The Death Mage Who Doesn’t Want a Fourth Time

Chapter V13 Character Summary (1)

Chapter V13 Character Summary (1)

Vandalieu Ark Hillwillow Solder Zakkart – Dhampir (Mother: Goddess), 12 years old, male

Vandalieu has finally enrolled at an Adventurers’ School. Because Darcia is an honorary countess, he has been documented as a noble’s son.

He is also carrying out his plan of using the Tamers’ Guild to make the world recognize exceedingly rare, previously-undiscovered monsters like Eisen; bug-type monsters like Pete and Pain; as well as Undead, as monsters that can be tamed.

He was boldly invited inside by a haunted mansion, which ended up in him taming the entire mansion. Although he only has a very faint awareness of this, he senses that this has caused much trouble for the important nobles who rule the Orbaume Kingdom, such as Prime Minister Tercatanis and Marshal Dolmad. However, he believes that he and his companions are not at fault, as they merely purchased a mansion that had been shown to them by a real estate company.

At the entrance examination for the Adventurers’ School, he succeeded in achieving relatively good results while keeping his true ability hidden – though he stood out significantly during the process.

In Origin, he fought against Rikudou while protecting Mei and Hiroshi through his split entity Banda, and the incident reached its conclusion. He had optimistically thought that this would mean that he would be far less involved in Origin after that, but the exact opposite happened instead.

As a result of Rikudou’s plot to overturn international order, Vandalieu ended up taking Mei and many other individuals from Origin into his care, but that was all part of the plan. However, a part of him becoming a part of the God of Origin was not.

Rather than being far less involved in Origin, he is now destined to constantly be involved in Origin forever, or until Origin’s people forget about him.

As for the cause, it is because he descended upon Origin in order to prevent Rikudou’s attempt to indiscriminately wipe out Origin’s entire population, and because he guided Sergei in his dreams, resulting in Sergei broadcasting Vandalieu’s form and identity to the whole world.

One could say that he reaped what he had sowed, but he blames everything on Rikudou Hijiri for doing such a stupid thing. He is now seething with anger and intends to meticulously destroy Rikudou if they ever meet again.

Now, he watches over Origin with his eyes that resemble those of a dead fish, plays with Hiroshi, Mei, and his other friends inside his ‘Inner World,’ and fears psychological attacks at the Adventurers’ School in the form of teachers asking the students of his class to form pairs or groups with whoever they like.

Although Naruse Narumi (now Amemiya Narumi) had a faint admiration for Vandalieu when he was Amamiya Hiroto, he doesn’t feel anything for her. She is only of value to him as ‘Meh-kun and Hiroshi’s mother.’ If she wasn’t, he would have treated her like Baker, Iwao, or any of the other reincarnated individuals that he hasn’t guided – with indifference, as long as she didn’t die.

That was why he considered making alterations to her brain if she were to neglect Mei and Hiroshi. She made a good impression on him by showing affection and attachment to her children.

Incidentally, he has become even more stubbornly insistent that he is human, and one can even sense a quiet madness in him when he states this.

Pauvina Zakkart – Half-Noble Orc, 9 years old, female

Someone who is like a little sister to Vandalieu. She has gone from being an enormous toddler to being an enormous prepubescent girl, and she came to Orbaume with him to take the Adventurers’ School’s entrance examination.

The guards at the gate found her suspicious, but Vandalieu pushed his way through by insisting that she’s a person who is capable of acquiring Jobs, drawing a lot of attention.

She was rather unsuccessful at holding back during the entrance examination, achieving better results than Vandalieu, but she succeeded in  earning the admiration of a noble’s son who initially tried to start some trouble.

Incidentally, this is also why she was placed in a different class from Vandalieu.

Amemiya Mei – Human, 3 (nearly 4) years old, female

Also known as Meh-kun. She was victorious against Rikudou, who had been aiming to capture her. However, Banda ensured that she wasn’t exposed to anything gruesome (by his standards), so she didn’t have much of an awareness that she was fighting against Rikudou. She simply believes that they went to meh the bad uncle.

She has been able to see spirits since she was an infant, so she has very little aversion to Undead. She is completely fine with seeing gruesome corpses that any ordinary person would turn their gaze away from. Now that she has been given transformation equipment (a wand) by Banda, her first thought would be to try and turn them into Undead.

Pluto’s actions coincidentally caused her to fulfill the requirements for learning death-attribute magic, and she used death-attribute magic to turn the corpses of Rikudou’s discarded experimental subjects into Undead.

Also, she was born with ‘Death-Attribute Charm.’

As always, she loves wriggly objects and even when meeting Vandalieu, Banda’s main body, she found it disconcerting that he didn’t have any wriggly parts, so she thrust her hand into his mouth and pulled out his tongue to stretch it out. It seems that for her, it’s only natural for Vandalieu to be wriggly.

