Chapter 43 - Breaking in Head On!

We did not go to check the conversation inside of the office. We knew that either that bull would be detained in the prison of the facility, or straight up killed here so we stood outside waiting.

Although I was feeling bad for this situation, the others could not really do anything in this situation. Even if Luke and the others went berserk here, they would be able to wipe out the evil in this base. But that would just be solving the symptoms and not the root of the issue.

Just in case, I made sure to check the movements inside the building with my spatial sensing. Seeing that they were leaving the room, I reminded everyone as they finally left the room with the bull still barely clinging on to life.

Since we were still hidden we were able to follow them all the way to where the map had labeled the imprisonment room. We had wanted to check out the place, especially after finding out that the base was under new leadership from the start. But the fact that we were hidden gave us a very sneaky advantage.

As long as someone else was also heading to that location, we could sneak into and infiltrate the prison without any worry. Thus we could cause mayhem in a place with fairly low security.

The only problem with this plan was that we did not know the actual situation within the prison. On the map it simply was shown as just an empty box. Thus we needed to sneak into the area in order to find out what was going on in there.

So we followed them into the prison. But just as we were heading there I noticed something unusual going on and quietly informed the others in a low voice.

"Hey, I noticed through my spatial awareness skill that there is also an invisible guy coming in as well. In addition, there are some hidden guards wandering around that look like upright lizards as well as the fact that the guards around the base are starting to be mobilized. Should we continue?" I asked.

Alarmed by the situation, Luke then told us that there would be a change of plans. It seems that returning the map did not rid these guys of their suspicions. Perhaps sending this bull to the prison in itself was a trap to catch people as well.

Since they are already preparing, we should take this opportunity where they did not know of our goal and purpose to release the prisoners in the prison.

Although there are most certainly also evil people among them, at least it would give the good guys in the prison a chance for them to either escape and send the news back while we can leave amidst the chaos along with the human prisoners kept in this place.

Because of the fact that no humans had been seen working here, the rest of the humans that the document spoke about were likely in hidden locations like the prison or in places like that watch tower. They seem to look down on humans as a race after all. So, we just needed to enter and check the place for humans before leaving.

Since we planned to break in anyways, I put away the cloak which led to us getting spotted by some of the guards within the base.

"Hey! Where did these guys come from? Put your hands in the air if you know what is good for you!"

Hearing the guard's voice, some of the hidden characters began to shift in place while the other infiltrator had cold sweat run down their back. But when they realized that it was someone else who was caught, they sighed in relief and used the opportunity to sneak into the base undetected.

The guard who had been alerted had arrived with some of his pals and began to look at us with rather disgusting expressions on our faces.

"Well look at who we have here! Some hairless apes who found their way to this place! Looks like those women haven't been used yet. Looks like we have a feast tonight, boys!"

Hearing this, the other guards cheered in place while we all looked at them with disgust.

"Guys, leave this to me." Wendy said.

Without giving anyone the time to react, a magic circle appeared in front of her aimed at the lecherous guard who was a less sneaky snake person. Before they could react, the spell that Wendy had casted had already been fired over to them.

"Water Cutter!"

Her spell shot out several compressed blades of water that quickly and quietly sliced through all of these foes and before they could react they all turned to mincemeat.

These guys were rather weak for someone on Wendy's level to take them down. Then again, she is a chosen member of the hero party. She has to be somewhat competent to be able to assist the hero in the chase to slay the demon king.

For demon standards, Wendy could be considered fairly competent, but that guard would be disgraceful if they were not a child in demon territory. After all, demons were naturally able to obtain Middle level skills and magic as they grew up. Unlike Humans and even beast folk who rarely are given such abilities through natural growth.

This has lead to the looking down of these races from the Demons for many eras. It was only ever the small minority of humans that demons had ever been worried about after all.

Although she cleanly cut them apart, the smell and look of the place was rather revolting. So I took the initiative to clean up the area with some void hands that I materialized. Although the spell did feel a little filthy afterwards so I cancelled the spell afterwards and rubbed my hands in discomfort.

"Are you alright?" Looking worriedly at me was Mellie who was worried that I was seeing decaying mangled flesh and blood for the first time and that I could be feeling uncomfortable.

"Don't worry, I have seen some uglier sights before. After all, I had been watching you guys for a while now." My response meant to comfort her only ended up resulting in her showing a wry smile.

"Was it something I said?" I asked myself. But I was ultimately unanswered as the others focused on breaking in to the prison now that we have revealed ourselves.

