Chapter 1470: They Needed an Alcott
Chapter 1470: They Needed an Alcott
Sylph waved her hand, pointing at the countless [Ho-white Nova]s. “Kussuth’s fire. Those things are dangerous.” She looked around, “But, I’m sure there is a misunderstanding here. I informed the archer not to fire when you come.”
She looked at Arad, “Who started the attack?”
Arad looked back, “That was me. When Mathilde told me about the rules, I couldn’t just wait until I got hit, so I decided to walk up the stairs fully ready to tank any attack. And as expected, they fired at me. So I started flying and knocking them down with gravity magic.”
Sylph’s smile flinched a bit, but she kept her calm demeanor. “Where is Mathilde? I’m sure you didn’t eat her, did you?”
Arad lifted his hand, but then his finger froze. “Yes, I ate her, that would be accurate. I’ll spit her back up.”
Sylph understood what he was talking about, but her angels didn’t. For all they know, Mathilde and Sylph usually achieved a draw when fighting, and Arad ate the archon whole. This isn’t just a dragon; this is a god devouring tyrant.
As Arad waved his hand down, Mathilde showed up and immediately looked back. This bastard of an Overgod, he really did force his way through and burned half of the mountain down. Sylph’s archers couldn’t stop him.
“At least you’re alive. How many angels died?” She glared at him, and Arad smiled, “None, and technically, I didn’t damage the mountain.”
Countless angels were dragged out of the fire, forced into small bubbles made from barrier magic and gravity. “It was their arrows that burned the mountain. All I did was fly up and try to stop them from burning their own mountain down.”
Sylph laughed, “Well, you aren’t putting those angels down.”
Arad smiled, “Of course, I need them alive and well to be usable hostages.”
Was Arad’s rampage mindless? No. He intentionally didn’t attack first, walked up the stairs with his full power and weight unleashed to intimidate the archers to fire first, and then clawed his way out without harming anyone, capturing them all one by one.
No one can blame him for coming in unrestrained; this was the domain of a god after all, why would they be scared by a mere mortal? No one can blame him for the damage because it was the archers who blew their mountain to pieces, trying to kill their harmless guest who just walked through the front door.
Mathilde looked at Sylph and then at the angels. Technically, Arad did nothing wrong, but he did it on purpose. “Wait…” She scratched the back of her head, “You could…no.” She turned toward the angels, “Why would you just… couldn’t you wait a second and see…hear, you’re blind.”
Diana walked out of Arad’s back laughing, “You all need some Alcott to help you.”
Sylph rubbed her temples and then looked around, “Diana of destruction. Forget it, I’ll deal with this mess later. The problem is that no one sent Mathilde a message telling her that the archer won’t shoot Arad. If that message was sent, he wouldn’t have pulled this out.” She looked behind her, “I can already see the reason why it didn’t get delivered.”
Mathilde looked at her, for a second, she was surprised that Sylph, for once, was wearing a decent dress. She usually only wore thin garments of gold that could barely cover her private parts, but when guests showed up, she seemed to cover herself well with a white robe.
Seconds later, an angel came rushing in toward Sylph, “I confirmed it, the message was supposed to reach Sylph this evening. They climbed the tree a bit too fast, and Core had woken up, so his magic interfered with the signal, causing an even bigger delay.”
“It seems that there is a multitude of reasons why this ended up happening.” She smiled, “You can hide those mini-suns away, no one is going to hurt anyone here. If we two were to fight, I’m sure this mountain won’t end up disappearing, even with how big it is.”
Arad looked around for a long moment and then stored the [Ho-white Nova]s away. Sylph’s angels also went away to fix the damage and put the fire out, followed by the hostages as Arad released them.
Sylph looked at Arad with her glowing ruby eyes, “Did you eat my sweet little warlock as well? I’m sure she is tasty, but probably isn’t food.”
Arad sighed and let everyone out when all of the angels headed back. The first thing Cerilla did was look back at the chaos Arad left behind him; she didn’t even notice Sylph, who was standing just a few meters away from them.
“The divine mountain! It’s burned!” Cerilla cried, and Jasmine laughed. “More like plowed and turned over while getting roasted. Was this a wizard firing range or something?”
While Cerilla was horrified, Jasmine found it funny that Arad did manage to do all of this. They were coming to visit a goddess, and he was still able to cause havoc; most people would avoid any kind of trouble here.
D looked at the still-smoking mountain slope, horrified at the amount of divine magic lingering there. She could even begin to imagine what this place looked like while getting blasted.
The only two noticed Sylph immediatly were Dalla and Plum, and the two of them had a reaction that Arad didn’t expect. Dalla stood between Cerilla’s back and Sylph, staring at the goddess with an emotionless, empty face. She was Cerilla’s bodyguard and personal maid, and she didn’t care if she had to protect her from humans or gods.
The one who almost gave Arad a heart attack was Plum, since she didn’t appear close to him, but she appeared straight out of Sylph’s cleavage. “Now, I didn’t expect them to be this big.” She flew around and glared at Sylph’s glowing ruby eyes, “Good for you.”
“I see, no wonder Yggdrasil wanted you here.” Sylph smiled and turned around, “Follow me. We’ll talk inside my… I call it a garden, but you’ll call it a royal quarter.”
When Plum back to Arad, he glared at her, “What are you doing?”
“Me? I checked to see what she wanted.” Plum made herself small and snuck into Arad’s ear, then disappeared into his stomach so they could speak in private.
“Sylph is the World Tree herald, and she had already lived like that for a few thousand years. Her body is breaking down; soon, she’ll turn into a statue of wood like Core. It’s the time for her to retire, and I believe she wants to give that mantle to Cerilla.” Plum flew around and stopped to think, “Yggdrasil is the true Elvish Deity, the Elvish goddess is just a vessel for that power.”
