Thanks SinEaster for the golden ticket.
....
The crowd erupted.
"He stopped her!"
"She can’t overpower him anymore!"
"He’s actually fighting her!"
The girl gritted her teeth.
She accelerated.
Tolu moved with her.
Their battle became faster.
She struck.
Tolu blocked.
He countered.
She dodged.
She attacked again.
Tolu’s hammer smashed against the ground.
A wave of earth rose.
She broke through it.
Tolu was already waiting.
His hammer struck.
She blocked with both arms.
The impact forced her backward.
She tried to regain control.
Tolu didn’t give her the chance.
His earth energy surged.
The ground beneath her feet cracked.
A pillar rose.
She jumped.
Another appeared.
Then another.
The battlefield began changing around them.
Tolu was no longer fighting the way he had against Kola.
He wasn’t reacting.
He was controlling the battlefield.
The girl realized it.
She changed direction.
Tolu followed.
She tried to approach from the side.
A wall appeared.
She broke through it.
Tolu’s hammer was waiting behind it.
BOOM!
She was thrown backward.
She landed on one knee.
Blood appeared at the corner of her mouth.
The arena had become completely silent.
Tolu stood several meters away.
His breathing was heavy.
Rising Monolith had already drained a tremendous amount of energy.
But now that he had stopped hiding his cultivation, the girl could no longer overwhelm him.
She stood.
Her eyes hardened.
She gathered everything she had.
A powerful surge of energy surrounded her.
The spectators immediately realized what she was attempting.
"She’s using everything!"
"She’s not giving up!"
The girl charged.
Tolu raised his hammer.
Earth energy gathered beneath the battlefield.
The monolith behind him began to tremble.
Tolu looked at his opponent.
Then at the edge of the arena.
His expression became calm.
He whispered one word.
"Monolith Rose."
The ground exploded.
The massive stone structure erupted upward.
The force was tremendous.
The girl had just reached Tolu when the rising monolith caught her beneath her feet.
Her eyes widened.
She was launched upward.
Higher.
Higher.
Then the stone suddenly tilted.
The entire force of the technique sent her flying sideways.
She crossed the boundary of the battlefield.
The formations activated instantly.
Her body was stopped before she could hit the arena wall.
The referee’s voice thundered across the arena.
"The Inaara Family’s candidate has left the battlefield!"
He raised his hand.
"Tolu wins!"
For several seconds, nobody reacted.
Then the entire arena exploded.
Thousands of spectators shouted at once.
Tolu stood in the center of the battlefield.
His chest rose and fell heavily.
The massive monolith slowly crumbled behind him.
Chunks of stone collapsed onto the arena floor.
The girl from the Inaara Family was helped back toward the preparation area.
She looked back at Tolu.
There was no anger in her eyes.
Only disbelief.
She had entered the battle knowing she had an advantage.
She had been an Advanced cultivator for a long time.
She had expected to overwhelm him with superior cultivation and experience.
Instead, she had forced him to reveal the cultivation he had deliberately hidden.
And once he stopped holding back, the battle had changed completely.
Above them, the VIP section was no longer quiet.
The representatives of the seven great forces were speaking rapidly.
Some were staring directly at Tolu.
Others were discussing him with the people beside them.
The young cultivator who had entered the competition as a relatively unknown candidate from the Omimi Family’s weakest branch had just defeated an experienced Initial Advanced cultivator from the Inaara Family.
....
The atmosphere in the VIP section had changed.
Nobody was casually chatting anymore.
Not after what had just happened.
The revelation of Tolu’s cultivation had spread through the arena like a spark through dry grass.
Initial Advanced.
A young man who had entered the competition representing the weakest branch of the Omimi Family had concealed his cultivation until now.
And then he had used a technique powerful enough to turn the battlefield itself into a weapon.
Several representatives of the seven great forces were still watching the battlefield below.
Their attention eventually shifted toward one man.
Jide.
He sat comfortably in his seat, looking down at the arena.
The corners of his mouth were raised slightly.
He wasn’t jumping around.
He wasn’t celebrating.
He wasn’t loudly announcing that Tolu belonged to his branch.
He simply looked... pleased, trying as much as possible to keep his happiness bottles up inside.
Very pleased.
One of the people form the osupa dudud academy finally spoke turning to face jide.
"Jide."
Jide turned.
"Yes?"
