Chapter 1420: Witch of The Dark Moon
Chapter 1420: Witch of The Dark Moon
Arad made his way back to Dark Moon Bay and found the army already gathering to march at the gates. Even though they knew Arad would win, they probably expected a few monsters to run past him and attack the city.
“You can relax, all the trolls ran away.” He looked at them and then glanced back at the mountain, “You probably won’t hear from them for months. But other monsters might still try something funny, so keep the usual security level.”
He walked past the soldiers, and they opened a path for him, parting and stumbling back as they tried not to stand in his way. The general from before approached Arad with a worried face, and this time, he managed to ask without waiting for anyone to speak instead of him.
“We’ve heard loud roars. What was that?”
Arad stopped walking, looked at him, and replied. “It was just an old white dragon. He was the one commanding the trolls around. I cut his tail and sent him away, so you won’t have any troubles from him in the future.”
Arad then disappeared without leaving a trace, appearing back at the castle courtyard.
He looked around, and a maid approached him. She bowed deeply and spoke in an even tone, “Her Majesty asked me to wait for you here and lead you to her once you return.”
Arad nodded, “Lead the way. Did she get what she wanted?”
The maid looked back at him as they walked. “Sadly, I don’t know. I was ordered to wait here, so I’ve never gotten inside after her.”
Arad looked at the snow and then turned to the maid, “It’s cold here. Were you fine?”
“You don’t need to worry about me. I’m an ice sorceress.” She lifted her hand, and frigid white flames burned between her long fingers.
“That isn’t a normal bloodline, is it?”
The maid stopped walking for a second, shook her head, and kept walking. “It isn’t. It’s mother’s blood. She was an ice witch, and she gave birth to me with this magic.”
Arad had never seen such a strange bloodline. Usually, the bloodline would act as a separate power from the sorcerer’s magic. But she is different; her bloodline is all the blood she has.
When Arad looked inside her, he finally understood why.
“Your mother’s magic? Why do you have her soul?” Arad lifted an eyebrow, and the maid smiled from ear to ear. “How in the nine hells did you… Jasmine was right, you’re a sharp dragon.”
She looked back at him, and her maid’s outfit disappeared, leaving her dressed in a dark robe. “I’m D, just D. The Dark Elves’ court wizard.”
She then scratched her chin, “Court Witch is more appropriate.”
“Didn’t explain your soul yet.”
She blinked, “That’s a trick? I just give birth to myself once every few centuries to keep living. Now, I’m almost three thousand years old.” She tapped her belly, “One spell and I’ll get myself pregnant using only my soul. My soul would then get transferred to the baby, and I’ll be reborn. Of course, my adult body dies giving birth, so someone has to take care of me.” She shrugged, “And before you ask, it takes a few months for my sense of self to get restored as a baby.”
Arad thought about what she said for a second and then asked, “What about making a body for a soul?”
“If you’re asking about Doma, Jasmine already asked me if I can help, and I can’t. I’m myself, so I can give birth to an exact copy of myself. For Doma to do the same, she must be alive.” She waved her hand, and a book appeared in her hand. “All the details about the spell, how it works, and how to use it.”
Arad reached forward to take the book, but D pulled her hand away, “Not so fast.”
“I’m fast.” Arad blitzed past her and snatched the book before she could notice. “See?”
D glared at him for a long moment and growled, “This isn’t what I meant. You can have the book, but not for free. Jasmine said that you’re reasonable and that I can make a bargain.”
Arad threw the book back to her. “Set your price, but I’m already full, I don’t want any more wives.”
She laughed, “You think I’ll just throw myself at you like this? You must be crazy.” She smiled, “I want you to take me to the moon.”
Arad tilted his head, “The moon? I can send you there right now. But can you survive there? There is no air for you to breathe, and your blood will boil out of your veins.”
D pulled her staff and waved her fingers across the air, forming an air-tight barrier around her body. “I already sent several puppets and golems there through magic, so I know almost everything about the moon. Did you know that something changed about the moon recently? A massive fountain of magic and mana burst there.” She approached Arad with a grin.
“I’ll be the first to explore and study whatever is there, and I’ll make sure to bring that power back for our kingdom, for Dark Elves’ glory, and for the future of Dark Moon Bay. I’ll give that name meaning.”
Hearing her talk, Arad tilted his head. “You mean a wave of demonic magic on the moon?”
D froze in place. “How do you know? Did you go there recently? Did you see what’s in there?”
Arad scratched the back of his head. “How do I explain this? That Lunara, the Demon Lord of Severing. She started living there recently, thanks to some events.”
“How? The moon is a part of the mortal world; a demon shouldn’t be allowed in unless summoned, let alone a Demon Lord.” D looked at Arad with a baffled face.
“The moon is the property of the goddess of the moon, and Lunara was allowed to create a new race of Rabbit Demons in there.” Arad reached forward and grabbed D’s staff.
“Let’s go.” D blinked, and everything was over. The two of them were standing in the middle of a massive hall. A voice boomed from afar.
“ARAD!” And Lunara flew at them, ramming herself onto Arad’s chest with a large smile on her face. “You came to visit? And who is she?”
“Lunara, this is D, Jasmine’s court witch. She wanted to study the moon in exchange for giving me a spell that might be useful for giving Doma a body.”
“D, this is Lunara, Demon Lord of Severing, Severance? Demonic language doesn’t translate well.”
Lunara waved her hand, “Whatever works better, they almost mean the same thing.”
“She is also my wife, so keep your respect around her.” He then scratched his chin, “What am I saying? You’re going to talk with a Demon Lord, keep your respect anyway unless you want to end up getting cut into cubes.”
Arad then disappeared.
“Wait!” D cried, but Arad was already gone, leaving her alone on the moon, stuck with Lunara and her race of Demonic Moon Rabbits.
“What do we have here? Jasmine’s little toy?” Lunara looked at her with a smug smile, “Where did I hear the name D? The witch of the Dark Moon? Do you know that the goddess of the moon, Luna, wants you dead? This is her domain, and I’m her messenger now.”
