The Darkness System: Rise of the Broken Sovereign
Chapter 323: Raging, Mindless Kael
Kael moved.
WHOOSH.
Lightning speed—beyond anything he had demonstrated before. The Void Core’s Peak Spirit Soul aura flooded his pathways, the Heart of the Carnage Deity burning his slaughter energy at ten times its normal density, and the Astraeon bloodline’s primordial darkness amplifying everything to a level that defied his actual cultivation. The combination created a speed that shouldn’t exist at his level.
He appeared in front of Claude—FLASH—his black eyes staring into the masked face from inches away. Claude’s eyes widened behind his mask—WIDEN—his perception barely registering the movement before Kael was already there.
The Demonic Asura Flame burst from Kael’s palm—FWOOOM—a concentrated eruption of purple-black primordial fire, condensed to a point, aimed directly at Claude’s chest. The heat alone distorted the air between them—WARP—space itself seeming to bend under the flame’s intensity.
Claude teleported—FLASH—vanishing a fraction of a second before the flame struck. The fireblast scorched the air where he had been—HISS—leaving a void of superheated atmosphere.
But Kael didn’t stop.
In his raging, mindless state, something operated beneath the surface of his consciousness. His soul sense—120 meters of perception—tracked the spatial disturbance Claude’s teleportation left behind. The faint ripple in space, the residual energy signature, the directional pull of the teleportation’s exit point. All of it registered in Kael’s soul space without conscious thought.
Kael appeared where Claude materialized—FLASH—70 meters to his left. Claude had barely reformed—SHIVER—his body still phasing back into physical space when Kael was already there, his palm already raised.
Another Asura Flame burst—FWOOM—point blank, giving him no room to dodge and no time to teleport.
The explosion was devastating—BOOOOM—a sphere of purple-black fire expanding outward, consuming everything within thirty meters. The ground vaporized—CRACKLE—everything reduced to nothing. The shockwave flattened trees—CRACK—sent boulders flying—WHIZ—and carved a crater into the earth.
Claude emerged from the explosion—STAGGER—his black mask cracked, smoke rising from his body. Burns covered his arms and shoulders—SIZZLE—his robes singed to tatters. Dark blood dripped from his fingers—DRIP—the Demonic Asura Fire’s primordial nature had bypassed his passive devouring defense, burning him before his bloodline could adapt.
"DRAXOS!" Claude shouted, his calm composure cracking for the first time. His dark eyes—visible through the cracked mask—were wide with something he hadn’t felt in decades. Fear. "Why are you just watching? Get down here and help me!"
Draxos chuckled from his position in the sky. His true demon form loomed, his dark red eyes watching the battlefield with the detached amusement.
"Fine," Draxos said, his voice rumbling like distant thunder. His body morphed further—SHIFT, CRACK—his muscles swelling, his exoskeleton armor thickening, bone greatswords materializing in each of his four hands—HUMMM, HUMMM—four massive blades, each radiating demonic energy.
He burst toward Kael—WHOOSH—who was already rushing toward Claude. Kael’s black eyes shifted—TURN—tracking Draxos’s approach with his soul sense. He twisted mid-stride, raised both of his hand, and fired two powerful lightning strike—CRACKLE, FWOOOM—a concentrated bolt of blue-white electricity screaming toward Draxos and Claude.
Draxos swung a greatsword to deflect—CLANG—but the lightning wasn’t a physical projectile. It was pure energy, pure rule power. It struck his greatsword, traveled through the blade, through his arm, and burst—ZAP—into his shoulder. Dark blood sprayed—SPLAT—the lightning burning through his exoskeleton armor.
Meanwhile, Claude tried to devour the lightning’s residual energy—GULP—his bloodline pulling at the electricity. But the lightning, infused with Lightning Rule Power, was too dense as it was also infused with primordial darkness. It burst through his devouring void—CRACK—and pierced his shoulder—SLUHK—a hole opening in his flesh.
"Damn it!" Claude hissed, clutching his shoulder.
Draxos appeared behind Kael—WHOOSH—four greatswords descending simultaneously. Kael turned—SPIN—his black eyes registering the attack. Instead of dodging, he raised his palm and fired a powerful blast of corrosive darkness—FWOOM—Darkness amplified by the Astraeon bloodline.
The darkness met the greatswords—SCREEEE—corrosive energy eating through the demonic bone. Draxos’s eyes widened as two of his greatswords began dissolving—MELT—he released them, backpedaling—SKRT. The blast struck his chest—BOOM—sending him flying—WHOOSH—crashing through a hillside—CRASH.
Kael turned back to Claude.
Multiple Pulsar orbs formed around Kael—HUMMM, HUMMM, HUMMM—six spheres of compressed gravitational energy, each one spinning, growing denser. They floated around his body like satellites, orbiting his form.
Claude’s eyes tracked the orbs. He teleported—FLASH—reappearing forty meters away. A Pulsar followed—WHOOSH—homing in on his energy signature. He teleported again—FLASH—another Pulsar followed. Again—FLASH—and again—FLASH.
Each teleportation consumed his mana. Each Pulsar tracked him relentlessly. The Devouring Spirit Clan’s greatest weakness was their innate mana capacity. Their bloodline allowed them to steal abilities, but the storage of multiple abilities strained their mana reserves.
The teleportation spam was bleeding him dry.
Draxos charged from behind—WHOOSH—recovered, enraged, his remaining two greatswords trailing dark red Wrath Intent. Kael didn’t turn. A Pulsar orb detached from its orbit and fired backward—FWOOM—striking Draxos in the chest—BOOM—the gravitational explosion slowing his charge.
But Draxos pushed through—RARGH—his Body Manipulation reinforcing his frame, his Wrath Intent shielding his core. He swung—CLANG—Kael caught the blade with his gauntlet—SPARK—the Impact Nullification absorbing the kinetic force. Kael’s other hand grabbed Draxos’s wrist—GRIP—and darkness surged through his palm, corrosive energy eating at Draxos’s flesh—HSSS.
Draxos roared, ripping his arm free—RIP—flesh tearing. He headbutted Kael—CRACK—the impact sending Kael staggering.
Claude attacked from the right—FWOOM—a blast of devoured darkness. Kael raised his hand, absorbing it with his own Devouring Darkness—GULP—and returned it doubled—FWOOM—the amplified energy striking Claude’s side—BOOM—launching him.
Both combatants converged on Kael simultaneously. Draxos from the left, Claude from the right. Four greatswords, devoured abilities, bone spikes, density manipulation, Wrath Intent—the combined assault was overwhelming.
