The Disfigured Beauty Becomes a Succubus to Repay Her Debt
Chapter 148: Dusk’s Identity
Chapter 148 -144: Dusk’s Identity
In the square, the Investigators from the Anomaly Administration Bureau and the Military Officers from the Public Security Bureau suddenly felt a wave of relief.
They raised their heads to look at the sky.
Lucifer wore a look of terror.
What had he seen?
‘Could it be… Mr. Dusk?’
In the earpiece in Li Mingyue’s ear, Cao Ye’s voice came through incessantly:
“Divine Tears Leader, Divine Tears Leader! Li Mingyue!
What’s the situation right now?! Are you all okay?!”
From the moment Lucifer used his Divine Power, all communication devices, including the video feed, had failed.
If not for the fact that team leaders like Li Mingyue of the Anomaly Investigation Team had earpieces enchanted with Magic by Old Cat from the Archives Department, Cao Ye would have completely lost contact with the scene.
Li Mingyue pressed a hand to her ear.
“The danger is averted for now. The danger is averted for now.
Don’t worry, Director. Plan B may not be necessary.”
Through the earpiece, Cao Ye’s composed voice asked:
“What exactly happened?”
Li Mingyue stared grimly at the sky.
“Another deity appeared and scared Lucifer off.”
Cao Ye’s voice turned to one of astonishment.
“A deity that scared off Lucifer?”
Li Mingyue said,
“Yes. That deity… is suspected to be Dusk!”
Cao Ye’s voice grew heavy.
“Dusk?”
…
Jiang Chaosheng glanced at the amnesiac Daji, then at Lucifer, who only had half a head left.
None of these deities and demons had their heads screwed on right.
‘No, Lucifer is different from the other deities and demons.’
‘This guy is literally missing half his brain!’
Jiang Chaosheng raised an eyebrow slightly.
“You… know me?”
Lucifer’s eyes widened, his eyeballs trembling frantically in their sockets. His mouth hung wide open, and a rasping sound came from his throat:
“Hh… hh… I… of course I remember you!”
Jiang Chaosheng thought for a moment and realized something.
‘The one Lucifer has seen must be the Human Emperor, who looks almost identical to me.’
Jiang Chaosheng was eager to get information about the Human Emperor out of Lucifer.
He had a feeling that he and the Human Emperor were connected in countless ways.
However, more important than getting information about the Human Emperor was stalling Lucifer and preventing him from unleashing his power right now.
Because Jiang Chaosheng wasn’t confident that he and Daji could eliminate Lucifer even if they worked together.
Once Zhong Shu reached Antique Shop Zero and contained the God-Desecrating Bell, perhaps Lucifer would simply dissipate, just like the Sea Coachman.
Even if Lucifer didn’t dissipate after the God-Desecrating Bell was contained, Jiang Chaosheng would still have an ace up his sleeve.
‘Having already contained two Taboo Items, I can comprehend the Scythe of Death. I can fight this crippled Angel!’
Mulling this over, Jiang Chaosheng took a step forward, just about to speak.
Lucifer shuddered, his wings beating fiercely.
BOOM!
A sonic boom echoed through the sky.
Lucifer rapidly put distance between them, retreating a thousand meters in an instant!
The Investigators were stunned, the Military Officers were dumbfounded, and Li Mingyue was utterly bewildered.
‘Lucifer, who just moments ago was boundlessly arrogant and overwhelmingly oppressive, was actually this terrified of Dusk?’
It wasn’t just them; even Jiang Chaosheng’s eyes were filled with shock.
‘Is the Human Emperor that terrifying?’
‘Just by having a face that resembles the Human Emperor’s, I can make a legendary deity—Lucifer—this frightened?’
‘Is the pressure really that intense?’
An imperceptible smile touched the corners of Jiang Chaosheng’s mouth.
‘That makes things easy, then.’
Jiang Chaosheng glanced indifferently at Lucifer.
“Tell me, who are you?”
Faced with Jiang Chaosheng’s question, Lucifer’s pupils spun wildly, his mind like boiling water. His throat bobbed as he answered:
“I… I am the head of the Seven Great Celestial Demon Kings.
I am the strongest Angel—Lucifer the Sin of Pride!
I am the leader of one-third of the Angels of Western Heaven!
