The Devil's Sweetheart

The boy in the picture was Devin but the small baby. She recognized her. If Leena has not seen her photos when she was a year old baby, she would have assumed that he was holding some other girl. But Why is he holding my hand? Did we meet already?

"This photo....."

"You might not remember since you were a year old, dear. It's you in the photos along with Devin." Eve explained with a giggle remembering Leena and Devin's childhood where Leena never left Devin's hand. "You were such a cry baby when you were little. No one could pacify your cries except Devin. You used to cry all day if he doesn't come to see you."

"What? Me?" Leena shouted with her wide open mouth. What is this twist? I was a cry baby and Devin has to console me? So, he has taken a big responsibility when he was only three years old? She has not seen a single picture of them in her albums to remember. All the photos in the home were either she would be with Francy or her solo pictures. Rarely she has seen her photos with mom and Wilbur.

"But why haven't seen a single picture in the home," Leena was stunned.

"It's because of that possessive Francis. He would have hidden somewhere in a locker." Evelyn gritted teeth in rage. He was the only one who was allowed to get Leena's attention back then and when he saw that Devin was stealing Leena's time, he has stopped him from seeing her. Eventually, Devin has also become engrossed in studies and he forgot Leena.

"I forgot that my Francy is a little jealous." Leena giggled and flipped the album to see many pictures of her and Devin. There was a photo where he has put her on his lap. She must be around two-year-old. There was another photo of Devin kissing her cheek. It must be when she was around three years.

'OMG! We have a past together and we acted as if we were childhood sweethearts. I might not remember the memories since I was very small, but Devin must be around six when I was three years. Doesn't he remember?'

Leena always felt that they have met each other in the past but her theory always debunked. Leena has asked him if he knows her but he said he doesn't remember.

"Has Devin seen the pictures?" Leena asked.

"I doubt he has seen. He is always busy with shoots and he hardly has time to breathe back then." Even said, if he has seen Leena's pictures, he would have agreed to meet Leena already.

Leena nodded her head in agreement. She knew how hard it would be to manage studies along with a career from such a young age. Maybe if I show the photos, he would recall the memories.

Leena made a note to show him and went back to see the pictures. The more she flipped the album pages, Leena sensed some of the pictures were missing in it. "Where are the rest of the pictures?"

"Even I wonder where did they fly off." Even said. Those pictures were the best of Leena and Devin she has taken. Eve has planned to make a portrait of them but one fine day, when she opened, they were missing from the album. The funny part was, except for Leena and Devin's together photos, everything was kept intact. If Francis would have visited during that time, she would have thought it must be his work.

"But I am glad that you both are together now." Evelyn squeaked in happiness. Now, she can recreate the photos as many as she wants.

"It turns out that we knew each other from childhood." Leena smiled and asked. "Can I take a picture from this, Aunty?"

"Only one. I have already lost many of your pictures." Eve was not willing to give these pictures which she holds dear but since it's Leena, she reluctantly agreed.

"Thank you, Aunt Eve." Leena searched for the best one and took a picture where Devin kissing her cheek.

They talked for a while and when it was lunchtime, they both went together when Leena's stomach was rumbling making whale mating noises.

Just when they reached the hallway, Leena's eyes were covered by a pair of hands from behind. "You should have changed your fragrance, Harley."

"My bad, that I forget you are genius, Leena" Harley pouted and appeared in front of Leena.

"Where did you go when you knew that your sister-in-law will come?" Evelyn reprimanded her daughter. 

"Don't you remember you were the one who has sent me? You said that you don't like the girl Devin is bringing home." Harley put all the blame on her mother. She knew her mom wanted to give a tough time to Leena by sending her away. Harley wanted to protest but being a filial daughter, she couldn't say no to her mom's words. By the time she finished her work and came back home along with Adney, Devin has explained everything that happened here. She was happy that finally, everyone has accepted Leena in the home.

"I_I am going to the kitchen. I have lots of work." Evelyn dashed from the place before Harley blurts out the things she uttered in anger. If Leena listens she would think that she is the kind of evil mother-in-law who would like to torture for her pleasure.

"It's been a long time I have seen you, Leena. I miss you." Harley deliberately put on a hand on Leena and peeked at Devin. If her grandfather was not holding him, he would have come for her throat.

"Are you deliberately provoking him?" Leena whispered. "My babylicious is_"

Just then a person appeared and stood in front of Leena halting her thoughts. She knew who he is. He looked a little similar to her babylicious but none in the world can beat his charisma in her eyes. For Leena, he is divine.

"My brother would have talked about me by now that I am the most creative, handsome, and intelligent." He boasted himself. "I know he likes me a lot which I can't help it. Anyway, I must introduce myself since you are going to become my sister-in-law. My name is_"

"I know. Rusk right?" Leena completed it for him. Her thoughts flew back to the second time she has met Devin in a hotel and she called him 'brother of rusk' They had created many memories without knowing.

"What?"

"Oh! Your name is not rusk? But that's the only thing I got to know from your brother.." With no expression on her face, Leena uttered pulling his ego to the bottom pits.
