Chapter 272 – Re: Call

Day 9

Sunlight filtered into the room, forcing Sui to shield her eyes. With a slight groan, she moved her hand and touched her forehead, doing her daily level check.

Yes. I'll evolve soon and show Rou just how awesome I am! I'll take the hunters out this morning and see if I can close the remaining distance! Oh, I need to feed the rabbits first... and go clean up the hot tub before he sees the mess we left down there yesterday. I'll grab the girls, and we can go do it after... Wait... Why is there daylight coming in here?

She cracked her eyes, trying to get her bearings. They were still in the master bedroom; however, she had somehow twisted around in bed last night, her feet now up by Rou's head, her toes tangled in his hair. The blanket had been pulled off of them, and his bare torso was exposed, his lean yet heavily muscled body now on display. Something had changed, and it was just dawning on her that he was significantly taller than she was now. 

She tilted her head to the side and gasped. His... member was right there, towering above her, casting a shadow over her face. She wanted to scream in fear at the sight. That anything this massive could come near her special place terrified her. 

"It's nice, right?" Ee said, almost making her jump out of her skin. The other goblin woman was wide awake, examining John as well. Ee put her muscular arm beside it, and there was no comparison. Rou had a spear in his pants that would easily skewer a goblin woman.

"It's terrifying." She replied with a gulp. She swore he had two large apples hanging between his legs, ready to spread his seed at a moment's notice. 

I know I'm not even a metre tall right now, but damn it, it's 1/5 my height and as thick as my calves. Wait, this isn't the important part... why is Rou so tall! And his skin, it's grey...almost silver in colour. And he has hair again! And his... penis...

She almost reached for it, wanting to see how it felt, but something stopped her.

"Ahhh!!!" She screamed, shooting upright, her memories snapping back in place. She was a goddess, not a goblin. Well, had been a goddess. She died and was sent here with John... Right, it wasn't Rou or TK, but John. 

"Aq- Sui! Are you okay?" Rou/TK/John said, sitting up quickly, placing his hand on her shoulder.

"I... I forgot who I was... I was Sui, just Sui... I forgot who Eris was... where I came from." She replied, starting to hyperventilate.

"Come here... It's okay..." He said, wrapping his arm around her and pulling her in close. "Don't worry. Even if you forget again, I will know who you really are." He whispered in her ear. 

"What do you mean you forgot who you are, Sui?" Ee asked, sounding confused. She felt her hand resting on her back, trying to offer her some support despite not knowing what the problem was. She was thankful for that, but couldn't express it right now; her mind was in the middle of a full-blown panic attack. 

"We have memories from our time in another world, Ee. It's where her magic comes from, and one of the reasons we are both so strong. It's just that sometimes Sui has a problem with... recalling a few things."

She stiffened at those words, and her terror turned into anger in a flash. "I'm just stupid! You don't need to sugarcoat to save my feelings. That is what a friend would do, right? Tell me the truth and not just what I want to hear?"  She snapped, anger coursing through her veins. She didn't know why she was so angry at him at that moment. She wanted him to hold her, to help her calm down, but apparently reason had fled the mansion this morning. 

"I'm not just going to call you an idiot because of a single bad stat. You have been doing good work the last few days, and you have much to be proud of considering the situation we found ourselves in."

"Why... why... why are Ee and Mi both as smart as I am right now, and will only get smarter when they evolve. I'm going to get left behind again. I know it."

"Sui... how would you get left behind? We are stuck together, remember?" He said, missing the point she was trying to make. Whatever that was. She forgot already.

"Argh! I need a drink." She said, moving to get off the bed, but was stopped by his hand.

"No."

"What? You can't stop me!" She snapped. 

He just stared at her, his raptor-like glare sending shivers down to her very core. She could feel him judging her again... and she didn't want to wait around to find out the verdict.

"I'm going out." She continued, pushing his hand off her shoulder. Surprisingly, he relented and released her.

"Don't go in the woods angry. It's dangerous."

"DON'T TELL ME WHAT TO DO! You're not my father! Or my husband!"

"No, I'm your friend. No alcohol, and don't head off to the woods alone. I don't want to shed tears for my friend dying again."

"Argh!" She shouted, leaving the bedroom and slamming the door behind her. 

"What are you doing, Sui..." She said, tears rolling down her cheeks. She stumbled through the mansion, heading to the kitchen; She didn't know where she would end up, but she wasn't doing it without a bottle of wine.

John stared at the door Aqua just slammed, wondering what the hell he just woke up to. Sunlight was already coming in through the windows, telling him he slept in, but that could be forgiven. He had evolved last night, his body growing significantly. He was still at about the same strength he was in DEN, so the hobgoblin stats were not higher, but he was closer to six feet tall now and had a full head of hair. 

Damn it. No time for preening over my new body right now. 

"Ahhh, hahaha... Rou? Is that you?" Mi asked. She had woken up mid-argument but didn't interrupt. "You look a lot cooler and bigger! But what is wrong with Sui? She is almost never angry."

"Thanks... and I don't know. I just know she probably needs a friend or two right now. You two mind hanging out with her today? I don't think she wants to see me right at this moment, and I'm afraid she will do something she will regret later."

