The Empress Wants a Divorce Every Day
Chapter 37: Loyal Protector
Chapter 37: Chapter 37: Loyal Protector
In her room, Feng Qing was agonizing.
In the study of the front courtyard, Rong Ling was meticulously handling the memorials. Since he had not yet transferred power back to the Little Emperor, many state affairs required his personal attention, leaving him busy and occupied until late at night.
On one side of the study, Nan Feng glanced at Rong Ling several times, making it impossible for Rong Ling to pretend he hadn’t noticed. He lifted his gaze toward Nan Feng and said.
"Is something wrong?"
Nan Feng spoke steadily: "Prince, the Princess Consort injured her hand. Would you like me to send some medicine for the injury?"
Upon hearing Nan Feng’s words, Rong Ling’s phoenix eyes slightly narrowed, his expression showed displeasure: "Letting her fall into the water earlier was one thing, but now you want to send medicine?"
Seeing the Prince’s displeasure, Nan Feng immediately sought forgiveness: "I was meddling."
Rong Ling ignored him, lowered his head, and resumed dealing with the memorials. However, after a short while, he dropped a sentence: "Let her learn a lesson."
She’s a woman full of schemes. Without some discipline, she’ll be impossible to manage in the future.
Upon hearing the Prince’s words, Nan Feng understood his intention and did not mention delivering medicine to Feng Qing again.
In the Purple Bamboo Pavilion, Feng Qing didn’t sleep well all night and instructed Si Qi the next morning with two large dark circles under her eyes.
"I want crystal shrimp dumplings, milk and poria cake, flower cup thousand-layer flaky pastry, and a serving of creamy pineapple jelly. Oh, and also bring me a bowl of silver ear and red date porridge, quickly."
Being hungry all night wouldn’t have been a big deal, but the problem was she had seen so much delicious food last night but didn’t get to eat any of it. She was furious all night and dreamed that every time she was about to eat her favorite dishes, they were snatched away.
She was fuming in her dream, resulting in a sleepless night.
Si Qi, unaware of the situation, saw Feng Qing’s large dark circles and assumed she hadn’t slept well because of the pain in her hand, feeling extremely empathetic.
Feng Qing was too lazy to explain. Once the little maids of the Purple Bamboo Pavilion brought over the food, her mood immediately improved.
While serving her, Si Qi reported the situation over at Si Hua: "Her forehead was scratched, bled quite a bit, but the injury on her leg isn’t much of a concern, should be fine with a couple of days’ rest. What’s troublesome is that the wound on her forehead could leave a scar."
Feng Qing knew that in this era, having a scar on the face was a devastating blow for a woman.
Although she could make a scar-removing balm in no time, she didn’t want to reveal her medical skills now, so she wouldn’t intervene in this matter.
"You used to serve the Prince; you can quietly ask Nanfeng Guard for some scar-removing balm to apply."
Si Qi immediately nodded and said: "I understand, I just thought I should inform you, Princess Consort."
Feng Qing felt much better after eating most of the food, and her words turned more gentle.
"However, her temper is too intense, easily putting her at a disadvantage. You should advise her to be less impulsive in the future."
As Feng Qing’s words fell, she thought of herself. She had been too impulsive last night. Merely because Rong Ling asked her to set the table, she decided to deliberately retaliate, so this punishment served as a wake-up call.
Upon hearing Feng Qing’s words, Si Qi’s eyes dimmed, still feeling hurt by the Prince’s cold indifference from yesterday.
"Although Si Hua has a fiery nature, she is the most loyal. She cannot stand to hear anything bad said about the Prince, nor to see the Prince suffer any disadvantage. Every time someone speaks ill of the Prince, she has to retort."
