The Devil Does Not Need to Be Defeated
Chapter 841: I Treat You Like a Best Friend, But You Want to Steal My Man?
“You jerk!”
When this surprised voice reached Shien, Capeline, and Tilly, all three of them froze for different reasons.
They simultaneously turned their heads towards the source of the sound.
Up ahead, in the corridor of the royal palace garden, three figures had appeared at some point.
It was a trio all wearing black robes but with their hoods down.
The trio consisted of two women and one man, all beastmen.
Standing on the left was a tall, muscular-looking werewolf.
Standing on the right was a rather intellectual-looking catgirl.
These two stood together like guards, firmly protecting the foxgirl in the center.
She was a beautiful foxgirl with fair, delicate skin and a fox tail.
All three of them carried a sense of sacredness not found in ordinary beastmen.
“Beastmen Priests?”
Tilly recognized their origins.
“Oz? Maeve?”
Shien even recognized the werewolf and the catgirl.
“Elise!”
Capeline called out the name of the foxgirl saintess in surprise and delight.
The newcomers were the beastmen priests who had shared a camaraderie with Shien in Cosmos, experiencing the Cosmos incident together, and they were the three highest-ranking among them.
“Princess Capeline!”
Elise also noticed Capeline, calling out joyfully.
Her call reminded Shien that these two had a connection.
At least, back in Cosmos, Elise had personally said that Imperial Princess Capeline was her close friend. After the Cosmos incident ended and Capeline disappeared, Elise had even led the beastmen priests to search for her, attempting to bring her back.
Unfortunately, at that time, Capeline had fallen into Mara’s hands. Enveloped by the deathly aura of Mara, who could use necromancy, Capeline’s life force and other such auras were completely masked, preventing Elise, a devout follower of the Goddess of Life who could sense life auras with the goddess’s power, from finding her.
It wasn’t until today that the two were reunited.
“You came too, Elise?”
Capeline finally released Shien’s arm and involuntarily stepped forward.
“Of course! We’re beastmen priests, representing the faith of the entire beastman race. Just like the human temples, we naturally have to attend this Tripartite Conference!”
Elise also rushed forward, embracing Capeline.
The scene of two beautiful young women embracing each other intimately was quite pleasing to the eye.
“Waaah, I’ve been so worried about you, Princess Capeline.”
Elise nuzzled Capeline’s chest, as if she had been terrified and was still shaken.
“I’m alright now, see?”
Capeline patted Elise’s head, her face full of tenderness.
If not for their different races, the scene would really look like two sisters intimately confiding in each other.
Oz and Maeve also approached.
“So you all came too?”
Shien looked at these two acquaintances, sighing with a mixture of sentiment and a touch of sorrowful reflection.
“You came back too, didn’t you?” Oz crossed his arms, snorting softly. “We’ve heard all about it. You caused quite a stir as soon as you returned, even defeating Nobu of our beastman race.”
“Yeah.” Maeve also sighed. “We never would have thought that you, the one who recklessly released the Evil God from its seal, would now become someone the three races and three realms have to pay attention to, even holding a Tripartite Conference after a thousand years, centered around the problems you caused.”
Recently, what Oz and Maeve had heard most were rumors about Shien, rumors about the Hero.
Therefore, they couldn’t help but sigh repeatedly, amazed that the Hero, currently in the spotlight and treated with such caution by the three races, was actually the somewhat reckless Shien Buztout.
The man who had shown considerable kindness and favor to their beastmen Priest Corps, after only a few months of separation, had become the most talked-about existence in all of Omnipotence.
Although they had long known about Shien’s situation, knowing that someone as extraordinary as him would eventually soar to prominence and become a renowned figure, they never expected that day to come so soon.
Especially…
“I heard you’ve reached Limit Level and even touched upon that legendary realm?”
Oz looked at Shien with burning eyes, appearing eager to try something.
“What?” Shien rolled his eyes at him and said irritably, “Do you also want to spar with me?”
