Chapter 1607: Controlled Wild Magic
Chapter 1607: Controlled Wild Magic
The dragon landed on the wall of his castle, several hundred meters away from where Lucy punched him. His face hurt a bit, and she might’ve dislocated one of his teeth, but it wasn’t anything that his healing can’t deal with.
He pushed himself off the wall and lunged back at her with a large smile. He flew through the darkness of the cavern, engulfed by a red flash of fire, his fist sparked crimson, and it rushed to greet Lucy’s nose.
Lucy was about to attack a second time, but she decided that dodging his attack was for the best. The second thing she hates most is pain, so she’d rather this fool never touch her.
She slapped his fist away and spun around his arm, throwing a spinning kick at his face.
The dragon blinked as he used jets of flames to push himself back and dodge her counterattack, swifting, getting some distance away. While he used jets of fire to hover in place, Lucy could stand directly on the air without much of a problem.
She stood on her left leg, keeping her right foot up as if she were ready to kick. Her long and sharp toe claws were black and dripped with blood. Only when he saw them did the dragon realize that she had cut his cheek open.
He reached up and touched his face, seeing his palm painted red with blood. Only when he touched the wounds did they start hurting, which was both scary and impressive.
“Got some sharp talons there. What kind of monster are you?” He looked at her with a grin, his wounds rapidly healing.
“Don’t…” She flew at him with a lightning-fast kick. “Stare at them!”
The dragon dodged her attack with a smile, “You’re…” But before he could finish speaking, a thunderous blast exploded from the kick, followed by a blinding lightning burst.
The entire cavern was illuminated, and everyone looked up, terrified and shocked by the sudden explosion. A second later, something heavy crashed in the middle of the plaza, sending everyone there into panic.
As the denizens of the city ran away screaming, Lucy walked past them with a passive, aloof face.
The red dragon emerged from the rubble, half of his body charred and burned, but he was still smiling. “Lightning magic, is that the best you can do?” Walking through the rising dust, his flames burst, charring the whole plaza clean.
From the streets, Lucy walked in, glaring at him with a large smile. Her opal teeth reflected the dragon’s face as her radiant blue eyes reflected an even bigger, higher, and more profound existence.
Looking at her eyes, the red dragon could feel a shiver run down his spine. He is a wyrm and could tell. Behind the little girl’s eyes, there lies a dragon, staring right back at him.
Lucy suddenly disappeared, and the red dragon gasped. He could sense the spark of her magic flying past him. He turned around, seeing her standing on the wall of a building, throwing the shattered window at him.
The dragon flew back, burned the window, melted its glass, and kicked it back at Lucy. To which she swallowed whole with a single bite.
Seeing Lucy’s mouth turn into a massive, harrowing maw, the dragon started to believe he was facing a true divine being. He could sense that whatever made her mouth like that, it was divine in nature, and no paladin or cleric could manifest such a thing.
“Oi! Oi! Oi! Little girl, don’t tell me you’re a real goddess.” He flew at her and threw a barrage of punches. Lucy retorted the same, throwing her own attacks, a storm of slashes using her long and sharp nails.
The dragon’s fists shattered her nails, and her palms swatted his fists away. For half a minute, the entire plaza turned into a boiling storm of fire and shockwaves, ripping the ground apart.
The angels looked at the fight from afar as they rescued the victims of the city, slaves, children, treasures, even rare animals and monsters.
“Her divinity, Lucy…” One of the angels looked with a somber face. “She moves like him.”
Another one looked at her. “Of course, who do you think trains her? Have you ever been punched by King Gojo?”
The angel paled and looked down, terrified. “I trained with him once and got punched. I threw up. Till this day, my stomach still hurts.”
The other angel nodded, “She can handle that daily. She isn’t our goddess without a reason.”
Lucy put both of her open palms together, pointing at the red dragon with all of her fingers. It was time for her to get serious a bit.
“An elemental expansion? Sorry, that won’t work here. My runes don’t just block divine magic; they block any magic I don’t allow.”
Lucy glared at him with a calm face. “Spin, wheel of fortune!”
A blinding flash burst above her head, and the red dragon was forced to jump backward as fast as he could, covering his eyes. He smashed into one of the buildings, shattering it into a rain of rubble and debris.
Lucy’s fist flew from the dust at his face. He dodged, but she swung again. This time, he blocked the attack and threw her to the ground. He lifted his foot and stomped down, trying to crush her head.
The dragon’s foot landed on the cold stone, shattering it into a million pieces. “Running away!” He grew and roared, exploding into a massive rose of fire. As all the dust burned to ash and the air cleared, the dragon gasped.
Two blue eyes glared back at him from the smoke, and soon, those two eyes turned into ten, surrounding him from all directions.
He was surrounded by five of Lucy, each one of them having a word written on her forehead with bold letters.
Fool
Star
Wheel of Fortune
World
Judgment
The Star Lucy lunged at him and grabbed his face with her hands. “Let’s go to the stars!”
The Wheel of Fortune Lucy smiled, “Lucky, the rolls are on our side.”
