Chapter 109: Chapter 106: Lord of Dusk

The next day, on the second floor of Antique Shop Zero.

Jin Meiting woke up early. She grabbed a broom and a rag and cleaned the entire antique shop, inside and out.

As she wiped down the Taboo Items on the shelves in the back room, her mind began to wander.

"Have you made your decision?"

A hoarse voice spoke up from nearby.

Jin Meiting looked toward the bird’s nest.

The Evil Crow had a white stocking on its head and was yawning behind a wing.

Jin Meiting slowly nodded.

"Yes, I plan to leave today."

The Evil Crow said,

"Good. People don’t have time to overthink things when they’re busy."

Jin Meiting put down the rag and said to the Evil Crow earnestly,

"Thank you."

The Evil Crow paused.

"For what?"

Jin Meiting smiled.

"Thank you for the advice. I’m starting to think you’re not as sleazy as I first thought."

The Evil Crow said gloomily,

"I am a gentleman, merely burdened with a lecherous reputation.

I can’t bear to see a beautiful woman suffer."

Jin Meiting glanced upstairs.

"Would you also be unable to bear seeing *her* suffer?"

The Evil Crow shrank back.

"You can’t compare yourself to her. Her background is a big deal.

If she were to suffer, it would be a grievance of cosmic proportions. No one could do anything about it."

Jin Meiting’s eyes darkened for a moment, then blazed with fighting spirit.

"I’ll be her equal someday! What do you want for breakfast?"

The Evil Crow rolled its eyes at her.

"Forget it. I can already smell the dumplings. Pickled cabbage filling.

I don’t know why Jiang Chaosheng loves dumplings so much. Doesn’t he ever get tired of them?"

Jin Meiting smiled gracefully.

"I can go out and buy you something else."

The Evil Crow settled back into its nest.

"Don’t bother. I’ll eat whatever."

...

Jin Meiting went up to the second floor and stopped in front of a guest room.

This was Daji’s room.

Today, she planned to throw down the gauntlet to her rival in love.

She mustered her courage and knocked.

The door opened.

When Jin Meiting saw the woman before her, her jaw dropped slightly.

’So beautiful.’

Long, silver-white hair was casually draped over her chest.

A full bust, a slender waist, long legs, and skin so fair it was dazzling.

A wrist so slender it looked like it could snap gently wiped the corner of her eye.

It seemed like there was a teardrop there, stirring one’s pity.

’Did she have a nightmare last night?’

Even Jin Meiting felt a sudden urge to comfort this woman.

"Is there something you need?"

The moment Daji spoke, all traces of her lazy, languid air vanished.

In its place was a breathtaking, noble coldness.

Jin Meiting suddenly felt inadequate.

’Compared to her, I’m like a bride’s handmaiden.’

"Breakfast is ready."

Her voice lacked confidence.

Daji just said, "Oh."

This Fox Spirit saved her warmth and passion only for her husband.

Jin Meiting turned to leave, but then stopped short and said,

"I will be more useful than you."

She turned back, her gaze firm.

"I’m going to compete with you for his favor."

The door had already closed. She had no idea if the other woman had even heard her.

Her declaration of war had fallen on deaf ears.

Jin Meiting clenched her fists.

The master bedroom door opened, and Jiang Chaosheng came downstairs looking for food.

Jin Meiting scurried to the kitchen, grabbed a plate of dumplings, ran back downstairs, and placed it on the table.

Jiang Chaosheng wasn’t in a hurry to eat. He was reading today’s newspaper.

He had developed a habit of reading physical newspapers over the past few months.

Jin Meiting glanced at Jiang Chaosheng cautiously and said,

"Master, I’d like to leave for a while."

Jiang Chaosheng’s gaze remained on the newspaper.

"Oh."

His tone was calm, as if he didn’t much care whether she left or not.

Jin Meiting clutched the hem of her dress.

"It might be for a long time."

Jiang Chaosheng lowered the newspaper.