Amemiya Hiroshi – Human, 8 years old, male

Amemiya Hiroto’s son, and Banda’s (Vandalieu’s) sixth or so apprentice. He has learned no-attribute magic, and he is a young mage who is capable of casting ‘Hollow Cannon,’ though it requires the aid of transformation equipment.

Cheat-like abilities are bound to the soul, so he has not inherited any such abilities from his parents, but he has inherited their talent for magic and exceptional physical characteristics.

Combined with Vandalieu’s divine protection and guidance, as well as Banda’s extreme teaching methods (in origin, typical educators do not teach offensive spells to children), his talent is blossoming rapidly.

He hates studying, but he is not unsuited for it or unintelligent. It is simply that he likes having fun more than studying.

Although he is still young, he has relatively good common sense and often makes reasonable objections to Banda’s (Vandalieu’s) absurd statements. However, there are times when he doesn’t, as he knows that they will go unheard.

He admires transformation equipment as any child would, and the one he was given is a defense-specialized type that turns into something resembling the final boss of a horror game. Unlike its design, its function is tremendous. When he concentrated his Mana, he produced a ‘Hollow Cannon’ rather than a ‘Mana Bullet,’ and despite being an amateur when it comes to unarmed combat, he was able to defeat an combat-specialized artificial spirit created by the ‘Shaman’ Moriya.

Thus, Hiroshi has no complaints about its functions…

It seems that he didn’t have much luck in making friends at school, but he gets along with his father’s companions like Ulrika and Joseph, as well as Gabriel and the others who are of similar age.

Joseph Smith – Human, male

A reincarnated individual with the codename ‘Druid’ whose mental wounds were healed by Vandalieu’s guidance. Due to his rapid recovery and frequent visits to the Amemiya Residence, Rikudou Hijiri was wary of him, suspecting that he had made contact with the entity lurking there (Banda).

This resulted in ‘Sleipnir’ being sent to kill him, but with the help of Youdou and Nanamori, who have also been guided, as well as the special mold that Banda and Mei gave him, he succeeded in fending the attack off.

He has been given transformation equipment, a specially-made one that produces not only a body suit, but a helmet and cape as well when activated. Its performance is significantly superior to the generic transformation equipment given to Amemiya Hiroto and the others, but… its design seems to cause him much embarrassment.

Following the incident, he chose to stay behind in Origin and support the Amemiyas.

Ulrika Scaccio – Human, female

A reincarnated individual with the codename ‘Echo.’ Although she is a tall, Northern European beauty with a dignified appearance, she has a sensitive and delicate heart, and her mind suffered greatly from the gruesome events and sights she witnessed during her work with the Bravers.

Her symptoms were worse than Joseph’s – to the point that she needed medication just to be able to leave her home.

However, she encountered Vandalieu in her dreams after Mei’s third birthday party, and with his guidance, she has recovered… supposedly. Now, she does not need medication and is just a little prone to panicking.

However, her mental health is reliant on Banda (Vandalieu), Mei, and Hiroshi, so from an outsider’s perspective, it may appear that she is still mentally ill.

‘Echo’ is a cheat-like ability that reflects any attack directed at Ulrika. It is perhaps best described as an ability that creates a barrier around her that reflects attacks. It does not actually stop attacks to reflect them, so theoretically, it is capable of reflecting any attack, no matter how powerful – grenades, missiles, or even attacks from orbit.

However, the ability cannot reflect poisonous attacks that aren’t specifically directed at her, like poisonous gas.

Following the incident, Ulrika moved to Lambda with Mei and Hiroshi, but she is at risk of debuting as an idol due to Kanako, whom she has met again for the first time in years, and a certain Princess Guider that she hasn’t met yet.

Vandalieu was her last hope, but he is actually in favor of Ulrika’s debut, and Mei and Hiroshi are unlikely to make great efforts to stop it, either, so she is already doomed to this fate.

Shihouin Mari – Human, female

A former Braver with the codename ‘Metamorph.’ After being brainwashed by Rikudou Hijiri and forced to act as his body double, she was used as an experimental subject for research into the death attribute and given the codename ‘Black Maria.’

She has lost her affinity for the other attributes, but is now capable of using death-attribute magic. She was sent to kill Amemiya Hiroto and several other Bravers, but… due to Vandalieu’s guidance, she had already regained her sanity (?) by that point, and she successfully killed the ‘Sahadeva’ Da Long, who was supposed to be supervising the experimental subjects. With the help of the other experimental subjects, she wiped out the entire force that had been deployed by Rikudou before Amemiya Hiroto even arrived.