“Forget it, Oz.” Maeve patted Oz’s thick arm, advising, “Even Chief Nobu wasn’t his opponent. If you really fight him, you’ll only be humiliating yourself.”
“What do you mean, humiliating myself?” Oz immediately retorted. “I’m Oz, the werewolf priest, the strongest beastman. I’ll defeat someone like Nobu sooner or later.”
“But you haven’t defeated him yet, have you?” Maeve ruthlessly exposed him. “The gap between you and Chief Nobu is still quite significant, let alone compared to the Hero, who has already touched upon that realm. Just give up.”
“You…” Oz was choked speechless.
Because Maeve was telling the truth.
As the only Legendary Level expert among the beastmen Priest Corps, and the strongest among them, Oz was level ninety-one, already a force to be reckoned with.
But Nobu was level ninety-seven, a true top-tier Legendary Level expert, leading the second-largest tribe among the beastmen, ranking among the top three in the entire beastman race.
Compared to him, Oz was indeed still a bit inexperienced.
Since he couldn’t even defeat Nobu, he certainly couldn’t defeat Shien.
“After all, back in Cosmos, even when we joined forces, we couldn’t defeat Mr. Shien. At that time, Mr. Shien didn’t even use the Holy Sword, let alone now. He himself has touched upon that realm, and with the power of the Holy Sword, below Transcendent Level, there’s probably no one who can be his opponent.”
Maeve calmly analyzed. ℴ
“That’s why I told you not to humiliate yourself.”
This was a realistic and annoying analysis.
“Tch!”
Oz scratched his head in frustration, then turned his head away, speechless but unwilling to admit defeat.
“You…”
Maeve could only shake her head helplessly, but her gaze towards Oz was meaningful.
Honestly, that scene gave Shien only one feeling.
Awkward.
“Did you guys come here specifically to greet me, or to show off your love and feed me dog food?”
A long-lost single dog’s killing intent surged in Shien’s heart.
Although he couldn’t be considered a single dog now, being so unexpectedly force-fed dog food was truly sickening.
“Show… show off our love…!?”
Maeve exclaimed, her pretty face flushing red, clearly caught off guard and embarrassed by Shien’s words.
As for Oz, he directly bristled.
“Don’t talk nonsense!”
Oz yelled, then nervously looked in a certain direction.
There, Elise and Capeline seemed to have finished catching up, holding hands like good friends, and approaching together.
“What are you talking about?”
Elise seemed to be in a good mood.
“N-nothing! Lady Elise!”
Oz immediately denied it nervously, as if worried that Elise would misunderstand something.
“Sigh…”
The blush on Maeve’s face instantly turned into dejection, causing her to sigh softly.
The three of them, one happily oblivious, one extremely nervous, and one dejected, looked at each other.
Oz only looked at Elise.
Maeve only looked at Oz.
Elise blinked her eyes, looking clueless.
The subtle relationship between the three made Shien, Capeline, and Tilly exchange glances.
“It seems the three of you are still the same as always.”
Capeline said with amusement.
“Have they always been like this?”
Shien turned to Capeline, asking in astonishment.
“Yeah, they’ve always been like this.” Capeline readily revealed, “Oz has always admired Elise, Maeve has feelings for Oz, and Elise is completely oblivious, acting all innocent. Their complicated relationship is a popular topic among the beastmen.”
“That… that’s so dramatic!” Tilly, upon hearing this, felt invigorated, no longer sleepy.
On the other hand, the three from the beastmen Priest Corps all bristled.
“Princess Capeline!”
Maeve cried out in panic.
“I… I don’t have such impure thoughts!”
Oz also panicked.
“W-what?”
Elise widened her eyes, looking stunned.
It was as if she had been shocked for several years.
The most intriguing thing was that after she reacted, Elise also panicked.
“Don’t talk nonsense, Princess!”
