The Demon with Holy Radiance
Chapter 711 - 385: Contaminant (2)
Yang An charged into the white smoke. The Feather Blade in his hand instantly churned the haze, scattering it in a heartbeat.
But once the white smoke had dispersed, the injured monkey was nowhere to be found, having vanished without a trace.
Gripping the Red Feather Blade, Yang An scanned his surroundings but found no sign of the monkey. It had escaped using some strange technique.
’Damn it!’
’This means there’s a good chance the monster in Broken Armor is still there. I can’t risk going back.’
CLICK-CLACK-CLICK!
In that moment, rows of gun barrels once again swiveled to point at Yang An.
"It’s a Mutant! Kill him!"
After seeing Yang An display his abilities, the surrounding gunmen didn’t hesitate for a second and immediately gave the order to fire.
RAT-A-TAT-TAT—
A hail of bullets streamed past Yang An, but surrounded by a whirlwind of countless White Feathers, every single one was precisely blocked. Sparks flew all around him.
’I have to break through!’
’I can’t risk returning to Broken Armor, so my only option is to break out of this city on the 6th Floor. These gunmen are basically ordinary people who can only rely on firearms to fight me; they have no other abilities.’
If he was only dealing with guns, Yang An felt no pressure at all.
The surrounding gunmen were dumbfounded as they watched Yang An perfectly block every single bullet. ’He can even block bullets!’
Yang An’s figure blurred into an afterimage as he sped toward the city gate, having no intention of getting bogged down by these people.
’If I’m not mistaken, there must be higher-level Cultivators above these ordinary people, ones who specialize in capturing and dealing with Mutants.’
’The commotion here will likely attract the 6th Floor’s Cultivators soon.’
’First, I’ll relocate. Then I can return to Broken Armor. That way, I can perfectly avoid the dangers and troubles on both fronts.’
"Don’t let him get away! We can’t let this Mutant escape and cause more trouble!"
Seeing Yang An actually charging toward the city gate through a hail of bullets, one of the gunmen immediately shouted.
But no matter what orders were given, their firearms posed no threat to Yang An.
As he neared the gate, he saw it was now blocked by rows of barbed iron fences. Some men, unafraid of death, stood in his way, but with a single slash of Yang An’s blade, everything was severed, and he burst through.
After breaking through the city gate, he sprinted another thousand meters. The streetlights on either side of the road came to an end, and ahead was nothing but a stretch of darkness, without a single point of light.
The vehicles that had been pursuing him from behind were forced to stop when they saw Yang An disappear into the darkness; they didn’t follow any further.
With no sound of pursuit behind him, Yang An soon came to a stop and began to survey his surroundings.
Here, just like in Broken Armor, he couldn’t use his perception. He also couldn’t use Mana to activate his True Eye for night vision. He could only rely on his naked eyes, but aside from a few vague outlines, Yang An couldn’t see anything clearly.
The area outside the city was surprisingly desolate. The place looked strange, and he could smell a thick, pungent stench of blood and rot.
Yang An couldn’t quite put his finger on why, but perhaps it was his accumulated combat experience. Something deep inside told him this darkness was unusual; this place might be even more dangerous than Broken Armor.
But having already come this far, Yang An didn’t hesitate. He immediately focused on the mask and returned to Broken Armor.
Inside Broken Armor, it was just as gloomy, but not because it was nighttime.
There was no day or night in Broken Armor. The dimness was because Yang An realized he had entered an area enveloped by a calamity.
It was as if a sheet of transparent glass hung in the sky, preventing the calamity’s black mist from seeping into Broken Armor, which in turn affected the surrounding environment and light.
His location had changed. The danger he had faced earlier in Broken Armor was gone, but looking at the shadowy environment ahead, Yang An still felt a headache coming on.
This place, just like the 6th Floor, gave him a sense of danger. It felt as if stepping foot inside would attract terrifying monsters that were hiding in the shadows.
The situations on both sides felt equally dangerous; it was impossible to say which was worse. For a moment, Yang An was caught in a dilemma, the problem giving him a headache.
After a moment’s hesitation, he decided to return to the 6th Floor.
’Compared to Broken Armor, where I’m stuck between a rock and a hard place with monsters potentially everywhere, at least the 6th Floor has a city. The danger would be significantly lower if I returned to the urban area.’
’Besides, the world of the 6th Floor should have a clear day-night cycle. It won’t be long until dawn.’
’Once I can advance after daybreak, the dangers ahead will go from unknown to visible, which should make them easier to handle.’
There was no other choice. Whether in Broken Armor or on the 6th Floor, with all his powers restricted and unusable, Yang An had to proceed with caution.
If his Immortality weren’t restricted, Yang An could be as reckless as he pleased. After all, his tempered physical body was far from weak.
But without his Immortality, he only had one life. Yang An had to prioritize his own survival above all else.
Fortunately, thanks to the mask made from the old monster, he could travel between the 6th Floor and Broken Armor without restriction. In an instant, Yang An was back on the 6th Floor.
Yang An didn’t know what lay in the darkness ahead. Rather than stay here and wait, he figured it was better to return to the city and gather some information first.
This trip hadn’t been a total waste. At the very least, Yang An now knew this area was different from the city—it was filled with danger.
He bypassed the gate he had broken through earlier, entering the city from another, more remote location.