She has gained the ability to use death-attribute magic as a result of the experiments performed on her, but like Rikudou, she doesn’t possess ‘Death-Attribute Charm,’ so she is unable to create Undead (including Golems). She also hasn’t learned ‘No-Attribute Magic.’ Thus, she has actually become weaker in combat than before the experiments on her.

However, she lost her self-awareness due to Rikudou brainwashing her using magic and drugs, and her mind was altered when she was guided by Vandalieu, so she has become able to directly think using her soul rather than her brain. As a result, ‘Metamorph,’ which was previously only capable of transforming her into another person, has also changed.

She has become able to create duplicates of vital organs such as her brain or heart, allowing her to survive heavy wounds to her head or her chest by preparing replacement body parts in advance.

By combining this with ‘Danger Sense: Death,’ she is almost certain to survive any assassination attempt through methods such as a sniper rifle.

However, she must use parts of her own body to supply the necessary materials to create spare body parts, so she cannot make an infinite quantity of them. For example, she can only replace her head twice without a meal to replenish her body.

However, she is now capable of thinking using her soul, so even if her brain suffers significant damage, as long as her bleeding is stemmed, she can stay alive for several hours.

And because she has chosen to move to Lambda, it is only a matter of time before she willingly transforms into a race other than human, so it can be assumed that she will overcome her ability’s flaws in the future.

Like Ulrika, she is being threatened by Kanako’s evil influence, but she currently intends to participate in the suggested activities, as they will provide a convenient opportunity for her to get to know Vandalieu’s other companions.

Incidentally, she has changed her appearance using ‘Metamorph’ so that she appears to be somewhere in her late teens.

When she acquired death-attribute magic, her Mana was approximately thirty thousand. Her Mana increase was less dramatic than Rikudou’s when he was reincarnated as ‘Arch-Avalon’ because the process was carried out on her while she was still alive, whereas Rikudou actually died in order to achieve reincarnation.

Incidentally, she refers to Amemiya Mei as ‘Mama.’ Her personality collapsed in the past, and just before it did, she clung strongly onto her memories of her deceased mother. Her mind has been reconstructed with those memories as its support.

She understands that Mei is a different person from the person she called ‘Mother,’ but she sees no contradiction between that fact and calling Mei ‘Mama.’

Yukijoro – Human, late teens, female

An Asian girl with skin so pale that she looks ill. She was one of the experimental subjects that Rikudou gathered for his death-attribute research, and as a result of the experiments performed on her, she is capable of freezing people to death with waves of icy air.

Her ability does not directly manipulate ice or cold air; it creates cold air that saps the target’s body heat. Thus, she is unable to cool down inanimate objects or freeze water that contains no living things… though this is perhaps an unimportant distinction, as she can freeze any inanimate object that is in contact with any living organisms and water that contains microscopic organisms such as bacteria and plankton.

She also has an ability… or rather, a special characteristic, that prevents her from freezing to death herself. This characteristic merely prevents her from dying of hypothermia; it doesn’t actually prevent her body from being frozen.

If she were to be shut in a freezer, she would stay alive even if she were frozen solid.

Of course, she can be physically wounded by ice if it is thrown at her, and she would die if she were to be broken into pieces after being frozen solid.

She is not particularly weak to flames. She possesses an average resistance to heat.

Having been guided by Vandalieu when she met him in her dreams, she calls Vandalieu ‘God’ and Mei ‘Saintess.’ However, she does not feel any particular emotion towards the Amemiyas despite the fact that they are Mei’s parents. She has no desire to pick fights with them and cause trouble, but also does not see a need to go out of her way to form a close relationship with them. In other words, she considers them to be strangers that happen to share Mei’s facial features and surname.

Rikudou’s experimental subjects are similar to the Eighth Guidance, but one difference is that they do not feel any animosity towards the Bravers, who killed the ‘Undead’ – Vandalieu in his previous life. This is because the one who saved them was Vandalieu, not the ‘Undead.’

If Vandalieu himself still held a grudge against the Bravers for killing him, then perhaps the experimental subjects would do the same. But that isn’t the case, and Vandalieu doesn’t care about it now, so Yukijoro and the others follow his lead… though it is also partially because they couldn’t afford to argue with the Bravers right before the battle against Rikudou.

However, although they have no animosity towards the Bravers, they also do not trust them other than Joseph and the others who have been guided by Vandalieu. They are of the belief that if the Bravers had been competent, they would have been able to realize what Rikudou Hijiri was doing behind the scenes.

Bokor – Human, late teens, male

A bespectacled Latin-American boy in his late teenage years. Bokor himself doesn’t remember exactly how old he is, and he isn’t particularly curious to find out.

He was one of the experimental subjects of Rikudou Hijiri’s death-attribute research, and due to the alterations made to his brain, he has become unable to make any facial expression other than a smile, and every emotion other than joy has become weaker.

