show them," Jiang Man replied nonchalantly.

After that, he focused on practicing the Visualization Skill. Ideally, he would fill his seventh Gourd by October. Then, he could elevate his Cultivation.

Outside the Wuyun Sect.

A group of people had been waiting for a long time. The leader said, "It seems our contact hasn’t shown up. Go find out what happened."

The next day.

A young man reported seriously, "They were arrested. Not just our contact, but other Immortal Spirit contacts as well. Rumor has it they were reported by someone."

The black-robed female leader asked, "Do we know who did it?"

"We’re still investigating," the man answered.

The woman fell silent for a moment before saying, "You can ask the subordinates of other Immortal Spirits. Even those outside the Sect will do. They usually have their own channels of information."

That very afternoon, they obtained accurate information from the subordinates of the Ling Hua Immortal Spirit. The person who reported the undercover spies was Jiang Man.

"Does this guy think he’s lived too long?" the female leader asked, furrowing her brows. "What is his Cultivation?"

"He should be at the Primordial Spirit Realm," the newcomer answered.

"Primordial Spirit? No wonder he acts so fearlessly." The female leader fell silent for a moment. "Our goal in coming here this time is to find a Great Demon, but dealing with him on the side isn’t out of the question. When the time comes, spare two people to go take care of him."
