The Disfigured Beauty Becomes a Succubus to Repay Her Debt
Chapter 220 Beauty from Hell
Jiangchuan, White Cat Detective Agency.
“Found it. This is it.”
Peng ZhenNi took a notebook from the safe and turned to hand it to Jiang Chaosheng.
Jiang Chaosheng took it but didn’t open it. He just held it in his hand, his gaze fixed on some unknown point as if lost in thought.
“What’s wrong?” Jenny asked.
Jiang Chaosheng raised his eyes.
“Your grandfather is in danger.”
‘After all, Peng Guanhai revealed information about Hell to me. And Hell has already sent an assassin after Jenny to follow through on their warning.’
‘So, what about Peng Guanhai himself?’
‘I don’t know why Hell is wary of Peng Guanhai, but by revealing that information to me, has he completely infuriated them?’
‘Hell must be furious, lashing out in shame.’
Jenny’s admiration for Jiang Chaosheng had reached a point of near-blind worship.
Her face paled instantly. “Th-then what do we do? I’ll drive over right now.”
She spun around and ran downstairs, her steps so frantic she nearly missed a step.
Jiang Chaosheng followed her.
Jenny had already pulled open the driver’s side door and was fumbling for her keys.
Jiang Chaosheng grabbed her wrist and shook his head.
“There’s no time.”
Jenny’s hand froze in mid-air, her heart sinking. “Grandpa…”
“Driving is too slow.”
‘Driving… too slow?’
Before Jenny could react, she saw Jiang Chaosheng press a hand to his chest and whisper two words:
“Elder Dragon!”
The moment the words left his lips, the sky darkened.
Dark clouds surged in from all directions, as if gathered by an invisible hand.
A fine drizzle began to fall, cool against their faces.
Jenny looked up at the sky, her face a mask of astonishment.
‘It’s true that it rains often in Jiangchuan—but isn’t this too much of a coincidence?’
‘Starting on command, as if someone’s controlling it remotely?’
Jiang Chaosheng grabbed her arm and leaped into the air.
Jenny felt her feet leave the ground. Looking down, she saw the earth rapidly receding below.
She opened her mouth and let out a sharp scream, the sound torn to shreds by the wind.
From deep within the dark clouds, a jet-black throne slowly materialized.
Jiang Chaosheng sat upon it, his right hand resting on the armrest, as relaxed as if he were in his own living room.
The clouds carried the throne toward Jiangchuan Third Hospital, moving at an incredible speed, yet so smoothly that not a single jolt could be felt.
Jenny clutched her wildly beating heart and looked down. It was pitch black, and she couldn’t see anything clearly, but she knew she was moving, so fast it felt like flying.
She murmured, her voice choppy in the wind:
“Is… is this… a god?”
…
「Jiangchuan Third Hospital, private room.」
“Uncle Peng, time for your shot.”
The day-shift nurse, Nurse Sun, walked in pushing a small cart, a professional smile on her face.
Peng Guanhai lay on the hospital bed, his eyes narrowed to slits like an old cat sunning itself, watching her without a word.
Nurse Sun took a syringe from the cart, chattering as she expelled the air from it:
“Your granddaughter is so devoted, visiting you every single day.”
“You need to cooperate with the treatment. This private room isn’t cheap, you know. You should try not to worry her.”
After she finished speaking, she walked toward the bed with the syringe.
“Come on, stick out your arm.”
Peng Guanhai suddenly threw off the covers, revealing a Peach Wood Sword lying beneath them.
He snatched it up and thrust it at Nurse Sun’s chest, shouting:
“Amitabha Buddha! Jesus, help me!”
“Whoa!”
Startled, Nurse Sun stumbled back two steps, nearly dropping the syringe.
She steadied herself, a flicker of irritation appearing on her face.
“What are you doing, Uncle Peng!”
Peng Guanhai sneered, his white eyebrows knitting together.
“Trying to fool me? In your next life!”
