The Devil CEO's Contract Wife

Chapter 147: Be Afraid

Chapter 147: Be Afraid

ARES

Catherine shivered as I traced my finger on the small bruise on her back, faint and barely visible.

“Does it hurt?”

“Bearable…” she said, turning to face me. “Athena and I kicked ass.”

I want to show how proud I am, but my anger wasn’t letting me. All I could do was remain stiff and watch her try to crack me.

“He told me someone wants me dead. My guess is the same person who caused the car accident months ago. Do you have any idea who would go far for something like this…?”

I peeled my eyes away from her, reaching for the shampoo to wash her hair.

“Ares… Don’t you think it’s time you stop leaving me in the dark?”

I sank my fingers into her hair to massage her scalp, whilst trying to calm myself in some way. This helps.

Nico explained on the phone. Catherine and Athena gave him a good beating, but unfortunately, he slit his throat. Covering up his employer more important than his life.

“Are you mafia?” Catherine began with her questions, which she had been on about the entire day, and chose to avoid me.

I don’t blame her.

I don’t have any concern about that reporter; no matter what she digs, it will come up in ashes, they always do.

“Yes.”

I observed how she shook, breathing heavily as if coming to the desired answer she needed. I gauged her reaction, but I couldn’t tell what she was thinking.

“Are you a bad person…?”

I smiled, probably the easiest reaction I could conjure right now. “Yes.”

She gulped, and I could tell there were several questions she wanted to throw at me.

“Have you killed—”

“Enough…” I interrupted as my hand moved to cover her neck. “Or you might get answers you don’t like…” I eyed her closely. “Will you be afraid? I want you to be… your juices taste sweeter when you are.”

Her breath shuddered.

“I can smell it right now,” I murmured. “The sweet scent of your fear.”

Catherine rasped thickly, and I could tell she wanted to form words of reply but couldn’t as the pressure seized her. I didn’t look at her with lust, but as a prey I wanted to devour whole.

“I’m not afraid of you…” she said with courage, eyes burning into mine.

I smiled broadly, my grip tightened against her neck, and her body tensed, heart thrashing heavily in her chest. I didn’t loosen my grip, and panic continued to build.

“You are…” I released her as I stepped out of the shower, grabbing the towel to wrap around my waist.

When I got to the room, I took my phone and dialed a number.

“My patience is wearing thin.”

“We identified him, boss. Clearly, the same person who caused the accident months ago. They called him Morrow. I’m currently trying to find out his employer.”

Agatha.

That one word rang in my head, but as usual, these games of hers never led back to her. She was that good at covering her tracks, but I knew she was in the middle of all this.

“Boss?”

“I’ll handle it from here. Stay alert. Ensure my sister is guarded tightly. Put some men on Victoria too.”

Hearing footsteps behind me, I turned and found Catherine naked, chin up as she held my gaze fearlessly.

I ended the call and tossed my phone to the nearby couch.

Seeing her all cleaned up, I was at ease when I saw no cuts on her face, the only bruise was on her back, and the urge to raise the dead just so I could get the chance to quell the fire in my blood was overwhelming.

“I need a reward…” she said, coming closer until her body almost touched mine. “I kicked ass.”

“You did,” I said, amused.

“And I’m alive…” Her mouth hung, momentarily. “I want to forget. Make me forget.”

“A strange thing to ask from me…” I said, brushing her wet hair over her shoulder. “Knowing who I’m now.”

“Doesn’t matter.”

I tilted my head. “You have morals, Catherine Lane, and I don’t. Your sense of justice is different from mine. Do you know what that means?”

She gulped, and I knew she understood me perfectly. I expected her to retreat, but she didn’t, standing right where I wanted her, and even though she could walk away, I wasn’t gonna give her the chance to do that.

“Careful…” I murmured, using my thumb against her lips as I pulled down on the flesh. “I might drag you deeper than you ever were.”

Catherine closed her eyes when I leaned toward her, but I didn’t kiss her like she wanted. I lingered there, memorizing this sight of her like it was a new thing for me.

It was.

This was different, she had an idea of who I really was… yet she can’t control the desire she has for me, it had taken over her mind until morals were out the window.

It delighted me to see her so passionately ruined.

“Time for bed.”

Disappointment flashed in her gaze, but behind it was also fatigue. Swallowing back what she wanted to say, she walked to the bed, and collapsed against it.

However, Catherine had something else in mind. She hoisted her hips, giving me a good view of her ass before facing me, back against the headboard, and her legs spread widely.

“Don’t mind me, honey… I need this to relax.” Her hand slipped between her legs, a finger touching her clit.

From the sleek noise I could tell she was already wet, and the more she circled as if enticing me, the more I could see the glistening juices slipping down my sheets.

She’s drenched.

I forced my gaze back to her face, and she got bolder and bolder until she was giving me a show, panting low and her hazel eyes dazed in pleasure, as if having my focus stimulated her more.
