Tianmiao stood quietly at the edge of the pavilion, watching for a long time.

Until the Emperor spoke and interrupted her thoughts: "It’s late, time to go back. It looks like it’s going to rain soon."

"Ah?" Tianmiao snapped back to reality, finally feeling a slight chill, she nodded, "Then let’s go back. Your Majesty, please also return safely, take care of your health."

"You go first," the Emperor said.

"Okay." Tianmiao agreed.

The Chief Eunuch, with great tact, quickly called Tianmiao’s attendants over to escort her.

Watching Tianmiao’s silhouette disappear into the night, the Emperor stood up, but he wasn’t planning to return to the courtyard of Gushan Temple; instead, he was heading back to the palace overnight.

The Chief Eunuch glanced at the night sky, then recalled the Emperor’s attitude towards Princess Kang, and smacked his lips inwardly, feeling that a change was coming.

...

That night, it indeed started to rain.

In the morning, after waking up, Tianmiao stood by the window, looking at the lush, vibrant scenery outside. After the rain, Gushan Temple indeed presented a refreshing outlook.

After breakfast, Tianmiao brought her maids to the back mountain to prepare for mushroom gathering and bamboo shoot digging.

The maids were all very excited, chattering the whole way. Tianmiao leisurely walked behind, watching the excited maids, a smile appeared on her face. It seemed they hadn’t had such an outing in a long time, and seeing their vitality, Tianmiao’s mood also lifted.

Tianmiao eventually took a basket herself and started looking for mushrooms.

A young novice monk followed by Tianmiao’s side, guiding her and explaining along the way.

"Princess Kang, this mushroom is edible, that one is not. Although this mushroom is pretty, it is poisonous. The uglier the mushroom, the safer it is." The young monk earnestly explained to Tianmiao based on his understanding.

"This one isn’t edible? What a pity," Tianmiao looked at the colorful mushroom in her hand, and said regretfully.

"No, it’s not edible." The young monk nodded.

"How about this, I’ll pick some mushrooms myself first, and then you can help me sort out which ones can be eaten and which can’t," Tianmiao suggested.

"Alright. Princess Kang, just follow this path." The young monk nodded, understanding that the princess wanted to experience the fun of picking mushrooms herself, so he stood understandingly in place.

Tianmiao looked at the stone path ahead and once again marveled at the wisdom of Master Wu. After the rain, a dirt road would surely be muddy, which would ruin the mood of mushroom picking, but walking on such a smooth stone path was very pleasant.

However, it seems that Gushan Temple must have spent a lot of money on this.

Then again, the high officials and nobles who came attracted by its fame must have donated more incense money.

Gushan Temple surely managed to turn from loss to profit.

Thinking of this, Tianmiao suddenly felt a jolt in her heart, wondering why she was thinking about this. It was strange.

In the end, Tianmiao picked a basketful of mushrooms and dug up a few small bamboo shoots. But almost half of the mushrooms she picked were inedible.

The maids, on the other hand, had bountiful harvests; one even found wild eggs.

"Can these be eaten?" Tianmiao curiously examined the wild eggs she held up.

"Yes, they can be eaten." The young monk nodded.

"Then please bother the young master to have the kitchen prepare them for us. Let’s use all of these," Tianmiao said happily.

After the young monk left, Tianmiao began to "distribute rewards based on merit." As expected, Chun Lan, who found a nest of wild eggs, received the most, with a generous reward. When the other three maids thought they wouldn’t receive any reward, Tianmiao, smiling, rewarded them all, eliciting cheers from the maids.