Nurse Sun sighed, looking as if she didn’t know what to do with him.
“Can’t you just behave…”
“Evil spirits, be gone!”
Peng Guanhai let out a thunderous shout, and the Peach Wood Sword flew from his hand, striking Nurse Sun right on the forehead.
THWACK.
The hilt bounced off her forehead and fell to the floor.
Nurse Sun rubbed her forehead, glanced at the Peach Wood Sword by her feet, and looked up with an expression full of impatience.
“What on earth are you trying to do? I know you don’t like me. It’s been like this ever since you were admitted. I’ll leave as soon as I give you the shot, okay?”
Peng Guanhai’s eyes widened in disbelief.
“You… you took my ultimate finishing move and you’re still alive?”
Nurse Sun rolled her eyes and took another step forward.
“Stop messing around.”
Peng Guanhai suddenly remembered something. He fumbled in his pocket, pulled out a Silver Cross, and hurled it at her.
SMACK.
Another direct hit to the forehead.
“AHHH!!!”
This scream was completely different from before.
It wasn’t born of irritation or helplessness, but of sheer agony.
The corners of Peng Guanhai’s mouth slowly curled up into an “I knew it” smile.
“I knew it.”
Nurse Sun clutched her forehead, her fingers tightening until the knuckles turned white. She lowered her eyes, glancing at the Cross on the floor, her gaze as grim and cold as ice.
Wisps of black smoke were rising from the spot the Silver Cross had touched.
A cross-shaped, red brand was seared into her forehead. Its edges were charred, yet it was slowly healing at a visible rate.
She slowly raised her head, the corner of her mouth hooking into a smirk.
“How exactly did you figure me out?”
Peng Guanhai stared at her coldly, enunciating each word.
“You—are too beautiful.”
The hand Nurse Sun had on her forehead slowly lowered.
She tilted her head, a playful, almost mocking expression on her face.
“Beauty… is a crime now? And here I thought beautiful women were the most wonderful things in the world.”
“Heh,” Peng Guanhai scoffed. “Because I am the great detective, White Cat.”
His gaze sharpened, like an old beast finally baring its fangs.
“For some reason, you people can’t kill me directly.”
“But over the years, I’ve had a lot of ‘accidents’.”
“Car crashes, fires, explosions… I sensed them all and managed to avoid them.”
“I noticed that at the scene of every accident, there was always a beautiful woman watching me.”
“Including at the scene of my daughter’s death, and the scene of my two dogs’ deaths. Every time, a different beautiful woman was present.”
“I know all those beautiful women were the same person!”
He paused, his gaze growing even sharper.
“In this world, I suspect every beautiful woman who approaches me. Including my own granddaughter.”
He stared at Nurse Sun’s face, forcing the words out as if through gritted teeth.
“You’re so shameless, always choosing to possess beautiful women.”
“I can’t even imagine how ugly you must be back in Hell.”
Nurse Sun’s pretty face twisted in an instant.
“You’re calling me ugly?!”
She let out a piercing shriek, a sound so sharp it could almost shatter eardrums.
She snatched the syringe from the cart, sprang up like a coil, and pounced onto the bed, straddling Peng Guanhai with the syringe raised high.
“If it weren’t for that mirror you have, if it weren’t for your connection to that Manager, if it weren’t for… for my lord forbidding us from direct slaughter in the Human World!”
Her face was close to his, her features contorted with rage.
“I would’ve butchered you a hundred times by now!”
“All those ‘accidents’ were me holding back! They were just warnings!”
Peng Guanhai’s hands desperately held back her arm, veins bulging on his skin. His face was beet red from the effort, but he was still laughing.
“You scum!”
“I’ve already told the Manager everything I found out!”
“Scared now? Feeling the fear?!”
He gritted his teeth, using all his strength for every word.
“Feels good! So damn good it makes my scalp tingle!”
