Chapter 1956: Innate Fear
Chapter 1956: Innate Fear
When Arad finished his pushups, Kali jumped away from his back and approached one of her archons. She looked at the tall woman with a smile, inspected her arms and legs for a second, and then slapped her on the butt, sending her toward Arad. “Go, and don’t embarrass yourself.”
The archon sighed, “Really? I’ll just get it done with.” She threw a glance toward Arad, who was exhausted to the bones and panting. “I can see why your divinity loves him, but he is far too weak compared to you.”
She clenched a fist, engulfed it with divine magic, and flashed toward Arad at blinding speed. “Especially when tired.”
But her fist missed and flew right past Arad’s head. The mere shockwave of her attack tore the ground behind him and set the golden ground ablaze. The archon blinked, and the others watching did the same as her face burned bright red.
Arad didn’t move an inch, yet she missed her punch. Did she overswing, or did she do it on purpose to test him? There were many possibilities, but looking at hr bright red face told a whole other story. She didn’t do it on purpose, but missed her attack.
Arad took a deep breath and straightened his back. Immediately, the now embarrassed archon growled and swung her fist right at his face, aiming to send his head flying. But, just like before, her attack completely missed its mark, and even Arad blinked this time.
As Arad stared at her, she took a step back, confused at what had just happened, and immediately threw a kick at his face in rage, but the kick also missed, and she almost stumbled and fell. At this moment, she had already realised that something was awfully wrong; Arad wasn’t even dodging, and she missed all of her attacks.
One is a coincidence, two is ridiculous, and three times is a major problem. How come she, who killed hundreds of thousands of abominations on the frontlines, a veteran of a cosmic war, misses three of her attacks consecutively against an exhausted opponent who shouldn’t be a match for what she usually fights.
Kali smiled from ear to ear in the back. “Your body is afraid, and it doesn’t want to land a hit on him.” She giggled. “Arad, unless you ring the bell for the fight to start, she won’t have the courage to start a fight with you.”
“Your divinity!” The archon cried, and the other archons watching also glared at Kali in concern. They knew their friend well, and knew she was a violent monster who knows no fear.
“It is the truth. Arad, start the fight.” She waved her hand at them and went to check the reports. While away, she had heard several concerning pieces of news.
Arad clapped his hands to get the dust away and threw a glance at the archon. “It is fine now, we can start. Don’t worry, even if I’m exhausted, that doesn’t mean I can’t fight.” He took a stance, “I’m pretty sure you were just afraid of beating me while I’m exhausted from training, the others would’ve made fun of you because of it.”
Her face twisted, and in a fit of rage, she jumped forward with a clenched fist. Was he underestimating her? She doesn’t understand what trick he used, but she won’t let it slide. With a solid stomp, she jumped and sent her knee right at his face.
Arad opened his arms wide and threw a foot forward as he launched and hugged hips in a tackle. Her knee flew right beside his head, and in the end, his face ended up right between her legs. His left arm grabbed her right leg, the one she tried to hit him with, and held it tight close to her chest, and her other leg was dangling down, unable to make a single move.
“Bastard!” She growled, “Get your face away from my…” She swung both fists down, trying to crush his skull, but before she could land a hit, Arad’s arm moved and grabbed her by the hair, pulling her head back. She struggled to hit him many times, but she couldn’t. One leg was grabbed, the other couldn’t land a hit, and both of her arms couldn’t reach him with her head pulled back so much.
“Put me down! Put me down!” As she screamed, Arad sighed, slowly released his grip, and put her down like a child. “Here you go.”
Kali laughed in the back, “Arad, you should’ve bit her off. That would’ve taught her not to make such a big move.”
The archon growled, and Kali leaned on her chair as she read through the reports. “If you lose, you’ll be sucking him off. You’re at least five times as strong as him, so try to put up a fight at least.”
Without wasting a second, the archon quickly threw a fist at Arad’s face, aiming at his jaw. He, on the other hand, chose not to be active. He was still exhausted, so if she wasn’t attacking, he had better be resting.
Arad dodged her punch this time and swung a kick at her ankle, dropping her to the ground in a single move. As she hit the ground, her eyes blinked, and pupils burned golden as she glared at him. “What was that?”
Arad looked at her. “Mathilda kicks better than you.” Arad could easily deal with her first knee strike because he had already fought Mathilde and trained a bit with her. Even though some called her the foot-fetish angel, when it comes to kicks, she was the best. This kick now was also one of Mathilde’s moves. “Right now, I should be stomping your face to the ground.”
He moved back, and the archon jumped to her feet. “You, learned from her?”
Arad nodded. “Of course, I learned from many people. But I was just wondering, what could I learn from you now? This is training after all.”
The archon stared at him for a second, took a deep breath, and then shook her face, approached him, and gave him a bow.
“Indeed, I was called here by her Divinity Kali to train you, not start a fight like a child. I should’ve known better. For now, let this fight of ours be focused on you learning as much as possible.” She then slowly lifted her head, and Arad nodded.
“Very well, let’s see what we could achieve.” Hearing him, the archon smiled and flicked her fingers, summoning a large boulder by their side.
“Look at my hand.” She lifted her forearm, and it started vibrating. “With my strength and speed, I can spazz my muscles at a very high speed, causing this vibration.” She touched the boulder, and her palm tore through it with ease and without facing much resistance.
“I cause destruction through violent vibrations.” She smiled. “While not that powerful with bare hand, it is the best power to use with sharp weapons. Damage solid defences.”
Arad smiled, “Well, I know of something similar, but it is nowhere near yours. Nina, one of my wives, could do a single powerful punch that has enough strength to tear her bones and muscles apart. It seems that this is similar, just repeated a lot of times.”
She lifted an eyebrow. “They aren’t the same… but, I got a fun idea.” She threw a glance back at Kali and then looked back at him. “I’ll let you hit me in the guts once with that attack you just mentioned, and try to make it like mine. If it hurts me and I find it strong, I won’t just suck you off; I’ll entertain you for a night.”
“Your Divinity, you don’t mind, do you?” She called, and Kali smiled. “Of course not. Arad, do your best.”
