The dragon's harem
Chapter 2278: The Demon Of Destruction
Kayden stared at the Avatar standing in front of him as Azrael’s ghosts tore through many of the swarming abominations. His eyes moved slightly, and he spoke.
"How exhausting." Kayden pointed his sword forward with a stern gaze.
The Avatar looked back at Kayden’s glowing six eyes and smiled underneath his hood. "It doesn’t matter how much you all fight back; my plan will never change." His tentacles burst forward at blinding speed, but before they could even extend a meter forward, they were already slashed to pieces.
Everything shook, and the ground cracked as Kayden closed his eyes, leaving only one pair. The sword in his hand rang faintly as he pointed it down, and the tentacles he slashed were diced into pieces.
"I always wanted to ask, father of the abominations. Why have you never used your innate power? For as long as we fought, you only used your tentacles and raw physical power." Kayden was right, as Nyar had only used his tentacles and raw power to fight, never tapping into any mystical ability.
"My powers aren’t to be used against the likes of you; there only one being that would require me to use them." The avatar chuckled, "Unlike you, this body of mine is disposable, and I can make many of them. As long as my plans work, I have no other need to waste energy."
"Then I too won’t go all out." Kayden suddenly disappeared and emerged right behind Nyar’s avatar, swinging his sword.
[Demon Dance: Absolute Severance]
His blade slashed the Avatar in half from head to groin, but the abominable monster reformed immediately and turned around at blinding speed, sending his tentacles right at Kayden’s side like a titanic whip.
Kayden blocked the attack with his sword, but the hit was powerful enough that it sent him flying backward at immense speed, faster than any of the gods and angels fighting around could ever see. Yet he still landed on his feet, slid back a few hundred meters, and looked forward with burning red eyes, seeing the endless swarm of tentacles flying at him like spears.
The veins on his legs and arms bulged; those veins quickly turned black and extended up his neck to his eyes. In the next fraction of a second, Kayden was already flying forward at nearly the speed of light, having slashed many of the tentacles as he aimed directly at the Avatar’s head.
At that moment, Kayden’s red eyes noticed something, but it was already far too late. His entire body was blown back even faster than he had rushed forward, and the entire area burst and exploded from the shockwave.
The avatar laughed as thin, hair-like tentacles danced around him. "See those ones? I can make them even smaller. You won’t even see them moving." He swung one of those tentacles and ripped a mountain-sized hole in the crust of the universe with ease.
"How is your body feeling? I hit with you hundreds of thousands of those tentacles all at once. Did you turn into blood mist, or did you get completely evaporated? God Slayer Kayden!"
As the avatar’s voice boomed across the devastated land, a snarl was heard as Kayden stood, perfectly unharmed except that his already tattered shirt was almost torn off.
"Would’ve been better if that attack killed me." He glared at the avatar. "Lily is going to kill me. She bought me this shirt a thousand years ago."
"It was already tearing apart from our earlier clash. Why don’t you use your full power? Two eyes aren’t enough to match me. Pull all six of them out and take your demonic form. In your current state, you won’t be able to even land a single hit on me."
Kayden took a deep breath, and his two demonic eyes opened wide. What he could see, what he was feeling, and the stale cold breeze on his chest- it all burned slightly. The smell of his burned shirt burning on the ground, and the rancid blood being spilled everywhere.
Everything seemed to slow down for a second, and his heart stopped beating. ^Kayden... Kayden... wake up. It’s already noon.^ He could clearly hear Lily’s voice calling and waking him up. He could feel Kali’s small hands pushing him around and hear the rattle of chimes he had back home.
He had gone from a dog trainer, to a bandit, to a cursed fighter, a demonic monster, a rampaging demon, a god-slaying paragon of destruction, and finally a retired dad...
[Hakai]
Kayden disappeared, and when he appeared next, he was standing behind Nyar’s avatar, sheathing his sword. "Bark as much as you like, rabid mutt."
All of Nyar’s tentacles got torn apart, even the thin ones, and his body was also diced to pieces.
The shockwave only followed a fraction of a second later, and that entire section of the battlefield was torn apart and destroyed. When the angels fighting from afar looked in horror, they saw a demonic warrior wearing human skin clashing with an abhorrent mass of alien tentacles and black tar.
Even the archons couldn’t follow their movements, given how fast and bizarre the fight was. One was an abominable mass of tentacles that twisted and contorted like a pit of hungry snakes, and the other was a pure incarnation of destruction that moved like a ghost.
One of the archons gasped as she jumped back, barely avoiding a severed tentacle that flew toward her at blinding speed. "That’s the god slayer; he is standing up toe to toe with the Avatar!" She shouted, and looked back at the other angels. "Don’t let down! Protect the summoning array, protect the newbie void dragons, exterminate all of the abominations!"
As the angels moved to attack the abominations, the avatar who led those abominations just watched from afar, making sure everything was going according to plan.
There were a few issues... the avatar that was supposed to kill Baal and then join everyone else is now busy with Azrael, and Kayden is less destructive than expected, which means he caught on to Nyar’s plan. Nyar had planned that his fight with Kayden should be titanic enough to get several angels killed as collateral, but it seems that Kayden wasn’t going to play along.
Then, above, Amaterasu and Yog weren’t fighting at all, since they knew that if they did, they would end up destroying the entire place. It was a stalemate until one of the sides lost one of their heavy hitters. The weak point of this entire clash now was... Azrael.
Should he move? Or should he wait? He thought silently as his tentacles deflected tens of archons who were trying to reach him. Even if they were extremely powerful, taking down an avatar was nearly impossible for them. Especially since the avatar leading the abominable army had the most power of all the avatars that Nyar brought to this fight, as he was expecting to use it to face Arad when he shows up.