Anyways, with no one blocking us anymore, we headed straight towards the prison.

In the meanwhile, during the time we spent distracted by the guards, another intruder was making their way through the prison while we distracted the guards.

Hidden while clinging on to the walls, the gecko beast folk was carefully hiding his traces as he snuck around the brick walls of the base. Unbeknownst to this intruder, what was awaiting him was a rather harsh time.

Expecting the hidden guards to be paying attention to the commotion outside, he was too focused on his own infiltration plan that he did not notice a pair of eyes watching him in the dark.

"So I need to continue this way and head to the right hallway. I have already started walking on the right side of the wall so I just need to..." Whispering to himself, he was then left completely unaware till a foreboding feeling came over him.

"Dodge!"

Instinctively yelling out his words, he rolled off of the wall just in time as a few quiet needles had just clinked off of the stone like brick walls and clattered on to the ground. A small hissing noise appeared as the ground was then corroded by the unknown liquid layering the needle.

"Look at what we have here! A traitor amidst us! Are those troublemakers your friends Carl? You better hope that they are stronger than they look."

From the opposite wall, an eerie set of eyes emerged glowing a sinister dark gold color. The slit pupils of the attacker's eyes seemed to curve in amusement at his prey's predicament.

"Sam! You know what they all are! Why do you choose to submit to them!" The originally sneaking gecko exclaimed as he pulled out a small from the small pouch on his side.

Without answering, the lizard closed its eyes and alarm bells rang in the infiltrator's mind as he quickly dashed out of the spot he was in.

From the side, what looked to be another attacker had appeared as needles shot out from another location. But it was not in fact another attacker.

"Your clone technique is as outrageous as ever, brother."

Like the intruder had said, it was a special cloning technique trained by the assassin geckos of the beast folk race. It was a technique that was versatile in both offense and escape as it could let the user make misdirections and divert an enemy's attention from their true goal.

"Like you are to talk." Right as the lizard said that, it flicked needles at what seemed at first glance to be an empty space.

"Tsk, I knew you wouldn't fall for that." From that area targeted by those needles, the area distorted as the gecko moved quickly from its hiding space. The clone that was originally speaking was once again dissipated as the two now more focused than ever prepared for their inevitable clash.

The air grew still with tension as the two grew silent and hid amongst the shadows. Then, a quick clash of metal before both sides hid back in the darkness once more.

Silent clashes rang through the prison, not to be found by any others as they were already busy with what could be considered a bigger matter altogether.

"Light Bringer!"

Back to the main fight at hand, the situation was far more visibly fierce as Luke finally began to release his pent up anger among the guards arriving at present.

Compared to the rather subdued fight in the prison, the battle here resembled more of a war zone.

"Wow, it is always such a shock to see Luke when he goes all out like this!" Vanessa shouted as she bashed away a guard that tried to flank Luke.

In his hand was a large construct shaped like a sword made of light that shone like the sun within the rather dark corridors of the base, Inwardly saying apologies to whomever had the displeasure of having to fix up this base afterwards, I used my Void Hands wielding void swords to slice through the unsuspecting foes around me and Wendy.

Playing a more defensive role for her, I gave her the opportunity to focus on casting spells as Mellie responded to Vanessa's words.

"Of course, if he wasn't strong enough how could she catch the attention of the super stuck up princess~" Mellie quietly nudged her with her elbow as she was defending leading her to instinctively bash in the saber of the guard whom she was blocking.

"Knock it off! You know that I have long changed my ways!"

Disregarding the threat of the guards so playfully irritated the incoming guards, but they tried to remain calm and plan their attacks as they faced the combined might of the Hero party.

"Don't group up! That guy's magic can blast an area easily!"

"But how do we get past this shield guard, her defense is impeccable!"

"There must be some whole in their defenses! Try all kinds of different angles and you will eventually land a solid blow!"

From the back of the guards, one of them pulled out some throwing daggers and shot them towards the currently seemingly distracted priest only to encounter a barrier blocking the way.

"Di you really think I would be distracted while facing a group of enemies? How laughable! Golden Arrow!" Mellie who had blocked the sneak attack with a preprepared golden barrier, then created a golden bow and arrow made of light that shot towards the guard hidden in the back.

Before the guard could escape, the arrow pierced right through his neck preventing him from saying a thing. Seeing this gruesome sight as blood poured among the other guards, they all became far more distressed.

That would not be the end as Wendy had finally finished preparing her own spell to deal with this chaos.

"Whirling Vortex!"
