Chapter 348: Eclipse and Soul Fusion

Northern Universe, Shadow Citadel.

A vast, frozen tundra stretched endlessly beneath a sky dominated by a massive, shattered moon. Floating monoliths hovered in the air, tethered by invisible chains of gravity. A biting, soul-piercing wind howled across the plains, carrying shimmering motes of violet soul energy.

In the center of this desolate landscape, Aria stood alone.

Whoosh! Crackle!

A brilliant display of light and shadow intertwined around her slender frame. Radiant golden luminescence clashed and merged with abyssal darkness, creating a swirling vortex of power. Her dark violet hair whipped violently in the wind, and her eyes glowed with a fierce, dual-colored light.

BZZT!

A suffocating wave of soul force erupted from her core. The very air around her distorted as her soul sense expanded outward, crushing the frozen ground beneath her into fine powder. She was cultivating both the mana and soul paths simultaneously, a feat that would shatter the minds of ordinary cultivators.

Meanwhile, atop a distant floating monolith, two powerful figures observed her.

The woman had flowing violet hair that matched the aurora above, her eyes sharp and calculating. She was Vespera, the Shadow Guild Master. Beside her stood a male with striking purple hair, a glowing crescent moon mark etched onto his forehead, and intricate white runes coiling around his exposed arms and neck. He was Lord Noctis, the Eclipse Archon of the Shadow Citadel.

Noctis held a glowing palm diagram in his hand, the lines shifting like living constellations. He watched the lines intently before a slow, satisfied smile spread across his lips.

"It seems he has awakened," Noctis murmured, his voice carrying a melodic, echoing quality.

"The young master?" Vespera asked, her gaze shifting from Aria to the Archon.

"Yes. He has partially awakened his bloodline," Noctis confirmed, closing his hand and extinguishing the diagram.

Vespera looked back down at the cultivating Aria. "What about the girl? She’s progressing rather quickly. Can she keep up?"

Noctis smiled, his eyes gleaming with ancient knowledge. "If he continues down the path I have just predicted, we will have to hasten the girl’s training. Her only advantage is her soul cultivation due to her connection to the First General."

Vespera nodded slowly, her expression grim. "The tower should open in four to five years."

"Bring the young master there when it’s time," Noctis instructed, turning away from the edge. "For now, the Vorn family is a good place to temper him. The gravity of that dynasty will forge him into something magnificent."

Below them, Aria suddenly let out a sharp cry. AHHH!

BOOM!

The ground shattered in a fifty-meter radius. A pillar of pure soul energy erupted from her body, piercing the clouds and illuminating the shattered moon above. Her soul force condensed, solidifying into a terrifying, semi-physical aura.

She had broken through to the Peak Soul Condensation Realm.

The Thirteen Worlds, Vorn Estate — Astral Void Realm.

Back inside the ten-square-kilometer expanse of his Inner World, Kael sat cross-legged on the glassy void. The ambient dark light of the nebula above cast long shadows across his face.

Before him floated the Netherworld Soul Locking Flag.

"Come out," Kael commanded.

Whoosh! Whoosh! Whoosh!

With a wave of his hand, he projected all thirty-two souls stored within the flag outward. The air instantly grew heavy with the stench of death and the cacophony of wailing spirits.

Among the thirty-two, two stood out prominently. The soul of Draxos, the pureblood Asura Demon, radiated a terrifying, blood-red Wrath Intent. Beside him, the soul of Claudia, the Viper, coiled with sickly green poison energy. Both of them still retained a faint, flickering consciousness. Their eyes, though hollow, tracked Kael with undiluted hatred.

Kael smirked. "Don’t look at me like that. You’re just ingredients now."

He turned his attention to the remaining thirty souls. They were mostly Spirit Soul realm cultivators, beasts, and human cultivators. To him, they were practically useless as individual combatants. But Kael had recently discovered a new, terrifying trait of the Artifact Grade flag.

"System," Kael muttered. "Initiate Soul Fusion."

[Warning: Soul Fusion will permanently combine the weaker souls to birth a higher-tier entity. The original individual consciousnesses will be eradicated. Proceed?]

"Proceed."

Kael’s hands blurred as he formed a complex series of hand seals. His soul power, vast and dense from his recent breakthrough, poured into the flag.

RUMBLE!

The thirty weaker souls suddenly froze. Their wailing stopped, replaced by an eerie, synchronized silence.

"Fuse," Kael commanded, his eyes turning silver as his bloodline flared.

CRACK! SCREEEEE!

The souls were violently dragged toward the center of the formation. They slammed into each other, a chaotic mess of ethereal limbs, screaming faces, and raw energy. The sound was sickening—like bones grinding against bones, accompanied by the tearing of spiritual fabric.

Bang! Thud!

Kael gritted his teeth, sweating profusely. Maintaining the fusion required an immense, constant drain on his soul power. He channeled the Gra-Khazul Breath of the Deep Green, circulating the ancient technique to stabilize his core.

Three days passed in the Astral Void Realm.

For three days, Kael sat motionless, his hands locked in the seal. The chaotic mass of thirty souls spun violently, compressing tighter and tighter into a singularity of soul energy. The screaming eventually died down, replaced by a low, terrifying hum that vibrated the very fabric of the Inner World.

BZZZZT!

On the fourth day, a blinding flash of violet light erupted from the fusion sphere.

BOOM!

A shockwave rippled outward, forcing Kael to raise a shadow barrier to protect himself. When the light faded, a massive entity stood before him.

It was a humanoid soul construct, standing over three meters tall. It had no facial features, just a smooth, blank visage. Its body was composed of dense, interlocking spiritual armor, radiating a suffocating, Peak Spirit Soul realm aura.

Clank. The construct dropped to one knee, bowing its head in absolute submission to Kael.

Kael let out a long, exhausted breath, a smile spreading across his face. "As expected of an Artifact Grade treasure."

He waved the Netherworld Soul Locking Flag. Swish! The new Peak Spirit Soul construct, along with the subdued souls of Draxos and Claudia, were instantly sucked back into the flag.

Kael stood up, stretching his stiff muscles. In the Astral Void Realm, five days had passed. In the real world, only one day had gone by. The sun was likely just beginning to rise over the Vorn Estate.

"Time to meet the old man," Kael murmured, his eyes flashing with cold, calculated resolve.

With a thought, his consciousness shot upward. The Astral Void Realm dissolved into a flash of violet light, and Kael opened his eyes in the physical world.

He stood up from the floor of his mansion, dusting off his dark robes. The game was about to begin.
