As a result, they had already lost the instinct to cry out to adults for help.

Sensing this, Han Su let out a low sigh. He gently pushed the Little Lamb Girl aside and turned to look outside the building.

Countless intense flashlight beams pointed their way. Even Han Su could feel his eyes burn from the glare.

A sudden flurry of movement.

Beyond the glare of the flashlights, he heard a series of clicks as firearms were chambered. The low, incessant chanting of Spells filled the air. An intense, oppressive sense of danger made the hairs on his arms stand up, yet as he slowly raised his head and looked out, all he felt was crushing pressure.

Han Su slowly raised his head, his expression twisting as he faced the harsh lights. He spoke in a low voice:

“I’m not a good person anymore, but you people…”

“…you’re truly evil!”

“…”

As he spoke, he let go. The suitcase fell to the ground and opened automatically.

Then, the Emperor’s Book leaped into his palm. As if caught by an invisible wind, its pages rustled as it flew open in his hand.

“I don’t care who you are…”

“…Fire!”

At that same moment, the people gathered outside screamed, and a countless storm of bullets rained down on him.

“Thought is the boundary!”

Facing the bullet storm, Han Su gently raised a hand and recited Zero Sequence Encrypted Spell Number 03.

Instantly, an invisible barrier formed with his body as the center, expanding sideways. Countless bullets were stopped with a staccato of pings. But as the barrage of bullets came, dark figures lunged from the crowd, weaving toward him in a coordinated attack.

In that moment, everything seemed to move in slow motion in Han Su’s eyes. He could clearly see the dark figures pouncing at him.

He also noticed the numb, vacant expressions of the children behind him.

He sighed inwardly, raised his hand again, and recited a second Encrypted Spell: “I command you to appear in the Light!”

This Spell would ensure all contamination and mysterious attacks were concentrated on him, but that wasn’t all.

The moment the Spell was recited, it affected the oblivious children behind him.

CRACK! CRACK! CRACK! CRACK!

The huge needles behind them suddenly shattered. The black substance, activated by the Spell, scattered in all directions.

It burst from the needles and then rapidly converged on Han Su.

Han Su, holding the Emperor’s Book, now seemed to be the center of countless streams of contamination, surrounded by the bizarre black substance.

While it madly contaminated him, it also began to use him as a medium to be devoured by the Emperor’s Book.

And the Emperor’s Book, in turn, was affecting his Divine Material.

At this moment, he faced too many incursions, and the pressure was immense.

The contamination assaulting him from the outside alone was rapidly pushing him to his limit.

And yet, the black substance from the children around him was unexpectedly providing a subtle form of reinforcement.

To advance, Han Su needed to find more sources of the mysterious to offer to the Emperor’s Book. However, these sources were always accompanied by powerful wills. When accepting their contamination, he would also be battered by their wills, making it difficult to avoid being twisted by them.

But now, an unimaginable bug had appeared in the system.

This black substance possessed a Fertile aura; it was an extremely pure form of Mysterious Power. For the Emperor’s Book, it was excellent sacrificial material.

However, this black substance was only ever intended for use on these children and lacked any kind of strong, aggressive will. Thus, it had become the most ideal sacrificial material imaginable.

Han Su’s Divine Material was also rapidly growing stronger and more resilient, even beginning to quickly approach its limit.

It was like a cell that, having received enough nutrients and reached maturity, was beginning to—

‘—divide?’

Realizing this, Han Su would have been overjoyed under normal circumstances.

Now, however, he had no time to dwell on it. He clutched the Emperor’s Book and slowly walked outward. His Spiritual Power was fully activated, and the very air around him began to warp, making him look blurry and giving him a faint, sacred aura.

He walked right up to the top of the steps. His Spiritual Power suddenly pulsed, and a huge ripple spread out from him.

POP! POP! POP! POP!

In front of the building, the direct beams of the flashlights scattered into chaos. In the darkness, countless screams and pained roars erupted.

Many of the people in the secret prison had no idea what was happening. They were simply confronted by this terrifying enemy who held a mysterious book, ignored the contamination from the horrifying materials used to create the vessels, and seemed utterly unfathomable.

“This is only the beginning…”

Han Su slowly raised his head, his gaze sweeping over the terrified and furious faces before him as a cold smile touched his lips.

He raised his hand again and chanted in a low voice: “I offer my body, my life for divine use!”

The function of this Encrypted Spell was simple: offer one’s own Spiritual Power to summon Mysterious Power for one’s use.

Out in the wilderness, one would never know what might be summoned. But this was a secret prison…

In that instant, the entire dark, grim secret prison seemed to awaken. Responding to Han Su’s will, lights began to flicker on one by one within the gloomy model of a city.

From within the rows of streetlights along the road, tall, slender, and bizarre things occasionally straightened up slowly and turned their heads.

The prison was starting to boil.

…

…

Amidst this boiling chaos, Han Su turned his head slightly, his peripheral vision catching sight of the Little Lamb Girl.

She was clenching her small fists tightly, watching him with a worried expression.

‘Her expression is strange. It’s the first time I’ve seen that emotion on her face. Worry? Or perhaps… a hint of gratitude?’

‘She really is naive…’

‘The truth is, I’m not a good person. Even after catching her, all I thought about was using her, or even getting rid of her at any moment.’

‘But I’m already the best person she’s ever met.’
