The Eldritch Files
Chapter 327: Hunting Nobles
‘The Little Lamb Girl actually has this kind of power?’
Not only were Investigator Wei Ya and Count Albarrez stunned by this scene, but Han Su’s gaze also grew sharp.
He was right beside the Little Lamb Girl, so he could see how bizarre the black trees were. They grew rapidly, but each one was grotesquely twisted. As they grew, eerie plumes of mist rose from them, looking like ghostly figures standing on the hillside.
A forest was rapidly consuming the bare, desolate landscape.
Most importantly, none of it made sense.
Of course, the Little Lamb Girl was bizarre. It was also certain she possessed the ability to command various Mysterious Powers. It wasn’t strange that she could spit out sound-absorbing black mist or grow a pair of small horns.
It wouldn’t even have been strange if she had transformed into a twisted tree herself.
But for her to simply mutter an incantation and make a forest appear in reality, changing the very landscape—that *was* strange.
Because the exchange was unequal!
Spiritual Power transformed reality, Spiritual Activity enhanced its efficiency and precision, and Divine Material was the formula that governed the change.
Behind every seemingly bizarre phenomenon lay a rigorously calculated process of energy exchange.
The Little Lamb Girl couldn’t possibly possess enough Spiritual Power to “exchange” so many twisted trees into reality.
It was like trying to mill two hundred pounds of flour from ten pounds of wheat.
“Stop!”
As his thoughts raced, Han Su suddenly spoke in a low voice, raising his gun to point it at the Little Lamb Girl.
A string of text scrolled past his eyes. After his initial surprise, Han Su could see the flow of the power clearly. The Little Lamb Girl wasn’t using her own Spiritual Power to create these trees. Rather, her unique nature was connecting to some kind of bizarre channel.
It was as if she were acting as a “door.”
Spiritual Power that didn’t belong to this world was using her as a coordinate, pouring frantically into reality.
That was what was so bizarre about her.
If she were just a bizarre creature, she wouldn’t actually be that terrifying.
According to the Qinggang Disaster Management Bureau’s standards, she would be considered a B Level anomaly at most—and a non-aggressive one at that.
But now, seeing that she could connect to that door, she should be classified as A Level, or even higher.
Fortunately, although the power the Little Lamb Girl displayed was terrifying, she herself was just as fragile as Han Su had judged. She was even a bit timid. The moment his gun was pointed at her, she immediately stopped, looking back at him with an innocent expression.
She didn’t understand why he had stopped her when she was clearly trying to help.
‘So, what exactly is she?’
Han Su was slightly relieved to see her stop, but the questions in his mind only grew more turbulent.
Looking at the small, tender horns on the Little Lamb Girl’s head and her innocent, dark eyes, Han Su’s mind stirred. He superimposed her image onto a figure from his memory.
‘Lady Meat Horn?’
The Little Lamb Girl had an aura that was remarkably similar to that of Lady Meat Horn from the second floor of the Ancient Castle.
Meanwhile, down below, Investigator Wei Ya’s expression had turned exceptionally grim. In a low, accusatory tone, he snarled at the Count, “I knew you were betraying Giant Horn City’s research, but looking at this now, what you’ve done is so much more than just betrayal!”
“The power of the Black Goat can be researched, but you can’t touch what’s taboo!”
“Individual Black Goats are controllable, but a Black Goat that can summon the Fertile Forest… that’s a true youngling…”
“You…”
“You really fucking live up to the world’s stereotype of your kind: arrogant, stupid, and with a death wish…”
“…”
Count Albarrez was furious as well, feeling as though his trump card had just been ripped from his hands. He cursed under his breath, “What’s the use of saying all this now? This is all that stupid Mercenary’s fault! Let’s work together to deal with him first, and then—”
“And then, my ass!”
Mr. Wei Ya exploded, “You think after something like this, we’d still work with you?”
“If she’s discovered by the Circulating Knight Order, the fallout isn’t something a single Count like you can handle! It’ll drag us all down with you!”
“…”
As he spoke, the surface of the green leather suitcase in his hand began to shift. Jade-green scales came to life, flowing like water and quickly covering his body until he looked as if he had turned into a python.
His clothes tore at the chest, and a bizarre, serpentine, vertical pupil suddenly snapped open right in the center of it.
Realizing the gravity of the situation, he attacked without hesitation, even revealing his own physical mutation.
It was now perfectly clear to him that Giant Horn City had misjudged the situation from the very beginning.
At first, the leadership of Giant Horn City thought this was merely a valuable research breakthrough achieved through some forbidden experiment. It had value, certainly, but it wasn’t a matter of life and death. That was why they had only hired a team of Mercenaries to seize the results.
But in reality, this was nothing short of a nuclear bomb.
“HISSS…”
The moment Investigator Wei Ya exposed the eye, the air filled with the eerie sound of reptilian hissing. The air grew thick and viscous. When the vertical pupil looked forward, it acted like a light source, casting countless bizarre shadows.
These shadows possessed an unnatural vitality, twisting and writhing like living things, throwing everything into chaos.
The body of every Tier Two individual undergoes various mutations. This is because they are Stealing Mysterious Power, and that stolen power in turn affects their Divine Material, causing their physical forms to change.
