The Delicate Darling with Her Rough Man
Chapter 815 The Principal Helps
Chen Beiguo and Chen Ruoyu arrived at the commune. One headed to the administrative office, while the other went to the school.
Unbeknownst to Chen Beiguo, right after he left, the village chief had visited his home, intending to go with him to the commune to inquire about the situation. However, the brigade captain’s wife told him that Chen Beiguo had already left. The village chief fell silent for a moment before returning home to wait for news. He was getting old, and he simply couldn’t match the speed of the young folks anymore.
Meanwhile, upon arriving at the commune office, Chen Beiguo sought out an acquaintance to ask about Gu Jiaojiao and Leng Yuan’s situation.
The man hemmed and hawed, brushing him off. "I don’t know anything about this, so stop asking. No one is going to tell you anything. Just go back and wait for news."
Hearing this, Chen Beiguo grew even more anxious and discreetly pulled the man aside. "For the sake of our friendship, just tell me the truth. What exactly is going on?"
The staff member looked troubled. Under normal circumstances, he definitely would have spilled the beans. But not long ago, the higher-ups had personally come down to order strict confidentiality regarding Gu Jiaojiao and Leng Yuan. If he leaked anything now, he wouldn’t be able to keep his job.
"Beiguo, with our relationship, there’s no need for words like that. If I could talk, wouldn’t I have told you already? I’ll be straight with you! Go back and wait for news. Wait with peace of mind." The man blinked at Chen Beiguo, then returned to his desk.
Chen Beiguo pondered this for a moment. He cast a final glance at the quiet commune office before finally taking his leave.
On the other end, Chen Ruoyu found the principal, who took the matter very seriously upon hearing the news. Mr. Leng and Teacher Gu were outstanding educators at their school. If something happened to both of them, what would become of his students?
The principal immediately picked up the phone and made a call. Whatever was said on the other end made him breathe a sigh of relief. He looked at Chen Ruoyu and cautioned, "Teacher Gu and Mr. Leng’s situation is a bit complicated, but it’s not a major issue. Don’t make a fuss about this for now. If anyone asks, just pretend you don’t know anything."
Chen Ruoyu immediately thanked the principal and left the school. Just as she stepped out of the gates, she spotted Chen Beiguo. The two exchanged notes as soon as they met. Though neither knew exactly what was going on, they kept their speculations to themselves.
The news of Chen Beiguo and Chen Ruoyu heading to the commune together couldn’t be hidden at all. Thus, by the time the two returned to the village, they were immediately swarmed by a crowd.
"Brigade Captain, what’s going on? Why hasn’t Gu Zhiqing returned yet?" The one asking was Chen JianShe’s mother. She was deeply worried about Leng Yuan and Gu Jiaojiao. Such good kids absolutely could not meet with any mishaps!
Besides those who genuinely cared for Leng Yuan and Gu Jiaojiao, there were onlookers just here for the drama, as well as those actively hoping for the couple’s downfall—such as Chen Yan and Chen Shulan, who both held old grudges against Gu Jiaojiao, or Sun Yeshu, who was eagerly awaiting the outcome.
The brigade captain glanced over the crowd, sighed heavily, and shook his head. "I don’t know. I couldn’t find out anything!"
At this, a colorful array of expressions swept across the villagers’ faces. The worried grew more anxious, the spectators looked even more eager for gossip, and those praying for Gu Jiaojiao and Leng Yuan’s ruin wore blatant looks of schadenfreude. Sun Yeshu, however, stood apart from the rest—she was genuinely thrilled.
It seemed her meticulous efforts to dress up today had not been in vain.
Once the crowd dispersed, Sun Yeshu made a beeline straight for Leng Yuan’s house. She figured this courtyard would belong to the Leng Family from now on, since Leng Yuan and Gu Jiaojiao were never coming back.
She had originally planned to move in here, but Leng Qingtian was right—living here meant she might encounter wild boars and wolves. It was far too dangerous, so she definitely couldn’t stay.
Sun Yeshu had wanted to claim her share of the belongings inside, but the courtyard walls and the large iron gate at Leng Yuan’s house were simply too high. Unable to see a single thing over them, Sun Yeshu stamped her feet in sheer frustration.