His limited death-attribute spells are ‘Proliferation’ and ‘Growth Acceleration,’ which closely resemble ‘Life-Attribute Magic.’ In fact, similar life-attribute spells do exist.

However, Bokor’s ‘Proliferation’ and ‘Growth Acceleration’ are based on shortening the target’s lifespan.

Living things are born, grow, proliferate, and then die. Bokor’s spells accelerate their target’s growth and proliferation in order to shorten the time until its death.

They are terrifying spells, but they take a long time to affect targets with long lifespans, such as large animals, people, and trees. Thus, he often uses his spells to target parasites, microbes, and cancerous cells that Gabriel creates in the enemy’s body in order to kill them. (His spells were effective on Joseph’s plants because they were temporary plants with short lifespans created using his cheat-like ability.)

In times of emergency, he is also capable of casting these spells on himself in order to boost his physical capabilities. However, this shortens his own lifespan, so he doesn’t do this unless he is very desperate.

Perhaps because his codename is a reference to Vodou priests, he has become something of a priest who worships Vandalieu and Mei, and his behavior and speech often reflect this.

He has strong bonds with his companions, to the point that he risked his own life to protect Yukijoro from the artificial spirit attacking her.

Gabriel – Human, early teens, androgynous

An attractive boy or girl with a well-ordered, androgynous appearance. He is indeed androgynous and belongs to neither gender.

He was one of Rikudou Hijiri’s experimental subjects, and was originally a pair of twins – a boy and a girl. Although they were fraternal twins, they possessed similar appearances and physiques, with such similar genomes that their organs were compatible with one another, and Rikudou turned them into a single person.

This was an experiment performed with the goal of creating a prototype of ‘Arch-Avalon,’ but this Frankenstein experiment using living twins succeeded in a way that Rikudou didn’t expect.

Since he was resuscitated in a single body, Gabriel has possessed the memories of both twins and a single combined personality that is neither that of the boy nor the girl.

This is likely because the surgery was carried out in prepubescence, before either twin’s self-awareness was truly developed… If it was carried out when they were a few years older, Gabriel would likely have developed two separate personalities.

As a side-effect of the experiment, he gained the limited death-attribute spell known as ‘Conception.’ It creates parasites, microbes, and cancerous cells inside the target’s body. These are created by the spell, so it does not matter if the target’s constitution makes them unsusceptible to parasites, pathogens, or cancer. However, once they have been created, whether they continue to proliferate depends on the target, and this takes time. Thus, it lacks immediate effectiveness unless paired with Bokor’s spells.

Perhaps because their ages are relatively close, he gets along well with Hiroshi, and the two are often together. Gabriel is the older of the two, but because he was raised in confinement inside Rikudou’s laboratory, Hiroshi is often more knowledgeable.

Youdou Masaki, human, male

A reincarnated individual with the codename ‘Sandman.’ He possesses a cheat-like ability that can target anything he is looking at or anything that is within about a hundred meters of him. It can make living targets unconscious or put them in a semi-conscious state, and can prevent the launching or ignition of inanimate objects. When the Bravers were an international rescue organization, he helped injured and ill people by keeping them safely asleep.

In his downtime, he often went on missions to safeguard and transport injured wild animals.

After the Bravers became an anti-terrorist organization, he often used his ability to suppress terrorists and armed insurgents, or simply fought them using his magic and physical capabilities. But unlike Joseph and Nanamori, his mind wasn’t worn down by the gruesome sights and battles with his life on the line.

No matter how many people he killed, how much he fought, and how many victories he achieved, the battle against terrorism was endless, and he began to feel that everything was meaningless, and these thoughts caused him to struggle with suicidal ideations.

But he repeatedly encountered Vandalieu in his dreams. But in truth, after the first encounter, subsequent encounters were with the fragment of Vandalieu’s soul – his divine protection – that Vandalieu had attached to Youdou’s soul during their first meeting.

After asking numerous questions and receiving numerous answers, he arrived at an answer: The idea that crimes and terrorism could be ended was a mistaken belief in the first place. With that in mind, he began working with Joseph, who had also recovered from his mental wounds.

After the incident caused by Rikudou Hijiri, he chose to remain in Origin for a while longer.

Nanamori Misato – Human, female

A reincarnated individual with the codename ‘Asclepius.’ An expert in healing magic, which is amplified by ‘Asclepius,’ she is able to save just about any patient as long as they aren’t already dead.

However, she was often recruited to work at disaster sites, the sites of serious incidents, and field hospitals, which exposed her to gruesome scenes that inflicted deep wounds on her mind. But using this as a reason to refuse these missions would mean abandoning the people that she would otherwise be able to save, so she had no choice but to keep accepting these deployments. This environment took its toll on her mind, and she eventually collapsed, which forced her to retire from the frontlines.

