The Devil CEO's Contract Wife

Chapter 247: How Long Have You been Obsessed With Me?

Chapter 247: How Long Have You been Obsessed With Me?

Guilt filled me like stones going down my throat. I had tried to move on from him, yet not once did he think of it.

“Heirs are important to the Kings’, especially the firstborn child of the Don.”

A feeling settled low in my stomach. “Esme is your heir.”

“Yes.”

“Seems like the old bitch doesn’t like me even though I haven’t met her.”

Ares smiled at my words, but I think mostly at my insult.

“After all, she’s going through such lengths to get rid of me.”

His expression changed faster than anything, his eyes turning so cold that it reminded me of the night he shot Reed. It made me realize something: those soft sides I saw, where his eyes cracked the icy interior and showed me emotions, I think they were only meant for me to see.

“She won’t get that chance, again.”

“Ares?” I said softly.

“My Grandmother… She has a superstition.”

“What?”

“Elias…”

I shivered. He didn’t call him father… that hit harder than anything. That spilled a message I knew quite clearly… the things Ares had done…for me. It was inhuman, and I wasn’t sure anyone in their right mind would have gone through such lengths.

It just proved what kind of man Ares was… he was a Don, a man who stood at the top of the crime world, a made man who doesn’t blink twice before any actions, especially to those he cares about.

With Athena, when no one believed her husband was abusive. He was the only one who stood by her and burned everything to the ground.

With me… how he rescued me from Noah, infiltrating a casino armed to the teeth with all the odds against him, pulled the trigger for me just as he promised years ago.

The devil may think he doesn’t have a heart, but he does… in more ways than he could ever imagine.

“Elias was obsessed with my mother,” he said.

“Nina.”

“According to my Grandmother… he wasn’t always him. He was different. She claimed my mother tried to run away from him because she was scared of how twisted his obsession was with her. His love terrified her.”

I mulled over whether we were still talking about his parents. The look in Ares’ eyes gave me the answer I needed.

“After she gave birth to Athena and me, there were complications. She died. From that moment, Elias was never the same. He changed. I never knew him when he was different; all I knew and understood was his hatred, it was always present in his eyes, but we were his blood, he still had his responsibility.”

Responsibility…? Dare I understand such a thing? How can a father treat his children like they were his nemesis?

I wanted to tell Ares to stop, but this felt like a window was open.

“Athena was neglected, as was I. He wanted me to be made in his image, and that was all he ever cared about. We didn’t get a father’s love, just the cold weight of his shoulders.”

I moved, saddling him and cupping his face.

“You’re not him.”

“I’m obsessed with you,” he murmured.

“Esme… you care and love her. You may not see it, but I do. Elias…” I clenched my teeth as just the thought of him made my chest bleed, but I shoved the feeling aside. “He never loved you or Athena. You love Esme.”

“And you love me…” His eyes softened in an almost unbelievable way.

My heart picked up a fast beat, and when I tried to move away, his hands sank into my hips to keep me still.

He leaned close, and I closed my eyes when I felt his breath on my neck, his cold lips brushing against my wet skin, moving down to my breast where I felt his tongue swiping around my nipple.

I rasped, pinning my nails into his broad shoulders, and I used that medium to push myself to the other end, my feet on his chest.

Ares slowly messaged them, not taking his eyes off me as he raised one and kissed.

“How long have you been obsessed with me?”

“I stopped counting.”

Ten years. I did the numbers.

I shivered when he ran his tongue beneath my feet. This devil was leaving no stone unturned, almost as if he was determined to ruin me.

“Ever since I met you on that bench… time is inconsequential.”

“B-bench?”

“You yelled at me to stop smoking.”

I narrowed my eyes, trying to search my brain for anything like that, but I couldn’t. I think I would recognize those eyes anywhere.

I flinched when he kissed my feet again. Okay, I had no idea Ares King had a feet fetish. He’s taking a bite out of it like a fucking candy.

“I have had my eyes on you ever since. I was more amused when you went to the cops to file a complaint.”

My breath turned heavy, and the pulse happening between my legs was too much to ignore, reacting to his words.

“Your apartment in that neighborhood was shitty.”

Oh god, he went inside my apartment, too?

Then I wasn’t making things out when I saw my rug shifted at a particular spot, and the lingering smell of cologne that was so thick, I thought the scent was coming from the other room! Because my next-door neighbor had a wide collection and always choked the lobby with it whenever she passed by.

“You always had the habit of walking back home late. I should punish you for that carelessness.”

H-He must have made my neighborhood safe because it had always been unsafe, but the apartment was cheap and only what I could afford after getting out of college. The sudden drop in crime in that area was drastic.

I wasn’t crazy then, when I thought it was too much of a coincidence, I didn’t wanna dwell on it after the cops didn’t run through my complaint.

It was all because of Ares.

“You devil…! You have been haunting me—OW!”

He bit my feet!
