The Dawn of the New World

Chapter 105 - 'Rewards' Continued

"A-About 500 Million gold!" Fourth shouted and ran as far away as he could.

"500 Million?!" Hao Xuan repeated angrily.

"Y-Yes! Please brother, calm down!" he said while hiding behind a tree several meters away.

"Fourth Brother!" Hao Xuan looked at him straight in the eyes, the Emperor's Qi was still leaking out a violet-colored mist that was spreading out in waves.

"Yes!" Fourth replied ceremoniously as if he was answering to a superior. Even though he was the senior...

"Ho...how much is 500 Million gold? Is it a lot? Can I buy a cruiser in that?" Hao Xuan's voice became fainter and fainter as the sentence came to an end.

".....Yes..?" Fourth was speechless at this point. Did his junior brother not even know the worth of money?

"Um, No, a cruiser can't be bought with Gold. Even if someone was stupid enough to sell one, it would cost trillions. You might not be able to even rent one out for just 50 Billion," he said while calming down.

"Eh? Really? Then what's the use of gold?" Hao Xuan frowned. The hell kind of currency did they give him...

Fourth let out a sigh of relief and regained his composure. He slowly walked back to the campfire and sat down, "Brother, our world is separated into two kinds. One is the cultivation world we live in, and the other is the Mortal world everyone else lives in."

He looked up at Hao Xuan with a serious expression rarely found on his face, "As cultivators, we will live many hundreds of years. Even thousands isn't that big of a deal. But for mortals living past 130 is already a miracle. That's why our worlds are separated by an invisible barrier. We may walk with them and eat with them, but we are very different. Gold is the currency of mortals. With it you can buy yourself some land, start a business, or even buy other luxuries that weren't available to you before."

He smiled, "There are still a lot of uses for Gold. Don't worry about it. People spend their entire lives without even seeing a 10th of your wealth so you shouldn't be greedy. You did get the short end of the stick but it's not as bad as you think."

Hao Xuan looked him in the eyes and all the anger that was bubbling out of him a second ago vanished like smoke. He smiled back, "You're right brother, I'm sorry."

They chatted for a little while longer until Hao Xuan remembered to take a look at the "loot" he had picked up during the fight. So he excused himself and wanted to return to his room but Sixth shouted from the back, stopping him.

"Ninth brother, the reward for the last mission also came in. You should be able to buy some nice things with that!"

"Last mission?" he frowned thinking about it until he remembered, the poison quarry! He did manage to save the Royals from the Gao kingdom, including the ex-great general and General Li's friend. Those rewards mustn't be too bad either.

He nodded and went back to the room. Zhurong was still sleeping soundly with a small puddle of drool next to him. On anyone else, it would look disgusting but with his small fluffy body that was barely as big as Hao Xuan's hand, it was extremely cute.

"How can this brat eat so much and then sleep like this? Is he a bear of some kind?" he mumbled while stroking his head which made Zhurong smile even in his sleep and he started purring.

Hao Xuan smiled and sat down on the bed. He closed his eyes and appeared in his Mind Palace.

As he walked the first thing he saw were the baby snakes that came wriggling over as soon as they sensed his arrival.

"Haha, you guys are cute too. I still have to name you guys," he picked them up in his hands and smiled once again.

"Master!" but then two voice came from the sides as a couple of figures appeared in front of him.

They were two men with extremely large builds. Both were around 17 feet tall, twice as big as Hao Xuan.

They had huge muscles and looked like the bodybuilders back from earth. They were dressed in simple robes and looked to be about 30 years of age.

But their faces had solemn expressions which along with the natural aura exuding from their bodies, gave them a very stern and unyielding image.

"Rise," Hao Xuan smiled looking at them and waved his hand.

They stood up but still didn't even raise their heads, standing in front of Hao Xuan like obedient children, he asked: "Is this your human form?"

"Yes master," they respectfully nodded as if talking to someone superior.

It wasn't their fault, now that Hao Xuan had severed their souls and had full control over them, he was their God. Just by standing in front of him, they would be happy. A single sentence from him would brighten their days.

Yes, these were the Divine Hell Apes from the arena. The reason Hao Xuan wasn't so mad about losing such a large sum of money was because he got a couple of Divine beasts out of it. And for much MUCH cheaper at that.

Normally they wouldn't even be available for purchase with just Gold so him getting them with just 49.5 Billion gold was a huge deal. It might as well be free.

Back during the fight when he had used the last attack, even though it was extremely powerful but it was nowhere near enough to kill two divine beasts without even leaving behind a corpse.

One had to remember that Hao Xuan was only at Origin Realm Stage 1 while the beasts were at Stage 9. Even with all the suppression and powerups, he was no match for them.

Divine beasts meant that they had some special abilities. Just a single drop of divine blood was enough to let them fight higher realmed monsters without fear.

The last attack did seriously hurt them though. Although it wasn't fatal but it gave Hao Xuan enough of a window to run up to them and 'sever' their souls. Of course, they weren't expecting this at all and right after such a powerful attack at that.

Caught off-guard, he managed to successfully capture them both and then summoned them into his Mind palace to make it seem like they had died.

To sever someone's soul, they had to either allow it or let down their guard completely. If the 'victim' knew it was coming then the chances would reduce significantly.

That was why one had to normally beat the 'victims' to such a state that they wouldn't be able to put up any resistance at all.

"Your human forms, has the Beast Hall seen them?" he asked when he remembered. If the people of the beast hall knew then he wouldn't be able to use them recklessly.

"No, master. We were born in our original forms and never had the need to switch back. Also, switching to Human form indicates that we respect the opposite party, which was never the case," replied one of them.

"Good, very good. I'll think up of proper names for you guys later so, for now, you will be Green and you will be Red," he named them according to the color of their original bodies.

Having full control over them, he knew every single thing about them. Their body conditions, real forms, everything. The only thing he didn't know was their state of mind, which he didn't bother with much anyway.

Looking at them the smile on his face got brighter and brighter. Finally, he had managed to get some proper forces.

Even though the little snakes also had divine blood, but it was different. They were naturally born with it and did not inherit it from anyone else. Later on they would be able to become Divine Beasts with never seen before bloodlines and abilities.

And seeing how cute and cuddly they were, he didn't want to use them in combat anytime soon.

Green and Red would make the perfect henchmen in the meantime.

"I should get some humans too," he thought looking at the four in front of him.