But she encountered Vandalieu in her dreams and made a recovery through his guidance, like Joseph. She has also become able to apply the effects of ‘Asclepius’ to the repair of inanimate objects.

She chose to stay in Origin in order to resolve the situation created by Rikudou and rebuild the Bravers… thus postponing her coming under the evil influence that would seek to guide her towards debuting as an idol. In a way, she is quite fortunate.

Sergei Dallant – Human, 48 years old, male

A former general and the current president of the Federal States who maintains a good physique. He is the individual who can be credited for (or the culprit who can be blamed for) turning a part of the God of Origin into Vandalieu, and the secret savior of the Federal States.

He was originally a very ordinary, patriotic, elite soldier. But when his young son was saved by Pluto, who was working as a part of the Eighth Guidance at the time, he became a secret worshiper of the Eighth Guidance.

But when the Eighth Guidance were destroyed, he wasn’t a general yet and didn’t have the authority to interfere in the battle. He had difficulty in deciding whether to prioritize his duty as a soldier or as a worshiper of the Eighth Guidance. Another reason Sergei wasn’t able to act was that Pluto and the others didn’t encourage their worshipers from carrying out acts of terrorism; in fact, they had forbidden it.

As a result, the Eighth Guidance were wiped out and Sergei was tormented by feelings of regret. Several years later, he encountered Vandalieu and Mei in his dreams and was saved by them.

After being guided in his dreams, he awakened as a worshiper. To ensure that he didn’t make the same mistake as with the Eighth Guidance, he gathered collaborators and built up his own influence within the military in preparation of the times that were to come. He spread various rumors about himself – rumors that he intended to campaign to become president in the next election, and rumors that he wanted to become a senator. This allowed him to escape the eyes of the Investigation Agency, and as a result, the eyes of Rikudou and his collaborators.

When the vice president gave the order to attack Banda, Sergei carried out a coup d’état. His first order as president was to construct a garden for Mei, and his second was to broadcast Vandalieu, who had descended upon the world with just his soul, to the whole world.

The former is currently in the planning stage, and it is unclear as to whether Mei will actually use it. But as a result of the latter, many citizens across the Federal States lost consciousness, and the Eighth Guidance and the new president have many more supporters than before.

If Sergei hadn’t taken action, perhaps Banda might not have attacked the entirety of the Federal States, but it is highly likely that he would have attacked the vice president’s command center, and Vandalieu would have never become a part of the God of Origin, so in a way, he is one of the most important people in Origin’s history.

It can be assumed that he will cooperate with the Bravers to bring the situation caused by Rikudou under control.

Dandolip – Elf, more than 300 years old, male

His real name is Randolf. He went undercover and received instruction from Kanako as a blue-haired Elf bard named Rudolf, then returned to his normal life afterwards… but after accepting a request from an old friend, he encountered Vandalieu once more.

He became an adventurer to reclaim his homeland, which was turned into a Devil’s Nest, but nobody truly shared this desire, not even the other Elves who had once lived there. When they failed to give him their aid, he gave up on his dreams and ideals.

He is more guided by Kanako’s Artistic Path than by Vandalieu, and she is one of the people he respects.

Meorilith – Elf, more than 200 years old, female

An Elf woman who serves as principal of what is commonly referred to as the ‘Hero Preparatory School’ – an Adventurers’ School in Orbaume, the capital of the Orbaume Kingdom, that is attended by those with special qualities.

She is not from Randolf’s homeland, but is one of his oldest friends, and a former A-class adventurer. After she retired from adventuring, she was appointed as principal on account of her skills and knowledge.

She has strong connections with the kingdom’s nobles, as her school is attended by third or fourth-born sons who cannot become the heads of their houses, mistress’s daughters and illegitimate children who can’t be used for marriages of convenience, and knights’ apprentices who want the prestige and experience that come with being an adventurer.

She knows of Randolf’s past, and is one of the few people who could still contact him after his retirement. The two were also former lovers with a physical relationship, but this never progressed to marriage.

But both of them consider each other as more than friends, and she does seem to care about Randolf.

Amemiya Hiroto – Human, male

The leader of the Bravers who has defeated Rikudou and prevented the world of Origin from destruction for now. However, there is no peace for him yet, as the second-in-command of his own organization was the culprit behind the incident.

Of course, various presidents and important figures from all over the world collaborated with Rikudou, so Amemiya won’t be held solely responsible, but there is still more turmoil to come for the Bravers and Origin.

It now falls on Amemiya’s shoulders to overcome this with the help of President Sergei Dallant and the remaining Bravers.

He previously believed that the death attribute was something that shouldn’t exist, but that was only because research into the death attribute and creating users of death-attribute magic creates many victims, not because he believes that the death attribute itself is evil. Thus, he doesn’t have any desire to eliminate any already-existing experimental subjects and death-attribute magic users.