"No problem! I wanted to explore that mine you found, but it can wait." Ee said. 

"Sure... Though, can you take me hunting tomorrow then? I'm getting close to level 100! I want to see if I evolve too!" Mi added excitedly. He had forgotten they were supposed to go out today after morning training.

"You're already that close? I'm only level 71." Ee asked her, crawling out of bed and getting dressed in a small white tube top she had found and black spandex shorts. He hadn't noticed it before, but both the goblin girls were sleeping naked beside them at night, sleeping in a community pile as they had in the cave.

"Hah, sure. Just make sure she is all right and not alone for a while. I'll come check in later." He told Mi, ruffling her hair.

"Sure thing, Rou." "Leave it to us!"

"Great... now, have you two seen my pants? I appear to be naked."

"No... Though I did see a bunch of red robes in the closet. Do you want me to get you one? They look really comfortable."

Do I want to walk around this mansion in a red bathrobe? For the love of God, Alec, give me my pants back. Please!

"Oh, here they are. They were under the covers." Mi said, handing him his pants. Both she and Ee were ogling his junk, which was still standing proudly at full mast despite the earlier conversation.

"Thanks. I appreciate it."

Eat a lemon. I'm not having sex with two goblins just because you stole my pants. My hormones might be on overdrive, but this whole world just makes me feel sad... I'm terrified to find out what the original MC did with those women.

John shook his head, finished getting dressed, and left the bedroom. They were more comfortable now than before, but with a total of thirty-nine mouths to make sure stayed fed, there was no time to relax on a nice, sunny day. He would check in with Aqua later. He was worried that she would actually do something stupid, just to prove a point.

Stepping out into the courtyard, John was surprised at the sight in front of him. Jean had all twenty women outside, most formed up in well-spaced ranks, each with some sort of improvised staff at their sides. Five of them were sitting on chairs off to the side, their expressions still somewhat vacant, but they had enough lucid moments throughout the day that it seemed to him that they had started to recover from their ordeal. 

They were all wearing bunny suits, most in black ones, with a few women in different colours. He watched for a few minutes as they moved through a sequence of exercises, with the pool cues, broom handles, and the pool skimmer handle used as bo staffs. 

"Ahhh!!! Hobgoblin!!!" One of the seated women shouted, pointing at him, sparking a brief panic among their group before Jean slammed her staff down, causing a loud bang and a shockwave that passed over the women.

"That is our lord! The one who saved us all!" She shouted a reprimand at the woman, then stepped towards him and knelt at his feet. All the other women who were training knelt as well. "It is you, isn't it, Milord?" She said, her head bowed.

"Ah... yes. I evolved last night. What are you doing, Jean? I thought I said not to go overboard with this."

"I didn't beat her for her disrespect, as many lords would have required at a minimum. If this displeases you, I am willing to accept any punishment you wish to dispense on my body for atonement, just please, leave disciplining the women to me."

John just blinked, then activated Card on Jean, wondering just what he was dealing with here.

He read through the card two times, then looked down at the kneeling woman. Religious zealotry was something he was familiar with, but not with him being the focus of it. He wanted to tell her that he wasn't a god... and he wasn't, but that had a good chance of changing. He already had an impossibly long life ahead of him if he didn't get killed; he already had powers and abilities normal people would think were godlike. Sure, there were more powerful beings out there, but he had taken the first steps to join those beings. It was just a matter of time and training now to expand his power base and become at least godlike, if not a god himself. 

And if I force the issue, tell her that I am not a god, she might lose that one rock she has to hold on to what is left of her mind.

"Milord, are you okay? Have I displeased you?"

He shook his head. "I'm fine. You have done nothing wrong. I was just surprised to see everyone up and about. Though we should probably make you actual weapons to train with instead of the cleaning supplies."

"If my lord wishes it, the women with artisan skills are at your disposal. Though we will need a place to build a workshop, this castle doesn't really have a space for anything like that."

"I'm sure we can come up with something. I do want to talk to you about what we are going to do going forward here, but it can wait until later. Have you come to a consensus on whether you want to meet your children?"

"We would, my lord, though perhaps outside would be best for now. Sui, Mi, and Ee have helped dispel some of the misgivings they have, but males are... still problematic for many of us, with you being the exception to that rule."

"That is fine. Let's shoot for maybe a simple meeting later this afternoon before dinner. I'll bring just a couple of the more relaxed males to meet them at first." He said. Chi and a couple of the others were very chill goblins, and Kichi seemed to respect him a great deal and shouldn't cause any issues. He wasn't so sure about the others, like that one he knocked out the other day. That one and a couple of his buddies seemed to be resentful of him. 

"I believe that to be for the best."

"Okay then. Carry on with your training, and I will see you all later." He said, then left the courtyard, deep in thought.

I thought MHA was nuts, and Konosuba was crazy, but this place is just insane. I fart, and I level up. I eat food and gain skills. I'm training a group of goblins to hunt and gather on their own and not to rape humans. There is a group of religious zealots in the mansion, wearing Playboy bunny outfits, worshipping me as a god. And to top it all off, the actual goddess is out pouting somewhere, probably drinking despite my warnings. I don't know if I'll make fifty-one more days at this rate. I might need to go hide in the woods for a week, just to save my sanity.
