The Devil's Sweetheart

"Aren't you bothered by the rumor dad? Is he in a relationship with that woman as media proclaimed?" Fredrick looked at his father who was nurturing the plants. Since morning he has been trying to call Francis but he is not picking up. In years of their friendship, they never fought and everyone except him is relaxing in the home. Even Evelyn was happily munching over her favorite food. He wondered if the woman with Devin was the one she has been liking all along. He did not know her taste has gone green around the gills over time.

"Relax, Rick. I trust in my grandson. I am confident that he wouldn't even like that bummer." Arthur was surprised to see the woman hugging his grandson was the same woman who tried to slander his granddaughter-in-law in the hospital. "I should have crushed her on the hosp_"

Arthur halted his thoughts when his assistant Fernando scurried into the garden.

"Roberto Herrera wants to have a meeting with you, Sir," Fernando spoke up.

"Who is Roberto?" Arthur asked in a lazy tone.

"It's that woman's father," Fredrick turned to face Fernando. "What does he want?"

"He wants to arrange a marriage alliance for his daughter with Devin." Fernando gulped watching Fredrick's eyes turning cold and blazing murderous.

"It seems his brain is full of unwashed socks to demand a marriage alliance with us." Fredrick seethed in irritation. His son has not given any statement, yet he is building castles in Spain already. "Ask him to take notice of his inverted face in the mirror. He would be a classic example of the inverse ratio between the size of his mouth and the size of his brain."

"And his daughter must be a giraffe disguised in dark glasses trying to get into a polar bears club." Arthur butted in. Both father and son high-fived each other for having a fair share of chastising foolish father and dumb daughter. While Assistant Fernando was looking at them as if they have grown three heads. This family is one crazy bunch and Arthur Wang is one step ahead of them. When he first started his career it was hard at first to understand, later instead of understanding, he started following them.

Harley and Adney were sitting in the office for the whole night but neither they could find solid evidence nor Elysian responded. Devin received the track record of the call and the messages she made but she has nowhere mentioned the name to use it for his purpose. Devin has been getting calls and messages from Wilbur and Drew continuously. Had he lifted, his mood would turn worse?

"She is deadlier than a poisonous snake," Harley muttered. Never Devin has faced such kind of impasse in his entire life. As if every road has been blocked for him to prove that the photos are fake. The media is demanding a press meet. He would have announced his relationship with Leena but the world would see her as a third person who has tried to sabotage the relationship between Devin and Regina. That's the last thing Devin would intend to listen to. Regina would certainly throw the dirt on Leena if something like that happens. Harley wished to torture that bitch with Abra and Cadabra twins one day.

"We don't have a choice, Devin. Announce your relationship with her temporarily." Harley spoke up unwillingly. When everything stands in the way, he can tell that they have broken up due to disparities in their thoughts which is not new. It happens a lot in the entertainment industry.

"I would rather die than announce a relationship with anyone except Leena." Devin pressed. There might be many who belongs to that category to save their image but he would never. Even if his family pressures him, he is not going to surrender.

"I am leaving." He glanced at his watch as he spoke. A smile crept over his lips with the thought of seeing her again after a long day.

"To where?" Harley asked.

"To meet my sweetheart." He winked and left the office leaving Harley and Adney in confusion. It seems he is not even bothered by the scandal.

"Is he maintaining a harem now?" Adney gaped.

It was not only Devin in chaos, even Leena was in unrest. She was lying on the bed reading all the gossips cursing Regina all the time.

"I will crush her one day, Meemaw." She threw her tablet but then again picked it up and refreshed the page to see the new comments.

"It's the nth time you have been telling that. Let me watch my Oppa's drama peacefully." Margaret chided her granddaughter again. She has been watching a Korean Drama from the evening but couldn't even complete one episode. Whenever an interesting scene is about to occur, Leena would disturb her.

"It's because of your oppa's land my babylicious is in trouble." Leena grabbed the tablet her grandma was using and closed the video. Does she behave according to age? She has been shying all the time while watching those dramas.

"What have my oppa's done? It's your boyfriend who was not cautious." She grabbed the tablet and opened the video. She knew Devin would come up with a solution and that's the reason she is relaxing to watch the drama unfold.

Leena did not argue further. She has seen the way he sacks the situations but for once he has let his guards down and a big disaster happened. I will not leave that nail biter if I see her anywhere.

"Should I hack into her account and play a prank?" An idea popped into her brain and with a smile, she glanced at the watch. She made her way into Francis's bedroom where he was reading a book.

"Francy!" She called up innocently.

"What?" Without looking at Leena, he questioned.

"Can I go for a walk with Meemaw?" Leena blinked her eyes naively.

"Go to sleep." He said going back to reading the book. He knew she is playing tricks to meet that brute. Unless he comes transparent with his relationship, he is not giving in.

"Okay." She scurried away. Her plan A might have failed, but Leena has plan B in handy.

With the help of her Meemaw, Leena climbed down the balcony, and like a cat, she slowly got out of the house through the secret passage and ar a distance she saw someone waiting for her. She dashed towards him and hugged him tightly.

"Why did you come out without wearing a jacket." He released himself from the hug and removed his jacket to securely wrapped her not to let the air in. Despite its spring, the Heacis mansion is full of trees and it's a little chilly here.

"Because I knew that you warm me up." She smiled and reached his hand and gently stroked his eyes. She felt sad that he is undergoing a lot of stress. "Are you fine?"

"As long as you are with me, even death would be sweet." He whispered clamping her hand to him and pressed his lips on her knuckles.

"Don't talk about death, idiot." She pouted hitting his chest with her fists. "Did you get any clue about the CCTV footage?"

"The recordings are hacked and the call logs and messages are of no use. She most probably used offline methods for communication."

"Not bad." Leena thought. Still, she felt Regina is a dumb-witted woman.

"Don't worry. We can retrieve the deleted data easily." Leena explained the process to fetch the information through hacking.

"But it's overwritten sweetheart." Devin sighed. He contacted many of his friends and professional hackers and every person has informed him that the data can't be retrieved once overwritten and he knew it's of no use asking Leena also. But still, he hoped her crazy brain would make impossible possible.

"Overwritten?" She pondered for a while and suddenly something hit her brain "But overwritten data can be retrieved, Devin."

Like a shot, Devin looked at her intently.

"Are you serious?" Devin questioned in surprise. "Do you know how to do? But how can you procure the eliminated information?

She has never tried it in the past but researched for days contacting many physicists and tried experiments in her university with fellow physics major students to check if it works. Her professor debated that her idea would never work but she wanted to prove it otherwise. After she got the desired result, Leena has given the idea to someone in the past but after implementing it, he berated her in front of the media. Worst fellow. It's her idea and he used it for his purpose.

"There is a concept called Magnetic Hysteresis in quantum physics. We can fetch seventy to eighty percent of data through that process. But I need a physicist's help to perform it. It's not an easy task but we can succeed in it." Leena explained the process that she did in the past.

Devin was amazed as she explained her theory. He knew this brat would find a solution to the impossible.. Adney has been trying to contact Elysian from the morning with the uncertainty that he would lend a solution or not but Leena has explained the finding like a cakewalk.
