Chapter 1260: The Emperor Turns into a Dog

Imperial Concubine Shu was still in a daze, clearly not yet recovered.

“I’m not feeling well, so my mood caused me to shout at you. Come now, get up, the ground is cold and you are pregnant.” The Emperor decided and his demeanor grew more gentle, extending a hand to help Imperial Concubine Shu up.

Imperial Concubine Shu’s anxious heart was finally at ease.

She looked at the Emperor with worry, softly saying, “Emperor, you must take care of your health. Your servant and the child in my belly are very concerned about you.”

“I know, now go back and rest properly,” the Emperor said gently.

Imperial Concubine Shu nodded in agreement, lingeringly and reluctantly, took her leave.

Once Imperial Concubine Shu was far away, the Emperor’s expression darkened.

“Xue Pingyuan, if Imperial Concubine Shu comes again, tell her I am resting and cannot be disturbed, send her back, I know how to visit her,” the Emperor said coldly, then turned and went inside.

Leaving Eunuch Xue standing there, astonished. Who was Imperial Concubine Shu? She was the apple of the Emperor’s eye. But what was wrong with the Emperor today? His attitude towards Imperial Concubine Shu was unexpected?

After a while, the Empress Dowager left.

The Emperor ordered him to prepare the carriage, intending to go to the Empress’s palace.

Eunuch Xue’s eyes widened in shock.

It seemed this day was going to change.

When the Emperor arrived at the Empress’s palace, the Empress was happily playing with the Princess.

The Emperor looked at the little dog wagging its tail at his feet, puzzled. He was not in this body anymore, so now who inhabited this little dog’s body? Was it the original soul of the little dog?

The Emperor didn’t announce his visit, so when the Empress saw him standing in the courtyard, her heart skipped a beat, she hurriedly paid her respects, and all the palace attendants knelt in salute. Seeing the little dog lingering by the Emperor’s feet, the Empress’s heart was in her throat, fearing the Emperor might kick it, and this time it would be doomed.

The Empress was about to lead the Princess in greeting, but the Princess tilted her head towards the Emperor, suddenly showing a radiant smile.

“Father?” the Princess called out.

“Ah, Marzipan, come here, let Father hold you!” The Emperor squatted down, beckoning to the Princess.

The Princess happily ran forward, and the Emperor embraced her.

The Empress’s face looked as though she’d seen a ghost!

“Did you miss Father?” the Emperor asked the Princess with a smile.

“I did! Mother said Father is very busy, and when that tree grows as tall as me, Father would come to see me, but Father came today!” The Princess joyfully hugged the Emperor’s neck, chattering away.

“Father didn’t come to see you because Father was ill, but now Father is better and can visit Marzipan regularly.” The Emperor held the Princess and was about to enter the room, but the little dog circled around them.

“Really? That’s great!” the Princess shouted excitedly.

“Ah, is this Marzipan’s dog? It’s so cute.” The Emperor looked down at the little dog circling his feet and asked.

“It’s from the Grand Empress Dowager, I like it very much. But recently it was almost killed by a villain’s kick.” The Princess spoke with some grievance.

The Empress frantically gestured to the Princess, trying to stop her from saying more. The Empress thought that today the Emperor’s paternal affection unexpectedly caught on, coming to see Marzipan, but the Emperor’s favor towards Imperial Concubine Shu couldn’t be influenced by a mere dog, even if it was a gift from the Empress Dowager. Revealing the situation would bring no benefits to them.
