Chapter 1150 - 1150: Back to The World
[Give you a way back?]
Aria’s eyes moved, looking at him with cold indifference. She then remained silent for a while as if checking something.
After blinking once, she replied with a cold, somber voice.
[Your brain is evolving now… that explains it.]
“What?”
[You can use Vorvadoss’s magic. Get back with that.]
It was at that moment that Arad realized it. She was right. Aria said that his brain is evolving now. Is that why he forgot that fact? Probably. But this would mean that planning anything now is a bad idea. He isn’t in the best state of mind.
With that, Arad sat down and closed his eyes, waiting for the evolution to finish.
He could feel something warm moving inside his head and spine. His whole body tingled with warmth and magic. He could feel them like a torrent of power surging out of his bones and into his flesh.
The evolution took him three weeks.
The massive egg started growing smaller. No cracks appeared on its surface, but a loud heartbeat could be heard. It shook the whole mountain, the lifeless desert rumbled, and the sand slowly shifted.
A smile appeared on Gaia’s face. She stood in the cavern alone, looking at the egg. At a glance, she could tell that the creature coming out of that egg was powerful enough to harm, if not kill her. She would’ve already destroyed the egg if she didn’t know it was Arad’s.
The egg kept getting smaller and smaller with each pulse until it was no bigger than a pea. Then, nothing, just silence. The cave’s shadows grew deeper, the air got colder, and the stones seemed to shift.
Noticing Arad’s presence disappearing, Gaia walked into the middle of the cavern. She looked around and couldn’t find him. That was strange; he should be massive.
Gaia wasn’t a normal person, not even any powerful being. She is Mother Earth, the spirit of the whole planet. And now she can’t find him; something must’ve gone wrong.
Her eyes opened wide as she felt a cold shiver run down her spine. He was behind her, she could feel him breathing behind her head. But… there was no sound, she couldn’t hear him breathe.
One wrong move and her head is gone. She won’t die if this avatar gets destroyed, but it’ll hurt like hell.
“Come on, big boy. No need to be agitated.” Her cheerful voice cracked.
She gulped, slowly lifting her hands.
“Relax, I know you’ve just woken up.” The breathing behind her neck didn’t change. Her worry grew larger.
Words alone weren’t working. She can’t shake the threatening presence behind her back.
After a moment of silence, her muscles contracted, firing like a spring. In her palm, a long stone spear started forming with sparks of light as she spun around with a large grin. She’ll have to knock him out if he is out of control.
But at that moment, a large palm clenched at her still-forming spear like the jaws of a monster, shattering it.
Even if the spear wasn’t fully formed, she already put several mountains worth of stone in it. And all of that, it had just disappeared. It wasn’t just pure strength, but something worse.
A hand closed on her neck, and she could finally see his face, just an inch away from hers. A human face, large, square, with a chiseled jaw, a thin beard, sharp purple eyes, and lustrous ivory skin that glows with a faint shade of black.
Her eyes locked with his, and behind the purple glow of his pupil, she could see it. Like an endless well into the bowels of the earth, the light seemed to fade into his eyes.
It was just for a fraction of a second, but her consciousness got sucked into the endless abyss. It was the second time she felt something like this. This was an adult void dragon, a predator of planets and worlds.
Mother Earth, the one who all lives nests on her sturdy back. As lifeforms go, as existence goes, no matter how large the monsters get, no matter how arrogant and how evil or good they are… none of them measures to her grace, power, and might.
No matter how powerful you grow, your fists shall never crack the earth upon which you stand.
Arad’s second hand landed on her face, and the one grabbing her neck slowly moved up. Before she could snap out of the darkness of his eyes he was already lifting her by the cheeks, glaring deep into her glowing eyes.
There was no intelligence in his eyes, pure bestial instinct. And he was now checking to see if she is a threat or not.
Right now… for the second time, she felt it. Being the prey instead of the laughing spectator entertained by the bugs dancing on her back. One of those bugs had grown big enough to sting her.
It was then that Gaia’s foot swung up, her shin crashing into Arad’s groin at full power. At the same time, she grabbed his neck with her hands and jammed her forehead into his nose as hard as she could.
Arad was awake yet. His body is up, but his mind isn’t. This could end horribly if she isn’t careful.
The mountain cracked from the impact, sending tremors through the whole desert. But that was a mistake, attacking him was a mistake. It was already too late, just a fraction of a second later; His foot already pierced her torso and was now coming out of her back, sending shards of stone flying everywhere.
The mountain exploded; dust and debris reached the clouds as a massive shockwave sent sand everywhere in a raging storm. Gaia’s shattered body rolled away, hit the ground, bounced back, and rolled more like a doll.
She finally came to a halt near a large hill of sand. Gaia coughed, the wound on her torso already closed. But the pain remained.
This brought back her memories. But instead of the foot going through her torso, last time it was her back end.
“At least he didn’t do it on purpose, like his mother.”
“Gaia!” Altair appeared beside her. She just used a void step to reach, but immediately regretted. Her eyes opened wide and her legs gave. The Titan’s gaze shifted to her instead. A hint of recognition flickered in them.