Elise hurriedly covered Capeline’s mouth, then, as if possessed, looked at Shien.
That look, just like Oz’s earlier, as if extremely worried about being misunderstood by her crush, changed the atmosphere once again.
“…”
The corner of Oz’s mouth twitched, his neck stiffening as he turned to look at Shien, his gaze turning hostile and bloodshot.
“Lady Elise…”
Maeve’s expression was complicated.
“Huh? Huh?”
Tilly, watching this scene, felt like she had discovered some shocking secret, looking astonished.
“This…”
Even Shien’s eyelid twitched. He even subconsciously looked up at the sky, as if checking if it was snowing and if the surroundings were white.
“Elise, you…”
Capeline also seemed to have discovered something, looking at Elise with an incredulous expression.
“Waaah, don’t look at me like that…”
Elise lowered her head, seemingly blushing, but her gaze frequently glanced towards Shien, acting like a lovestruck maiden.
Oz felt his fists clench.
Maeve felt numb.
Tilly’s eyes shone brightly, as if she were at some major gossip scene.
As for Capeline, after a moment of silence, she silently released Elise’s hand.
I treat you like a best friend, but you want to steal my man?

The air suddenly became very quiet, as if brewing something terrifying, making people tremble with fear.
“Um…”
Shien felt he had to step forward and say something to prove his innocence.
However, Capeline didn’t give him the chance.
“It seems we need to have a good talk, Elise.”
Capeline looked at Elise meaningfully.
“C-could you please not look at me like that, Princess? It’s scary!”
Elise looked at Capeline timidly.
“Unfortunately, I’m no longer a princess. Just call me Capeline from now on.” Capeline continued meaningfully, “Come on, it’s been a long time since we’ve had a good heart-to-heart. Let’s get together.”
“Huh?” Elise said weakly, “B-but I still want to go play at this jerk’s house…”
“Hmm?” Capeline stared intently.
“…” Elise immediately crumbled.
“Let’s go, Saintess.” Capeline, smiling sweetly, pulled Elise away.
Poor Elise, our little cutie, still didn’t know what was happening, like a little calf about to be sold, being dragged away with tears in her eyes.
“L-Lady Capeline!”
Tilly quickly chased after them.
Oz then took the opportunity to pester Shien.
“…I suddenly want to spar with you. Let’s go, make a move.”
Oz approached Shien, his eyes bloodshot.
But as the saying goes, there’s always someone stronger. Oz’s throat was also seized by his own fate.
“Alright, don’t cause trouble, Oz.” Maeve grabbed the back of Oz’s neck, her mood brightening as if the clouds had parted. “Looking at the current situation, it’s very likely that the Saintess and the Hero will…hit it off. As Lady Elise’s guards, we should be watching over them at a time like this.”
“Watch over my ass!” Oz went crazy, yelling repeatedly, “No! I won’t allow it!”
Oz, in this state, was quickly subdued by Maeve.
“Whether you allow it or not, you have to.” Maeve said firmly, “Although Lady Elise is our Saintess, with a noble status, the Hero is undoubtedly a good match. I believe Goddess Anima would also bless this union.”
“I don’t acknowledge it! I don’t acknowledge it!” Oz struggled.
For some reason, Maeve exerted enough strength to firmly restrain Oz, pulling him by the back of his neck while giving Shien a friendly smile.
“Then, I’ll take this insensible werewolf away for some re-education. Mr. Shien, you go for it. I’ll be supporting you.”
After saying this, Maeve dragged Oz away, ignoring his struggles.
At the scene, only Shien remained, disoriented and confused.
“…”
Shien pondered for a long time, still unable to unravel the mystery of how things had suddenly turned out this way.
“Perhaps, this is love.”
Shien could only offer this nonsensical sentiment, then turned and left.
Although he didn’t know what had happened, he had a feeling that his chastity had been preserved.
From Capeline’s clutches.
(Lucy: As expected, fate is on my side!)
