"Can I see the research data?"

Anthony nodded and took out the blueprints from his bag.

Of course, they weren’t complete.

Anthony had deliberately kept the remaining information with him. He planned to reveal everything only after securing the position at Yang Industries.

Lanze took the documents and began reading.

At first, his expression remained casual, but the longer he read, the more serious his face became.

With his experience in the field, he could immediately recognize the value of the information. It was genuine.

More importantly, it was considerably more comprehensive than he had expected.

Lanze’s heart began beating faster.

This kid actually solved the problem they had been worried about all this time.

He looked up.

"Are you the one who wrote this research?"

Anthony nodded.

Lanze studied him carefully before asking, "Which university did you graduate from? Who was your mentor?"

Anthony fell silent. He hadn’t expected the question.

After a moment, he finally replied, "I studied on my own."

Lanze clearly didn’t believe him, but from his reaction, he guessed, this guy didn’t have much of a background. So, instead of pressing further, a greedy glint flashed through his eyes.

Whatever, even if Anthony’s background was good, it didn’t matter anymore.

The research was real and he wanted it.

As for this young man who could produce something like this, there was a good chance he possessed even more valuable knowledge. But, what a pity. He met him. So his ending was already certain.

"Fine. You can get the job under my recommendation."

"Really?"

Anthony’s eyes immediately brightened.

"Of course." Lanze smiled. "Let me see the rest of the research first, and then we can discuss the contract."

Anthony didn’t notice anything wrong with his expression and immediately took out the remaining blueprints.

Lanze looked through them carefully.

Once he finished, he slowly placed the documents on the table.

"Is this everything?"

"Yes."

Anthony nodded.

"Good."

A strange smile appeared on Lanze’s face.

"Then you’re of no use anymore."

Anthony froze.

"W-what did you just say?"

"You heard me."

Lanze clapped his hands once before standing.

The five men who had been pretending to be ordinary customers immediately rose from their seats and surrounded Anthony.

At some point, the restaurant owner had also locked the main entrance.

Anthony’s expression changed.

Only now did he realize that something was terribly wrong.

"What is the meaning of this, Mr. Lanze? Why are you doing this?"

Lanze looked at him with amusement.

"Why? Because you tried to steal important research data belonging to Yang Industries, of course."

"You’re lying!"

Anthony’s face reddened with anger.

"You’re the one stealing from me!"

Lanze chuckled.

"Where’s your evidence?"

He spread his hands, looking amused by Anthony’s accusation.

"All these people here witnessed you attempting to steal confidential research from our company. Who do you think people will believe?"

The five thugs immediately played along.

"That’s right. Mr. Lanze is telling the truth."

"This thief really has some nerve."

"Let’s teach him a lesson."

Anthony’s fists clenched.

"You’re all working together!"

Lanze continued staring at him with a mocking smile.

"Then prove it."

He stepped closer.

"You keep claiming that I’m stealing from you, so where’s your proof? You came here, handed over the research, and now you’re making accusations. Unfortunately for you, everyone here can testify that you were attempting to steal it."

Anthony’s breathing became heavier. He finally understood. This entire meeting had been a trap. From the beginning, Lanze had never intended to hire him. He had deliberately lured him here, obtained the research, and prepared witnesses who could help fabricate a story against him.

’These bastards planned everything from the start!’

Anthony looked around the restaurant. ’There was no one else here. No police. No help.’

His eyes hardened.

’No. I have to get out.’

He suddenly moved toward the entrance.

"Hey! This guy’s trying to run!"

Two thugs immediately grabbed his arms.

Anthony struggled desperately, but he wasn’t strong enough to break free. He tried to kick one of them, but the man easily avoided it and tightened his grip.

Lanze watched him struggle with contempt.

"Break his limbs."

One of the thugs grinned viciously and grabbed a nearby chair, raising it above his head.

Anthony’s face turned pale.

For the first time since arriving in this world, genuine fear overwhelmed him.

If they broke his arms and legs, his dream of becoming a superhero would be over before it had even begun.

’What kind of hero could I become after being disabled?’

’Handless Man? Mr Disabled?’

The absurd thought flashed through his mind, followed immediately by despair.

’Was it wrong for me to dream of becoming a hero? Should I just—’

The chair began descending.

BOOM!

The restaurant’s front door exploded inward.

The tremendous impact sent fragments flying across the entrance, while the shockwave swept through the room and forced everyone to shield their faces.

The thug holding the chair froze.

Lanze’s expression changed.

And Anthony stared at the ruined entrance in shock.

Through the dust, two figures slowly walked into the restaurant.

A handsome black-haired man stepped forward with an indifferent expression, while beside him walked a beautiful silver-haired woman whose cold gaze swept across the room.

Yes, Su Mo and Yang Qingxi had arrived.

Lanze’s face instantly turned pale.

But what truly shocked him was the woman standing beside Su Mo.

"Boss..."

His voice trembled.

"Why are you here?"

Yang Qingxi looked at him coldly.

"Such an important meeting concerning the company is taking place, and you dare to handle it privately without informing anyone?"

Lanze’s pupils shrank.

’Impossible!’ His mind raced.

’I deleted the email.’

He had personally removed every trace of the message from the company’s computer.

’How did she find out?’

His face became increasingly pale as he realized that whatever precautions he had taken, it didn’t matter now because he was already exposed.

Anthony, meanwhile, stared between the two sides in confusion.

"Privately?"

Yang Qingxi glanced at him before looking around the small restaurant.

"Think about it. Doesn’t it seem strange to you that someone claiming to represent a company as large as Yang Industries would arrange an important business meeting in a place like this?"