I am the terminator of humans who disrespect the Deities!
Later, I was the one who defied God.
I was also a candidate for the King of Hell!”
…
In the square, the Investigators exchanged glances, each seeing the horror on the others’ faces.
Lucifer had rattled off a long list, but every single title was enough to spark the imagination and provoke deep thought.
‘The head of the Seven Great Celestial Demon Kings?’
‘Where are the other six Celestial Demon Kings?’
‘The leader of one-third of the Angels of Western Heaven?’
‘Where is Western Heaven? And where did the Angels go?’
‘He also seems to have killed many humans who disrespected the Deities.’
‘Those humans… from what era were they?’
‘Were they simply atheists, or warriors who dared to draw their blades against the Celestial Gods?’
‘Most importantly… do God and Hell… truly exist?’
The terms “God” and “Hell” run through nearly the entire Bible!
If God and Hell truly existed, the information contained within that truth would overturn most modern scientific theories and act as a rapid catalyst for change throughout society.
Because the developmental direction of much of our technology would have to be wrong; human science might have already hit a dead end!
Jiang Chaosheng watched Lucifer, remaining silent.
He was still stalling for time, using his face—so much like the Human Emperor’s—to keep Lucifer from acting rashly.
Lucifer stared intently at Jiang Chaosheng. Seeing his silence, sweat beaded on his forehead.
“Who else… who else am I?”
He thought neurotically.
Racking his brains.
He was like a kindergartener being questioned by the strictest teacher.
The Anomaly Investigators and Military Officers were all dumbfounded.
‘What in the world is wrong with this Lucifer?’
‘Just how scared is he of Dusk?!’
‘What did Dusk do to break him like this?’
Lucifer murmured:
“I am also… a pitiful being who seeks revenge on God.
God betrayed me. He promised to let me rule Hell.
He set me up, he plotted against me…”
As Lucifer spoke, the venom in his eyes began to concentrate.
His expression turned savage, and his killing intent gradually swelled like a monstrous, stormy sea.
The terrifying pressure descended once more.
Everyone in the square could feel the dreadful sense of oppression.
This sense of oppression was even more terrifying than his Divine Power.
It seemed Lucifer was about to lose his sanity and could go berserk at any moment.
In terms of sheer presence, Jiang Chaosheng seemed to be far outmatched by Lucifer.
Li Mingyue looked up, her expression grim.
“Damn it, Dusk’s questions are driving him crazy.
Dusk might… not be able to suppress Lucifer anymore.”
Jiang Chaosheng was not intimidated by Lucifer’s ferocious might.
He frowned slightly and took another step forward.
Daji also stepped forward quietly, holding the umbrella over Jiang Chaosheng.
Jiang Chaosheng fixed his gaze on Lucifer.
“Who am I?”
As Jiang Chaosheng spoke these words, ripples spread through his heart.
He desperately wanted to know about the Human Emperor.
Hearing this, Lucifer’s eyes filled with terror. He pointed a finger at Jiang Chaosheng.
“You… you… you are…”
…
「In the square.」
The Investigators stared at Jiang Chaosheng in disbelief.
At first, they didn’t understand why Mr. Dusk had asked Lucifer, “Who are you?”
But now that Mr. Dusk asked, “Who am I?” they understood his intention!
One Investigator said in horror:
“Dusk is reminding Lucifer that his status is worlds apart from Dusk’s own!
Could it be… that Dusk can suppress Lucifer with his status alone?!”
Li Mingyue stared at the sky, speechless for a long time.
‘Mr. Dusk… what kind of existence is he, really?’
‘This isn’t just a major case the Anomaly Investigation Bureau has been painstakingly investigating; it’s also a personal mystery tangled in my own heart.’
‘Li Mingyue had originally thought Dusk was a Demon, one who could turn her good friend into a Succubus.’
‘Evil, bizarre, and cunning!’
‘Later, during the Yin Yang Master incident, Dusk took action to subdue the Yin Yang Master and bring the legendary Su Daji under his sway.’
‘She had developed a new theory about Mr. Dusk.’
‘Perhaps he was a thousand-year-old ancient who walked the Human World, an antique dealer comparable to the Deities, just like the deified source of an urban legend.’
‘Now, was Dusk’s true identity finally about to be revealed to the world?’