Incidentally, if his and Rikudou’s cheat-like abilities were reversed, the Bravers might have become a peaceful organization (except the incident with Vandalieu) with Rikudou as its leader and Amemiya providing support through administrative work and operations management.

He has seven cheat-like abilities – ‘Ignore Defense,’ ‘All-Attribute Affinity’ (except for the death and time attributes), ‘Simultaneous Multi-cast Chant Revocation,’ ‘Unending Strength,’ ‘Mind of Steel,’ ‘Strengthened Fortune,’ and ‘Strengthen Performance.’ However, the main three he uses are ‘Ignore Defense,’ ‘All-Attribute Affinity,’ and ‘Simultaneous Multi-cast Chant Revocation.’

‘Undying Strength’ is a form of adrenaline rush that allows him to shout, “I’m not done yet!” and get up to continue fighting, even when his strength is completely depleted.

‘Mind of Steel’ prevents him from being psychologically affected by his experiences. Thus, Amemiya has never suffered mental wounds despite the fierce battles he has experienced and the gruesome scenes he has seen.

‘Strengthened Fortune’ is an ability that strengthens the fortune that has been given to all reincarnated individuals. Thus, he is blessed with more good luck than the other reincarnated individuals.

‘Strengthen Performance’ is an ability that strengthens the performance of any object that he uses. If he uses a 40-caliber firearm, it fires with the power of a 50-caliber firearm and the recoil of a 30-caliber firearm. If he uses a pot for cooking, it will never burn. Transformation equipment is also affected by this cheat-like ability.

He agreed to leave Mei and Hiroshi in Vandalieu’s care because he understands that safe places for them are in extremely short supply in Origin.

Amemiya Narumi – Human, female

A female Braver with the codename ‘Angel.’ She is Hiroshi and Mei’s mother.

She simultaneously learned of Rikudou’s betrayal and the fact that Banda had existed for years in her own home. But despite the shock of these revelations, she had to fly all over the world in order to help save it. Although she learned that Banda’s true identity is Amamiya Hiroto, Banda disliked talking about this matter in detail, so she wasn’t even given any time to process it.

Banda thought that this was the most reasonable course of action, as it would be extremely troublesome to be mentally shaken by such unimportant matters right before the decisive battle.

Her feelings for Amamiya Hiroto are but a memory to her now. Those feelings were what began the romance between her and her husband, Amemiya Hiroto, but that is precisely why she still remembers them. Thus, her encounters with Banda and Vandalieu were very shocking to her.

However, she isn’t particularly disappointed in Amemiya Hiroto (the issue of Amemiya Hiroto lying to her for a while after their first meeting was something they resolved before they married), so her relationship with her husband is unaffected. And she does have some sense of how Banda (Vandalieu) feels towards her and her husband, so no soap-opera-like developments are likely to happen.

Although Banda told her and Hiroto that they would ‘leave the discussion for another time,’ but in the end, the discussion never happened.

Derrick Sander – Human, male

A muscular Caucasian man with a visibly fiery personality.

He is a reincarnated individual with the codename ‘Chiron,’ born in the Federal States. He possesses the cheat-like abilities ‘Increase Learning Ability of Target’ and ‘Promote Improvement of Target.’

He was a high school teacher on Earth, but unlike Murakami, he still felt responsible for his former students to some extent. However, because they are all of the same age in their current lives, he maintains an appropriate distance.

Before he joined the Bravers, he avoided drawing attention to himself, making a living as a personal trainer at a sports gym and only using his cheat-like ability to help his clients succeed in their dieting.

After joining the Bravers, he generally worked behind the scenes. After gaining the skills and knowledge needed to teach others, he served as an instructor for the other Bravers as well as police officers and rescue team members all over the world.

However, Derrick himself is by no means a weak individual; he is significantly more capable than an ordinary member of an elite military force.

He was shunned by Rikudou Hijiri due to having a similar cheat-like ability to his and even being able to target others with it. Rikudou deliberately stopped him from becoming a prominent and well-known figure, but Derrick wasn’t bothered by this at all.

Other Bravers describe his personality as ‘an Asagi who understands the concept of personal distance.’ And because Rikudou kept him working behind the scenes, he has strong personal connections with police organizations and rescue teams all over the world.

With Rikudou and his subordinates gone from the Bravers organization, he is likely to become a high-ranking member.

Rikudou Hijiri – Human God Former god, male

A member of the Bravers with the codename ‘Avalon.’ He supported Amemiya Hiroto and the others since the formation of the organization. He possesses the ‘Increased Learning Speed’ and ‘Unlimited Development’ abilities, and he is either the strongest or second-strongest among the Bravers in terms of magic use and skills in combat without the use of cheat-like abilities.