"That young man."
Jide glanced toward the battlefield.
"Tolu?"
The representative frowned slightly.
"You know him?"
Jide smiled.
"Of course."
Another representative leaned closer.
"How?"
Jide leaned back in his chair.
"He’s a friend of my brother-in-law."
The room went quiet for a moment.
"Your brother-in-law?"
"Yes."
Jide took a sip of his drink.
"He was recommended by my wife."
Several people exchanged looks.
One of them couldn’t help asking.
"And how did your wife come across someone like him?"
Jide’s smile widened slightly.
"My brother-in-law is inexperienced."
He said it with the casualness of a man discussing an ordinary family matter.
"He hasn’t had much experience with combat, so my wife didn’t think it was appropriate for him to compete."
He paused.
" We don’t have any children who can participate yet so she suggested Tolu instead."
The representative stared at him.
"She simply suggested him?"
Jide nodded.
"Yes."
"And you accepted?"
"Of course."
Another man looked toward the battlefield.
Tolu had just revealed an Initial Advanced cultivation.
He was still fighting.
And judging by the pressure coming from below, he was clearly not an ordinary Initial Advanced cultivator.
The man’s eyelid twitched.
Jide continued.
"I don’t have any children who can participate."
He sighed lightly.
"And my brother-in-law is still inexperienced. So my wife suggested him."
He smiled again.
"It seems to have paid off."
Several people wanted to stab him.
Not metaphorically.
Actually stab him.
They kept their expressions composed through sheer discipline.
Because what kind of luck was this?
They had spent years searching for talented younger cultivators.
Families had spent enormous amounts of resources nurturing children from a young age.
Academies had carefully selected promising students.
Some forces had spent months preparing their candidates for this competition.
And this man had somehow acquired an Initial Advanced cultivator by listening to his wife.
As if he had eaten luck for breakfast.
One representative forced a smile.
"Your wife has quite the eye for talent."
Jide nodded.
"She does."
Another man’s mouth twitched.
He looked away before his irritation became obvious.
If cultivators of this caliber were really this easy to acquire, then perhaps they had all been wasting their time preparing for the competition.
Jide seemed completely unaware of their frustration.
Or perhaps he simply didn’t care.
He continued watching the battlefield with a satisfied expression.
A sly-looking man sitting nearby suddenly smiled.
"Well..."
Jide glanced at him.
The man leaned slightly closer.
"My wife’s younger sister is around his age."
Jide raised an eyebrow.
The man’s smile became wider.
"She’s quite talented herself and a beauty to behold."
Several people immediately understood where this was going.
"I could arrange for the two of them to meet."
Jide stared at him for a moment.
Then he smiled.
"I’ll let him know."
The man nodded.
"Good."
Another representative immediately joined.
"My family has a daughter around his age as well."
Someone else cleared his throat.
"My granddaughter is..."
A third man looked toward Jide.
"I have a niece who..."
Jide listened to all of them.
One after another.
His smile never disappeared.
Inside, he was enjoying himself immensely.
But outwardly, he remained perfectly composed.
When they finished, he simply said,
"I’ll let him know."
Then he looked back toward the battlefield.
"But I think he’s focused on cultivation right now."
The sly man’s smile tightened.
"Of course."
Jide nodded.
"He’s quite serious about it."
Nobody said anything.
For a moment, the only sound was the roar of the spectators below.
Then one representative muttered,
"How fortunate."
Jide looked at him.
"Very."
The man nearly choked.
Several people immediately turned their attention back toward the arena.
They had decided that continuing this conversation would only make their blood pressure worse.
Below them, the battle continued.
Tolu was still fighting.
His Initial Advanced aura remained exposed.
The representatives watched carefully.
The smug expression on Jide’s face was no longer the only thing irritating them.
They had a more important problem now.
Tolu was becoming someone worth fighting over.
And Jide had somehow gotten him almost by accident.
The seven forces returned their attention to the battlefield.
Nobody spoke for a while.
But several of them were already reconsidering what they had thought about the young man from the Omimi Family’s weakest branch.
The competition had changed.
And so had Tolu’s value. Jide thought of his wife again almost grinning like an idiot on drugs. She is his luck just as he told her. Getting access to this kind of talent.
He looked at his cousins also form the omimi family drowning as all their candidates have been eliminated. He smile thinking in his mind.
