Chapter 408 - The Raging Blood Spider
Chapter 408 The Raging Blood Spider
Qin Haodong explained, “Sir, your son wasn’t sick. He has been poisoned!”
Fernand yelled, “That’s impossible. I’ve read the blood test report. There’s nothing abnormal about it, no clue of toxins at all. Now you’re telling us that he has been poisoned? That’s unreasonable!”
Qin Haodong looked at him disdainfully and said, “You’re so narrow-minded. The blood test can only detect the toxins that have been registered. There’s a world of unknown toxins that are yet to be found.”
Li Site said sternly, “Then what kind of toxin is it?”
Qin Haodong answered, “If I’m right, he must have been to the woods before he got sick.”
Li Site said, “That’s right. He likes hunting and has been to the primitive forest lately. What’s wrong with that?”
Qin Haodong replied, “There’s a creature named Raging Blood Spider. It’s rarely seen, but its toxin is quite unique. Its bite will cause insanity. The longer the bite is, the more serious the situation will be. The symptom won’t stop until the victims go completely insane.”
Li Site asked, “You mean my son has been bitten by this spider?”
Fernand cried out, “No way! I’ve been working for so many years. I’ve never heard about that spider before. You’re lying!”
Li Pingan interrupted him and said, “Dad, I remember I’ve been bitten by a small black spider in the forest. I didn’t care much about it because bug bites happened a lot during hunting.”
Qin Haodong said, “It would be easy to remove the toxin if we had found it earlier. It would only take two doses of medicine. However, through all these years, those quacks kept failing to find the cause. Now the toxin has already dissolved in your blood.
“I wasn’t beating him. I was using a unique method to force the toxin out of his body. You can check the blood he spat out if you didn’t believe me.”
He then waved his hand. All the guests looked at the direction he pointed, only to find that the blood had already turned black. It had solidified on the ground like dried jelly. The bricks on the floor looked as if it had been corroded by something, looking ragged and weird.
“It’s poisonous, indeed.”
Although Li Site knew little about medicine, he had basic common sense. Health blood wouldn’t fall on the ground and solidify so fast, and it wouldn’t corrode the floor, either. The only possible explanation was that the blood was highly toxic.
That was to say, Lin Pingan had been poisoned, and the doctor wasn’t just beating him. He was trying to force the toxin out of him.
He looked at Li Pingan and found him look better, without any clue of going insane.
Now he was pretty sure that Qin Haodong beat his son in order to cure him. So he said, “I’m sorry, Doctor Tang! It’s a misunderstanding.”
As soon as Li Site said that, Fernand and the others became nervous immediately because that equaled an approval of Qin Haoodng’s treatment on Li Pingan. They all wanted to cure Li Pingan so that they could ask Li Site to punish Qin Haodong.
Now the situation went opposite to their plan. They could do nothing about the unknown disease and had been beaten violently. Qin Haodong hit Li Pingan and forced the toxin out of him. Those people were so afraid that Qin Haodong would ask Li Site to kill them all.
Li Site was so influential in the Golden Triangle that he could kill these people like killing bugs.
In fact, they were worrying too much. Qin Haodong couldn’t care less about these people. And he wouldn’t even have taught them the lesson if they hadn’t demeaned Chinese medicine.
Seeing Qin Haodong heal his son, Li Site was more than happy. He looked at Gullit, whose face was swollen, and then he said to Han Baochang, “Now that Pingan has recovered, I’ll double the reward. Pay each of them 20,000 dollars and send them away!”
Han Baochang answered and had someone to show Fernand, Gullit, and the others out. Li Pingan went for a shower and got his clothes changed with the help of the servants, leaving Li Site and Qin Haodong in the room.
Li Site asked, “Doctor Tang, did my son fully recover?”
Qin Haodong shook his head slightly. “He missed the best time to receive treatment. Now the toxin is deeply rooted in his bones. I have forced most of the toxin out this time, but there is still some residue, and he will go insane again once a month.”
Li Site seemed tense. “Is it serious?”
“Not that much. I’ll write him a prescription and try to remove all the toxins out of his body. He’ll fully recover by then. Should he miss this opportunity again, then the disease would be much more serious than before.”
Actually, Qin Haodong could remove the toxins all at once, but he chose not to. Li Site was the ruler of this place, and Qin Haodong would like to leave that as a bargaining chip for future negotiation. There was no doubt that Li Pingan could be the best bargaining chip.
Zhou Tianhu had lived in Burma for so many years, and Qin Haodong still hadn’t figured out his relationship with Li Site, so he decided to be careful.
“Thank you, Doctor Tang.”
Li Site didn’t suspect what Qin Haodong had said. Li Pingan had been sick for too long and other doctors all failed to find the cause. He was totally fine with it if Qin Haodong could cure his son, no matter how long it would take.