However, rather than operating in the field, he served as the Bravers’ leader in the shadows, in charge of the administrative work and information warfare… or so it was believed. In reality, he was a manipulator who became obsessed with researching death-attribute magic and betrayed his companions.

He gradually eliminated his companions that were a hindrance to him, such as ‘Inspector’ and ‘Urðr,’ and he and his subordinates took control over the Bravers. He had Amemiya operate in the field while he secretly continued his research into death-attribute magic.

On Earth, he was a serious individual with good conduct and high grades, but ever since he was a child, he was gripped with a desire to become special. But on Earth, he decided that becoming special was impossible and tried to convince himself that he was satisfied with a safe path to becoming as special as it was feasible for him to become.

However, after he was reincarnated in Origin with cheat-like abilities, he decided to try and become truly special. However, the abilities he gained were abilities that allowed him to gain strength proportional to his efforts – something that is difficult to objectively observe and measure. He was unable to become special like a hero himself, and so he tried to convince himself that he was satisfied with being the person in the shadows who directed those who had become heroes, such as Amemiya, like pawns.

But upon learning about the existence of the death-attribute, he realized that he could become a special, one-of-a-kind being in this world by acquiring it, and he was eventually consumed with an ambition to become a new god.

He displayed a steel-like perseverance as he worked towards this goal, maintaining his outward persona and working in secret for years while gathering people who would become his subordinates and collaborators. However, he had a ruthless side; he didn’t hesitate to resort to inhumane methods to achieve his goals. He conducted human experiments on subjects like Gabriel, and took full advantage of even the other reincarnated individuals.

However, it seems that he had a relationship of trust with Moriya Kousuke and his other loyal and capable subordinates. He killed Moriya, and two others to strengthen himself during battle, but he did so not with the sense that he was using them as disposable pawns, but with the sense that he was making them a part of his own strength; he never believed that he was betraying them.

Because he was aiming to become special, he believed that he existed at the world’s peak, and everyone else was below him. It seems that this belief grew stronger, to the point that he couldn’t hide it, after he was reincarnated as ‘Arch-Avalon’ and went from being a mortal to a god.

Believing that being reincarnated once more is necessary to acquire death-attribute magic, he created an apparatus to carry this out. This apparatus functioned as a circle of transmigration system, resulting in him becoming a god.

With this apparatus, he was reincarnated in a completely hairless, three-meter-tall, sturdy and beautiful body that resembled a Greek statue.

This body was extremely powerful, and if his only enemies were Amemiya and his companions, he would have overwhelmed them without any difficulty. But because he also had to face Banda at the same time, this battle resulted in him dying a third time.

However, his soul was saved by Rodcorte before it could be broken, and he and Moriya are currently both inside Rodcorte’s fist.

In addition to Moriya, his other subordinates included the ‘Knight’ Nabeshima, the ‘Issun-boshi’ Yazaki, the ‘Artemis’ Katherine Miller, the ‘Sahadeva’ Da Long, and the ‘Copy’ Iguchi Takeo.

Although there are many differences between him and the gods of Lambda, he was the first human of Origin to become a god. It can be said that it is inevitable for him to be different from the gods of Lambda, as the laws of physics are different between the two worlds.

Moriya Kousuke – Human, male

A reincarnated individual with the codename ‘Shaman.’ He was a close subordinate of Rikudou’s who served as something of a secretary.

He truly admired Rikudou Hijiri and truly wished for the coming of a new world ruled by him. He genuinely believed that this would save the world, and even now, he has no doubts in that belief.

His loyalty borders on fanaticism – to the point that even after his death, which was caused by Rikudou himself, his loyalty never wavered; he chose to obey Rikudou and was not charmed by Mei.

This is not because Rikudou possesses ‘Death-Attribute Charm,’ but because Moriya and the other subordinates had already sworn a fanatical loyalty to him while they were still alive.

After Rikudou’s death, Rodcorte recovered his soul while Vandalieu devoured the souls of Nabeshima and Yazaki, and Moriya was fortunate enough to have been saved as well.

He is currently inside Rodcorte’s fist, along with Rikudou’s soul.

Johnny Yamaoka – Human, male

A reincarnated individual with the codename ‘Balor.’ He always kept his distance from most of the Bravers, including Rikudou, and was thought to be a quiet person who was devoted to his missions, but he turned out to be a loyal subordinate of Rikudou’s.

His cheat-like ability drains any form of energy (including electricity, heat, kinetic energy, and Mana) from any target in his sight, and converts it into Mana for himself.

Because targets with their energy drained are reduced to a helpless crawl, his codename is named after Balor, a mythological being with a magical eye that saps the will to fight from anyone he looks at.

He is highly capable in combat even without his cheat-like ability, to the point that he was able to win a fight against a tank with his bare hands. However, Banda closed in on him before he could sap his energy, and the Demon King’s nerves were inserted into his brain while he was still alive. He was then killed after having all the information he knew sucked out of him, such as information about Rikudou’s future plans and his own credit card number.