Nurse Sun’s gaze grew colder. The syringe in her hand pressed down bit by bit, its needle aimed straight for Peng Guanhai’s eye.
“Since you know he’s under my protection.”
An indifferent voice drifted from the doorway—not loud, not soft, but it fell over them like a bucket of ice water.
“You still dare to show your face?”
Nurse Sun froze and whipped her head around.
A person was standing in the doorway.
Her pupils contracted. “The Manager?”
She didn’t get to finish.
BANG—
A gunshot rang out.
A scarlet bullet shot through the air and struck Nurse Sun right between the eyes.
Her entire body went limp as if her bones had been removed. She slumped to the side, tumbled off the bed, and fell to the floor.
But she wasn’t dead.
Propping herself up, she staggered back to her feet, her body twisting unnaturally as her joints made a series of KRAK KRAK sounds.
She raised her head and stared coldly at Jiang Chaosheng, her gaze like two vipers.
“Manager, I advise you to stop investigating Hell.”
“You just be the Supreme God of your Human World, and we’ll stay out of each other’s way!”
Jiang Chaosheng held the Penalty Fire Flintlock Gun, its muzzle perfectly still.
He sized up the “thing” before him.
“What is your status in Hell, exactly?”
Jiang Chaosheng had used the Penalty Fire Flintlock Gun to strike the soul that did not belong to Nurse Sun.
To survive a shot from the Penalty Fire Flintlock Gun meant this thing was no minor figure in Hell.
Nurse Sun’s lips slowly stretched into a sinister grin.
Her voice became hollow and distant, as if echoing up from deep, deep underground.
“My lord, Satan, sends his regards.”
Jiang Chaosheng knew he wouldn’t get any more information.
He pulled the trigger.
BANG—
But before the shot rang out, Nurse Sun’s body had already crumpled to the floor.
No struggle, no scream. Like a lamp whose flame had been snuffed out.
A few seconds later, Nurse Sun let out a soft groan and sat up, clutching her head.
“What happened…”
Jiang Chaosheng raised an eyebrow.
“It ran away?”
Before the words had even faded—
The sound of dense footsteps echoed from the hallway.
Not one person’s, but many.
The footsteps were chaotic—some light, some heavy, some shuffling, some hurried—as if people were walking to different rhythms.
Then, Jenny let out a scream.
She clapped a hand over her mouth, her pupils dilated to their limit. The color drained from her face, and she stood frozen as if nailed to the spot.
She stared down both ends of the hallway, her eyes filled with despair.
Jiang Chaosheng turned to look.
Both ends of the corridor were packed with people.
No—
they were “things.”
Their heads twitched unnaturally, jerk by jerk, like broken metronomes.
Their pupils were shrunk to pinpricks, their eye sockets shot with blood. Some were missing legs, dragging themselves along the floor.
Men and women, old and young.
Not a single one of them was alive.
“Wh-what do we do?!” Jenny’s voice trembled, her teeth chattering.
Unhurried, Jiang Chaosheng crouched down, opened his backpack, and pulled out a rusty scythe.
The blade was covered in rust, looking like a piece of junk scavenged from a scrapyard.
He tossed the backpack aside and stood up.
With a single thought.
The rust flaked away, piece by piece, like ash scattered by the wind.
Countless Runes materialized on the blade. An eerie light flowed through the patterns, and in an instant, it transformed into a Giant Scythe, its edge gleaming with a cold, silver light.
Jiang Chaosheng stood in the middle of the hallway, the Scythe of Death slung over his left shoulder and the Penalty Fire Flintlock Gun in his right hand.
He watched the things swarming from both ends of the hall, a slow smirk spreading across his face.
Excitement.
He didn’t know why his heart was pounding so fast. Dopamine secretion? An adrenaline rush? Maybe it was both.
Perhaps for someone with an emotional disorder, combat was simply fun and exciting.
‘That’s probably why people with my kind of neurological disorder often become antisocial brutes,’ he mused.