All of them disappeared and found themselves in the vacuum of space, far above the mortal world.
While the five versions of Lucy were fine, the red dragon wasn’t. His blood boiled, and his lungs almost collapsed, unable to draw air.
The Fool Lucy laughed in the back. She said something, but the red dragon couldn’t hear it because they were out in space.
The World Lucy clapped her hands, ordering the world to release its shackles and free her. All gods, including Lucy and Eris, were heavily nerfed inside the many worlds of the universe, simply because their power was too great. As seen earlier, Eris almost destroyed the world when she became a goddess because the world was yet to nerf her.
The shackles around Lucy’s divine power were released, and all of her power flew into her once more.
The Judgment Lucy looked at the dragon with a grin, pointing a finger at him with a judging eye. Her eyes flashed blue, and her mouth then expanded into a massive maw, lined with thousands and thousands of rows of teeth.
Everyone on that side of the mortal world could see it: a harrowing, monstrous maw bigger than the moon suddenly appeared in the sky. It bit what looked like a small red flash of light and then disappeared.
Lucy appeared again inside the underground city. She looked around, then puked the dragon’s massive corpse out. A mountain of rotten ground flesh emerged at the side of the city, too disgusting to look at.
“Gojo, don’t worry. Now that they saw how their boss ended up, I’m sure his lackeys would be more willing to answer a few questions.”
While being restrained by the world, Lucy’s power can roughly match a great wyrm. But she is the only goddess who could lift those restrictions thanks to a technique based on her wild magic.
Besides normal wild magic, she managed to refine a version of it that has twenty-two tarot cards. Each card has its own effect, a 50% chance of working, and a 50% chance of backfiring.
The cards are:
The World: Can give one order to the world. If the card backfired, Lucy would get thrown out of the world for a minute.
The Fool: Make both Lucy and her opponent more prone to making bad decisions. If the card backfires, they both get stupidified for a minute.
The Magician: Allow Lucy to copy the spell list of one mage she knows. If the card backfires, she can’t use magic for a whole day.
The High Priestess: Grant Lucy True Immortality for five minutes as long as she has worshippers. If the card backfires, she still gets the True Immortality, but her highest priestesses take upon her injuries and wounds.
The Empress: Everyone mistakes Lucy for their empress for a short while, and they are compelled to follow her order. This even affects the gods, and they’ll mistake her for Amaterasu. If this card backfires, Lucy would be seen as a tyrant by everyone affected.
The Emperor: Lucy must pick one person to be her emperor for an hour; she’ll transform into him and have access to all of his power, but in exchange, after the timer ends, she must obey him for a day. If this card backfires, she must obey him for a week without getting any benefit.
The Hierophant: Upon touching someone, Lucy can learn one truth about them. If this card backfires, they learn one truth about her.
The Lovers: Lucy can magically soulbind someone to her, forcing them to fall into maddening love with her for a day. If this card backfires, she falls for them for a day.
The Chariot: With one touch, Lucy can transform anything into a silver chariot that moves at the speed of light, but usable for a single trip. If this card backfires, Lucy turns into a horse for an hour.
The Strength: Lucy loses all of her divine and magical power for an hour; in exchange, she gains physical capabilities that match them for an hour. If this card backfires, she becomes so weak that she can’t even stand for a day.
The Hermit: With one stare, Lucy can turn anyone into a dying hermit for a day. If this card fails, she turns into a hermit for a day.
The Wheel of Fortune: Actively boost the card’s success rate, and the rate becomes 75% success, 25% backfire. If this card backfires, the rates become 25% success and 75% backfire.
The Justice: With one glance, Lucy can know if someone is guilty or not of a crime she is aware of. If this card backfires, that person can commit that crime once, and Lucy would be forced to defend them.
The Hanged Man: In exchange for one life, Lucy can kill another. If this card backfires, the kill won’t happen.
The Death: Lucy can bring someone back to life from the dead, but in exchange, she must kill someone else. If this card backfires, the resurrect dies after a day.
The Temperance: With one touch, Lucy can calm and subdue all emotions and impulses in someone. If this card backfires, all of the target’s emotions and impulses explode out, making them go berserk.
The Devil: Lucy can summon and bind any devil from hell without a contract. If this card backfires, she must let the devil pick and choose his contract.
The Tower: Lucy can summon her divine heaven to any place she wishes for a day. If this card backfires, her heaven still gets summoned, but the world would destroy it.
The Star: Pull Lucy and one target into space. If this card backfires, Lucy is pulled into space alone.
The Moon: Lucy’s power is amplified by a percentage based on the moon’s state; a full moon is 100%. If this card backfires, she is weakened in the same way.
The Sun: For a day, Lucy’s power is bound to the sun; the higher it rises, the stronger she’ll get, up to 1000% at high noon. If this card backfires, Amaterasu might attack her for tarnishing the sun.
The Judgment: Lucy can pick a target she thinks is guilty of some crime and attack; that target won’t be able to resist. If this card backfires, she must endure one attack from them without resisting.