Because Banda used a credit card that was issued in Johnny’s name, the false information that ‘the alien’s true identity is Johnny Yamaoka’ circulated for a while, causing him to become famous in an unexpected way.

Governments all over the world, including the Federal States, quickly realized that this information was incorrect, but this misinformation is apparently still circulating among the ordinary people.

Nishikaga Yoshihiko – Human, male

A Braver with the codename ‘Sleipnir.’ He piloted a state-of-the-art Federal States fighter aircraft to shoot down the transport aircraft carrying Derrick, Joseph, Youdou, and Nanamori, but his missiles were blocked by Youdou and Nanamori’s combined efforts. He then met a miserable end, eaten alive by mold created through Joseph’s ability.

The criminal that Derrick and the others were supposed to escort in South America never existed to begin with. The entire mission was a fabrication to have them all board a transport aircraft.

Nishikaga possesses a cheat-like ability that improves the performance of anything he rides; if he were to be reincarnated in Lambda, he might become a capable tamer.

Incidentally, he was previously a racecar driver. He did try his hand at rodeo, but improving the strength of the bull he rode simply resulted in him being easily thrown off the saddle. He apparently swore never to ride a bull ever again after that.

Sugiura Nanaya – Human, male

A Braver with the codename ‘Ares.’ He pretended to be a close friend of Amemiya Hiroto like Iwao and Baker, but in reality, he was a loyal subordinate of Rikudou.

There was a plan to draw Amemiya and several other Bravers out on a fabricated mission, then kill them with a surprise attack from the experimental subjects ‘Black Maria,’ ‘Gabriel,’ ‘Yukijoro,’ and ‘Bokor,’ as well as the ‘Artemis’ Katherine Miller and the ‘Sahadeva’ Da Long. Sugiura was a backup measure planted in Amemiya’s team, to finish the job in the unlikely event that the ambush failed. This was the perfect plan to get rid of Amemiya Hiroto.

But ‘Black Maria,’ also known as Shihouin Mari, regained her sanity and worked with the other experimental subjects to betray Katherine and Da, causing the entire plan to go up in smoke. Sugiura was also killed as a result, falling victim to Gabriel and Bokor’s combined abilities.

He possesses the ‘Double Power’ cheat-like ability which doubles the power of any magic or weapon he uses; if an ordinary battle had taken place, he might have proven to be quite a powerful enemy.

Orlock Tweiss – Human, 58 years old, male

The Guild Master of the Tamers’ Guild headquarters in Orbaume Central. He is currently a good-natured old man, gentle and thoughtful, but in his youth, he was a hot-blooded, up-and-coming tamer and adventurer who often got into quarrels with the Guilds.

But with the experience that he gained over the years, he retired from field work and joined the Guild to provide instruction for the next generation, and came to realize that there are different opinions and perspectives that he understands now that he is a part of the Guild. He is now the Guild Master, but he was recently presented with Vandalieu’s report that he has managed to tame Undead monsters.

He was then asked to inspect Pete and Pain, who shrunk themselves to the size of Rank 1 monsters.

He is a member of the Guild who understands the troubles of the higher-ups, but at the same time, he understands that the Guild exists for its members. He is willing to fight royals, nobles, and government officials who bring complaints in order to protect the tamers that are a part of the Guild, which makes him very popular among the Guild’s staff and tamers.

That conviction ended up in him being used by Vandalieu, but… perhaps he was destined to be involved with Vandalieu, known as the ‘Genius Tamer,’ ever since he arrived in Orbaume.

Jetavo – Human, 37 years old, male

The man who serves as foreign affairs minister, responsible for diplomacy and foreign affairs. He is the head of the Jetavo house of earls, one of the so-called foreign affairs noble houses that take turns every five to ten years to fill this position.

Because there are no other nations on the Bahn Gaia continent other than the Amid Empire and its vassal nations, which have been considered enemies since the kingdom’s foundation (the Demon Empire of Vidal hasn’t been recognized as a nation), the position of foreign affairs minister is a relatively leisurely one compared to being the marshal or the internal affairs minister.

However, because he is responsible for exchanges with the other duchies and nations outside of the continent, it is not an entirely leisurely post.

As the current foreign affairs minister, Earl Jetavo is neither particularly capable nor particularly incompetent; he is a very ordinary foreign affairs minister. He is a man who relies on his common sense, in both good ways and bad, which causes him to suffer headaches caused by the behavior of useless and foolish nobles who are panicking over the large changes that have recently been taking place in the nation.

He wishes that he could live in peace until his term as foreign affairs minister comes to an end, but given that Duke Alcrem has begun to push his reforms, he has all but given up on that hope.