He said, “Doctor Tang, I’ll pay you 10 million this time. If you heal him in the future, I’ll pay you an extra 20 million.”
Qin Haodong seized the opportunity and said, “Sir, I don’t need that money. I need your promise.”
Li Site looked at Qin Haodong in surprise. 30 million was a large sum of money. He wondered why the young man rejected it.
“Just tell me what it is. I can promise you anything here in Burma.”
Qin Haodong said, “Sir, Zhou Tianhu is my enemy. I hope you can kill him for me.”
Li Site’s facial expression changed. It had never occurred to him that the young man would make such a requirement. Zhou Tianhu was one of the three magnates in Burma. It wouldn’t be any easy to kill him.
He looked at Qin Haodong with sharp eyes, giving out overwhelming pressure. However, Qin Haodong seemed not to have felt the pressure. He remained calm and collected.
Li Site’s pupils narrowed because ordinary people would have peed their pants under that pressure, but the young man didn’t even react to it. He could tell that the young man was no ordinary.
His face eased down for a bit, and he said, “I can’t accept that. You can change it to another one, or I can just double the fee.”
He didn’t want to deal with Zhou Tianhu. Although he was the most powerful general in Burma, Zhou Tianhu was powerful enough to cause him a great loss if a confrontation happened.
Moreover, he had once made an agreement with the other three gangs here. The three gangs would give him 50% of their profits so that he wouldn’t harm them easily. If he killed Zhou Tianhu, the three gangs would panic. He would lose all the income.
In Burma, power mattered more than anything. If he lost income, how would he be able to run the army?
His son’s life was precious, but he wouldn’t destroy his resources of income unless he had run out of any other options.
Qin Haodong didn’t want him to kill Zhou Tianhu. He was just bluffing.
He said, “Sir, that’s non-negotiable. I have to kill him. But I can make a compromise. You don’t have to kill Zhou Tianhu. I’ll do it for you. I hope I can have your support the other day when I reform the Jade Gang.”
“Fair enough.” Li Site promised without hesitation.
It didn’t matter to him who was the boss of the gang. He only needed the money. Moreover, Zhou Tianhu was quite powerful. He didn’t believe that the young doctor standing before him could kill Zhou Tianhu, let alone reform the Jade Gang.
“Okay, then that’s the deal.”
Qin Haodong went back to the Tang’s Clinic after Li Site promised him.
Hu Xiaoxian asked him as soon as he entered the room, “How is everything going?”
Qin Haodong answered, “Great. I’ve healed his son, and he promised that we had his support to kill Zhou Tianhu and reform the Jade Gang.”
“Give you a reward.” Hu Xiaoxian hugged him and kissed him hard on the face. “That’s my man!”
“You are taking advantage of me!”
“You can do that to me if you want to.”
They talked and laughed for a while. Then Hu Xiaoxian put away her smile and turned serious. “Now that Li Site has agreed, we’ve succeeded in our first step. The next thing we need to do is to kill Zhou Tianhu.”
Qin Haodong said, “It will be easy to kill him, but it will be difficult to reform the Jade Gang. Who will be the next boss of the Jade Gang. Do you know any proper candidate?”
Hu Xiaoxian shook her head. “No, they said we have to figure this out on our own.”
Qin Haodong turned sullen. “How can we possibly figure that out? Can I stay and be the boss?”
Hu Xiaoxian jumped into his arms and laughed. “That’s a good idea. You’ll be the boss, and I can be your wife.”
“Thanks, but I’d like to be a doctor. Forget about that.” Qin Haodong said, “Just think about it. Any candidate? Or should I just ask someone from my security company to take the post.”
Hu Xiaoxian said, “Let’s hold on for a while. We’ve made enough progress already. I’ll make you a big dinner tonight. Let’s celebrate it.”
She enjoyed this moment when she was his woman and he belonged to her.
Qin Haodong was almost fearful upon hearing that Hu Xiaoxian was going to cook. He stopped her immediately. “Don’t cook the penis and testis of ox ever again, either it’s a soup or a stir-fry.”
Hu Xiaoxian made a hearty dinner and opened a bottle of red wine. She even lighted candles and made it a candlelight dinner.
Qin Haodong picked up a drumstick and had a huge bite. Then he praised, “This tastes nice. I love drumstick.”
Those stir-fried pork kidneys and animal penises Hu Xiaoxian had made almost drove Qin Haodong crazy.
Hu Xiaoxian held a cup of wine, sitting in Qin Haodong’s arms. They clinked their glasses and drank all of it. Then Hu Xiaoxian licked Qin Haodong’s ear with her pink tongue, saying coquettishly, “I’ve got good news for you.”
“What is it?”
“My period is over today. Is there anything you would like to do?”
