The Dawn of the New World

Chapter 626 - Repair

*BOOOM*

Hao Xuan crashed into the ground, leaving a trail of broken trees and overturned land in his wake. The area around the point of impact looked as if a bomb had gone off, sending shockwaves for several miles in every direction.

Yet the pain and backlash that he was expecting were barely there. Hao Xuan's body floated a few inches above the ground, surrounded by a golden light that was revolving around him in a circle, constantly changing locations.

Hao Xuan looked around, confused to the extreme.

"Baracus, what's going on?" he asked quietly.

A blue light flashed on the top left of his vision and a series of notifications popped up, a backlog of what had happened while he was 'away'.

"Incoming DataStream Detected."

"Analyzing..."

"DataStream Corruption Detected."

"Attempting Recovery."

"Recovery Successful."

"Hu- *zz* -man *Kzt* ca-"

A bunch of broken words vocalized by Baracus himself came into Hao Xuan's ears. 'Can you understand me' it asked. It was obviously coming from the glyph which Hao Xuan was able to deduce himself.

Unfortunately, he was not able to reply to it since he had already lost consciousness by that time, but that did not stop it from sending in more messages in its own voice. After clearing them up and putting together what it was trying to say, a finished audio log appeared in front of Hao Xuan's eyes which he listened to.

"You are unusual, not from here," an adolescent voice said. It was androgynous in nature, alternating between male and female. It sounded like it was trying to force itself to talk. It continued.

"I am also different, reborn into a new form. I require your aid, your physical frame's assistance," it paused here, trying to find the correct words, "The others will look for me. Give me protection from them, the stronger ones. Help me and I will help you. Are we in agreement?"

The entire thing sounded so awkward that Hao Xuan couldn't help but wince a little. It sounded like this was the first time it was communicating this way. The words were there and it knew what they meant, but stringing them into one meaningful sentence was not an easy task.

Right after that, a few more notifications were recorded.

"Molecular Scan Detected."

"Genetic Data Collection in progress."

"Receiving DataStream."

"Analyzing..."

"Gene Sequence Data Receiving.........."

"Received."

"Analyzing............"

"Analyzing....."

It repeated twice. It must have been a lot of information seeing as it took Baracus that long to decipher it properly.

"Gene Sequence Data Analyzed."

"Catalogued Species: 14,010,090,120,090...."

The number kept going on and on. Hao Xuan tried to read it out loud but it was so big that he couldn't even count that high.

"Genetic Anomaly Detected."

"Appropriating Resources."

"Conducting Trial."

"Rebuilding Experimental Gene Sequence.."

The notifications went on and on for several pages and Hao Xuan couldn't even make sense of most of them.

"Just tell me what happened, for god sakes," he finally shouted after not being able to understand most of what he just read.

"The Glyph is Sapient. It had undergone a major tribulation and was looking for a shelter when it found you. In exchange for letting it hide in your body, it has provided a comprehensive database regarding genetic disorders and experimentation from a great many species, along with assisting me in understanding two of the significant genetic mutations within your own bloodstream."

"Your current state is due to the basic repairs being done with the Glyph's help. It will be restored in approximately 180 seconds."

"Three minutes? That's not too bad..." Hao Xuan mumbled but not a moment later his ears twitched. He could hear movement to his southeast, getting closer by the second.

Hao Xuan tried to move but he was stuck in the air, unable to do anything other than flail around in a panic.

"Yo cancel this shit, we don't have time. Something is already here!" Hao Xuan ordered but Baracus's response left him speechless.

"Negative. Stopping midway will cause damage to most of the vital organs. Brain death will occur within twenty standard seconds."

"...then can you speed it up?" Hao Xuan asked anxiously, looking over his shoulder to the right, peering towards the source of the disturbance.

"Affirmative. Shutting down all other senses and neuron pathways will allow me to redirect more resources to the current operation. Time will reduce to 110 seconds. Should I proceed?"

"Shutting down everything? Then will I not be able to move then?"

"Affirmative. Only the auditory system will be in effect."

"Like I'm much better right now, fine, do it!"

As soon as Hao Xuan gave the green light his vision went dark and his body fell to the ground, hovering a few inches above it. He couldn't feel, smell, or see anything, only able to hear the constantly nearing footsteps.

The golden light surrounding him lessened by several degrees, most of it entering inside his body.
