The Devil Who Claimed Me
Chapter 198: Mila helped in Camilla’s treatment.
"No..." Bianca shook her head in disbelief. "You are lying."
"I am the director of this hospital," Mila continued calmly. "Your mother is receiving treatment here at half the usual cost—all because of me. If you don’t believe me, go ask your father."
At that, Bianca fell completely silent. She had never known.
"This is a lie," she whispered. "You... the director? That can’t be true..."
Mila crossed her arms over her chest. "If you don’t believe me, that’s not my problem."
"You tried to kill my wife," Dominic said coldly. "You should face the consequences of your actions."
He gave the guards a subtle wave. "Take her away. Hand her over to the police."
"No." Bianca struggled desperately against the guards. "Mila, please. Don’t send me to the police. I’m your sister. Please spare me this time. I swear I’ll stay out of your way."
Hearing her cries, Leonard rushed over. The moment he saw Bianca pinned to the floor, panic flashed across his face.
"What happened?" he demanded, looking around before his gaze landed on Mila. "Why is she being restrained?"
Before Mila could answer, Dominic spoke. "She attacked my wife." He pointed toward the knife lying on the floor. "She tried to kill her."
"What?" Leonard stared at the knife in disbelief. Then fury overtook him.
He strode toward Bianca and slapped her across the face.
The sharp crack echoed through the hallway.
Bianca’s head snapped to the side. The inside of her cheek tore against her teeth, and a thin line of blood appeared at the corner of her mouth.
She remained frozen, one hand slowly rising to her burning cheek as tears filled her eyes.
"Haven’t you caused enough trouble?" Leonard thundered. "Why did you attack Mila?"
"Dad... I..."
"Shut up." His furious shout silenced her. "Apologize to her. Now."
Bianca slowly looked at Mila. There was still resentment in her eyes. She didn’t want to apologize.
Mila saw it immediately. Even if Bianca apologized now, it would only be because she was being forced.
Mila didn’t want a fake apology.
"Don’t bother," she said dismissively. "I don’t need it."
"Take her away," Dominic ordered.
The guards grabbed Bianca and began dragging her toward the exit.
"Wait." Leonard hurried after them. "Mila, please. Let her go. I apologize for everything she has done. Please forgive her this once."
"Why should she?" Dominic’s voice thundered through the hallway. "If we let her go, she could come back tomorrow and try to hurt Mila again. I won’t take that risk. She needs to face the consequences of what she did."
"Please..." Leonard suddenly dropped to his knees. His eyes were filled with desperation.
"You are kind, Mila. Without your help, we couldn’t have afforded Camilla’s treatment here. You gave us a concession. Please... show some mercy."
Bianca’s head snapped toward him. Shock and disbelief spread across her face.
"What are you talking about? Mila helped with Mom’s treatment? That can’t be true. She refused to give us money for her treatment. Have you forgotten?"
"Shut your mouth." Leonard sprang to his feet. "Without Mila, we wouldn’t even have been able to bring your mother here, let alone afford her treatment."
Leonard pointed toward Mila. "She is the director of this hospital. She arranged for the best doctors to treat your mother and reduced the cost by half."
Bianca’s eyes widened. "So she was telling the truth."
Tears of guilt welled up in her eyes.
"And you ungrateful girl..." Leonard’s voice broke with anger. "You attacked the very person who helped your mother?"
Bianca lowered her gaze. "I didn’t know," she whispered. "Why didn’t you tell me?"
"Because Mila didn’t want anyone to know." Leonard’s expression softened with regret. "She asked me to keep it a secret. But I never imagined you would go this far."
He looked at Bianca with disappointment. "I spoiled you too much when you were growing up. I never stopped you from doing anything. I kept excusing your behavior because you were my daughter."
His eyes reddened. "And look what that turned you into. You became arrogant, ungrateful, and violent. I should have stopped you years ago. I should have punished you for your mistakes instead of covering them up."
His voice grew heavy with guilt. "But I always blamed Mila. I neglected her. I never gave her the love she deserved. Yet when our family needed help the most, she still helped us. And you..."
His face tightened with disappointment. "You’ve done nothing but cause trouble for this family. Even now, after everything Mila has done for your mother, you attacked her."
He pointed toward Mila. "Apologize. Right now."
Bianca lowered her head. Guilt weighed heavily on her chest.
"I’m sorry, Mila. Please forgive me. I swear I’ll stay away from you. I’ll never trouble you again."
"She doesn’t need your apology," Dominic said coldly. He turned toward the guards. "Take her out of my sight."
"No," Bianca cried out desperately. "Mila, please. I know I made a mistake. Please let me go."
"Wait." Mila raised a hand. The guards immediately stopped. "Leave her."
Dominic turned sharply toward Mila. Disbelief crossed his face. "Why are you stopping them? She needs to be punished. If you let her go, she could come back tomorrow and try to hurt you again."
Mila turned toward him and smiled softly. "Relax." She placed a hand against his chest. "Don’t worry. I’ll be fine."
"Mila..."
"I have you," she interrupted him gently. "And I know you’ll always protect me."
"Of course." Dominic caught her hand and held it tightly. "I’ll always protect you. But I can’t trust them."
"No matter what they have done, they are still my family," Mila said quietly. "They’ve already paid for their mistakes. I don’t want to punish them anymore."
Dominic stared at her for a moment. He knew she had made her decision. He finally exhaled and nodded reluctantly.
"Fine. I’ll let her go." Then his gaze shifted toward Bianca. "But..."
The softness disappeared from his face. His eyes turned cold and murderous.
"If you come near her again, I’ll shoot you myself."
Bianca flinched. Fear replaced the resentment in her eyes. She immediately lowered her head.
Dominic then walked toward Leonard and slipped a black card into his hand.
"There are five million on this card," he said quietly, making sure only Leonard could hear him. "Take it and leave this country."
Leonard stared at the card in shock.
"I’ll arrange your wife’s treatment wherever you go. You’ll have enough money to take care of her properly."
Dominic’s voice dropped into a warning. "Just don’t come back. If you do, I won’t give you time to regret it."
Leonard’s hand trembled around the card. He looked at Dominic, then at Mila. His eyes filled with gratitude and shame.
"Thank you..." He forced a faint smile. "Thank you for sparing my daughter. I give you my word. No one from my family will ever trouble you or Mila again."
He turned toward Bianca, grabbed her arm, and pulled her to her feet. Without another word, he dragged her away.
