Chapter 1654: The Queen of Queens
Chapter 1654: The Queen of Queens
With Isdis and Kory taking a huge load off Undine’s back, she could finally focus on the battle against the other three spirits. She now has several drakainas helping regenerate mana, and even time to breathe.
But her fight didn’t grow any easier. With each passing second, the abomination was getting used to the powers of the queens, and it was rapidly growing stronger and more harrowing. Nar’s flame could already melt Undine’s ice, and Gaia’s mountains were heavy and hard enough to shatter the titanic limbs of her Walking Glacier.
At this rate, she’ll lose in less than five minutes. The reinforcement had only bought her a couple of minutes at best. The only saving grace was that Zephyr was strangely not getting any stronger, but becoming weaker the longer the fight drew on.
Zephyr’s wind failed to push Undine’s Walking Glacier more often than not; she couldn’t contain her blizzard anymore, and even her speed became slower and slower. She was either running out of mana or the abomination had failed to completely take control.
The first case was impossible, so the latter was most likely the reality of what’s happening.
Undine didn’t know much about Zephyr, but from what little she heard from the other Queens, she was supposed to be an absolute monster that masqueraded as a cute little fairy. She had seen so many conflicting things from Zephyr that it was hard to understand or find the truth.
On one side, she saw Zephyr swimming naked in a barrel of wine, getting dragged around by Aella, or acting like a clown, telling jokes and playing with the kids around the castle.
She looked more like a carefree pixie than a Spirit Queen, often showing no power or pride, just a happy-go-lucky woman with no presence at all.
But on the other hand, Undine had seen the other queens shutting up the moment Zephyr stared at them. She had seen Nar’s ecstatic face as she sucked on Zephyr’s toes, and saw the twisted faces of terror on some devils when they merely heard Zephyr’s name being mentioned.
Undine then decided to ask Gaia about her, since Gaia looked the friendliest and most mature of the Spirit Queens. She simply told her that Zephyr’s word is law, and that Zephyr is to the Spirit Queens what a Spirit Queen is to the regular spirits.
Right now, Undine was about to see the scary face of Zephyr, the part she never shows in public or to anyone. The reason everyone feared her, and why she could act so carefree without a single care in the world.
The air suddenly froze, literally getting held in place as Zephyr stopped flying. The snow got suspended in the air, and the world came to a screeching halt. If Undine had blood, she would feel it draining out of her face. Her eyes weren’t deceiving her; the air itself stopped moving.
The cataclysmic war between the Queens came to a sudden halt, and everyone looked up, pale and terrified. Waves of divine and cursed magic started crackling above the clouds like lightning, and a dreadful presence slowly took hold of the entire world.
Something ancient, powerful, and outrageous was coming to life.
Zephyr’s hand moved, grabbing her own face and sinking her nails beneath the skin. “Fucker, what do you think you’re doing?” She growled, her voice coming from the entire world, and her clone’s face twisted in shock.
Waves of wind magic started boiling around her, and everyone could feel an insane amount of pressure falling on their bodies.
The entire world cracked. As the air was forced to freeze in place by Zephyr’s will, the planet could no longer spin because it was scraping on the air and being pinned down.
The planet could no longer spin, so the pressure building beneath the tectonic plates rapidly grew. That caused countless volcanoes to burst out of nowhere. Zephyr had once fought Gaia before, and this was how she won that fight. If Gaia didn’t kneel and submit at the time, Zephyr would’ve used her wind, the entire atmosphere, to choke the entire world.
But when the magma of those volcanoes tried spilling out, it couldn’t because the air felt like a lid, plugging the volcanoes’ gaping maws.
The clouds in the sky fell, getting crushed to the ground, and Undine’s Walking Glacier fell to its knees, engulfed in cracks. All of the spirit Queens hit the ground, and even Plum’s world tree groaned and cracked.
No one could breathe or speak, and they weren’t even allowed to move as the very air around them had become as heavy and as hard as steel.