"Why? Have I not treated you well?"

There was a hint of confusion in Jiang Chaosheng’s eyes.

"You were just an ordinary university student.

I was the one who granted you your extraordinary status and power.

Why would you want to leave?"

Jin Meiting was stunned.

She looked carefully into Jiang Chaosheng’s eyes.

There was only confusion in them, not a hint of any other emotion.

The burning passion she had felt in the pit of her stomach was doused by a bucket of cold water, leaving her feeling chilled and awkward.

The Evil Crow, peeking from a corner, covered its eyes with a wing, unable to watch.

"This is so awkward."

Jin Meiting lowered her head.

"In your heart, am I just an ordinary woman who received a gift from you?"

Jiang Chaosheng frowned.

"No."

A flicker of hope ignited in Jin Meiting’s heart.

Jiang Chaosheng said,

"I’m also your creditor."

The Evil Crow flapped its wings and flew back to the rear hall, too embarrassed to keep watching.

There is nothing more tragic in this world than a woman who wants to become stronger to win a man’s favor, only to discover that the man never even saw her as a contender.

Jin Meiting’s throat worked for a moment, and then her eyes filled with even greater determination.

"Then let me repay your kindness properly.

Let me leave Antique Shop Zero, and let me contribute to you and the Taboo Association.

I already have a good plan, and I will give everything to see it through."

Jiang Chaosheng averted his gaze from Jin Meiting and picked up the newspaper again.

"Fine."

After all, from Jiang Chaosheng’s perspective, Jin Meiting currently had little value.

In terms of combat power or intellect, Yang Xiao could completely crush her.

Besides, he could now leave Antique Shop Zero himself, which made her role as his representative somewhat redundant.

If she was willing to increase her own value, then she could be considered a very diligent employee.

Jin Meiting breathed a sigh of relief.

She took two steps back, knelt before Jiang Chaosheng, and kowtowed.

"Master, when I have completed my plan, I will return to serve you."

Jin Meiting truly had an excellent figure.

Narrow shoulders, a thin waist, and full hips. The tight dress and kneeling posture created a visually striking waist-to-hip ratio.

Unfortunately, our Boss Jiang didn’t even spare her a single glance.

Jin Meiting stood up, gave Jiang Chaosheng one last look, and walked out of Antique Shop Zero.

...

「South Sea, Donggang Apartment.」

This was a high-end apartment complex facing the sea.

It was known as a gathering place for the beauties of the South Sea.

Many streamers from out of town would "check in" here when they came to the South Sea to boost their popularity.

It was as if just by coming here, they could pretend to be one of Donggang Apartment’s residents.

The place was practically a ’Socialite Holy Land’.

This was where Jin Meiting had decided to stay.

She was good friends with Xia Li in private.

With such a wealthy friend, she wasn’t short on cash and directly bought a large, single-floor apartment.

After tidying up her room, Jin Meiting, still wearing high heels, sat at the coffee table by the window.

Why wear high heels even at home?

As a Succubus competing for favor, she had to maintain her sexiest, most alluring posture, even when her master wasn’t around.

Jin Meiting tied her curly purple hair back, bit the end of a pen with her red lips, and stared at the notebook in her hand.

Having followed Jiang Chaosheng for so long, she had gradually picked up on some of his thought processes and habits.

A single name was written in the notebook.

Lord of Dusk!

Jin Meiting murmured to herself,

"A powerful deity who brought about the Dusk of the Deities, his divine name is the Lord of Dusk.

He delights in slaughtering unjust Deities and is willing to fight for justice for the common people at the dawn of a new age.

Countless gods and demons have suffered disastrous defeats at his hands. His collection of trophies is the best proof of this.

For the former owners of those trophies were all Deities.

He is willing to embrace all, whether you are a thief or a prostitute. As long as you are willing to believe in him and turn over a new leaf, he will forgive you and grant you a new life.

The Succubus forgiven by the Lord of Dusk is the best answer."