“GET OUT!” Zephyr’s hand moved, slowly tearing the skin off her face, and the wind magic started boiling around her, turning into a raging black tornado.
As Zephyr tore the clone’s face off, a clean, green face of pure wind magic slowly emerged, but she wasn’t done. She then started clawing at her neck, chest, and torso, ripping her own body apart to reveal the radiant energy hidden inside.
As everyone watched in horror, Zephyr tore her body apart into pieces and remained standing there as a mass of green wind magic, slowly coming to shape. She took a vague humanoid shape, finally getting rid of that annoying flesh body that had gotten infected.
Then, Gaia and Nar screamed, forcing themselves free, and flew at Zephyr, trying to take her down before she could fully regain her power. But they were too late; her violence was just starting. She grabbed both of them by the face and glared at them with burning emerald eyes.
Gaia commanded several mountains to fly and crush Zephyr, while Nar conjured a titanic wave of crimson flames. But before their magic could even approach, Zephyr’s wind came crashing down, pinning the mountains to the ground and snuffing Nar’s flames like they were a weak match.
“Gaia… Keep your mountains anchored to the ground, and you, Nar, how many times do I need to tell you not to play with fire?”
She threw Nar to the ground and stomped on her face, pinning her down as she started slowly skinning the screaming Gaia alive. “Come on, what’s this face. You don’t look how I remember you. I see… that abomination must’ve taken control and transformed your bodies like it did mine. Don’t worry, I’ll tear him off. It’ll hurt, but you aren’t kids anymore; you can take a bit of pain and live.”
Zephyr ripped Gaia’s skin and flesh off with her bare hands, leaving her as a massive mass of roiling earth magic, and then turned to Nar. “Your turn.”
Nar tried to run away, but it was of no use. Zephyr lifted her up and started skinning her as well. Nar screamed and cried, but everything failed. Soon, she too was left as a mass of crimson flames, torn back to her basic elemental nature.
Rilyeh disengaged from Isdis and Kory, quickly flying at Zephyr with a blue trident in her hand. At this point, since the abomination lost three Spirit Queens, it could focus more control on Rilyeh and push her power to its maximum limit.
As the trident flashed, the abomination commanded all of the world’s oceans to fly at once and crush Zephyr. But to its surprise, they didn’t move, their surface staying as flat as a sheet of glass, pressed down by Zephyr’s wind.
Zephyr grabbed Rilyeh by the neck and glared at her eyes. “Rilyeh, you haven’t angered me in centuries. I guess, this would be the first time in a while.” Unlike the others, she didn’t skin her alive. But instead, engulfed her in a violent torrent of wind.
In mere seconds, Rilyeh’s flesh dried out and turned into dust, while the water that had left it consolidated into a single bubble of energy, which was her true form.
Salamander wasn’t even willing to fight and instead burst away to run, only to get caught by a second Zephyr. And there weren’t just two, as long as she had air, she could create as many avatars as her mind could manage, and Salamander was going to suffer dearly for trying to run away.
Like she did with Nar and Gaia, she skinned her alive and pulled the flames from her core out.
Then, Zephyr’s eyes shifted toward Undine, and the poor Spirit Queen shivered. But before Zephyr could rip the Walking Glacier to pieces and tear Undine out, Isdis grabbed her by the hand.
“Calm down, she didn’t get infected.”
The moment Zephyr joined the fight, it had turned into a one-sided massacre. All of the Queens combined, even at their best, won’t stand a chance against her.
Zephyr smiled. “Isdis, did Plum bring you here?” She quickly changed to look more human and hugged her. “AH! You’re cold, my nipples are getting stuck to your armor!”
But sadly, there was no time to celebrate. All of the abominations’ hosts have died. Even those clones that hid underground. All of them had been burned by the rising pressure inside the planet since Zephyr forced it to stop spinning.
Now, it was the time for that horror to reveal its true face. Hopefully, Claug should’ve made something useful.
