The Dark Rebirth of Pandora: Revenge of the Abyss

Chapter 757: The Goddess of Death Part 1

  • Next Chapter

"Hmmm..." I watch the three aspects of Pandora vanish, and something curious crosses my mind. The Yandere Pandora is something born from Pandora’s own body, which means that if Mama Echidna hadn’t placed our soul in this body and instead created a partially empty soul for her to take control...

The Yandere Pandora would have been the being controlling the body from the very beginning. I wonder if there’s some timeline where that happens, or does Echidna always consider me the better option?

"Wow!!" I fall into a hole in space that I create. My teleportation between universes is like a hole where I keep sinking while countless portals are created and I keep falling through them.

"Where should I go?! Considering I’m the Goddess of Death... ooohh!!! I know, I want to see him! The King of the Blood Ocean!!" The hole between universes opens up, sending me to the King of the Blood Ocean. I seek out the one from the original timeline, entering his dimension.

"..." My body plummets from the portal into the sea of blood as I move upward toward the surface. This is where Thalor was sent to die. Considering my position, I could retrieve fragments of him for a conversation if I wanted to.

"Red King!! I want to talk to you!! It’s me!! Pandora!! We made a deal before — well, another Pandora did! We sent a traitor to die in this place!!!" I call out to him cheerfully as I look down.

I see a shadow circling far below, but I can’t make out what it is even with my vision being so perfect.

"[What do you desire here, Goddess of Death?]"

"Ohhhh!! You recognize me?"

"[This is not your timeline. How can you be here without being killed?]"

"Hehehe, I’m way stronger than any time guardian created by Oriane!! I’m level 100 trillion!!" I grin excitedly. I’m a being stronger than any of the avatars Oriane has created in the present day.

"[I see.]"

"Buuuh, you’re so cold. I thought you’d be more aggressive or chaotic."

"[I am an entity of contracts. I live by agreements. If I were aggressive, no one would make deals with me.]"

"Ohohoho, interesting. So that means for the right price, you’d do anything?"

"[I do not accept anything that could kill me. Other than that, I accept anything.]"

"Incredible!! Wait, what did you charge the other Pandora in the past to consume Thalor?"

"[220.]"

"220?" I get confused by that number.

"[The price was 220.]"

"...Okay... I have no idea what that means!! But whatever. Here’s the thing, partner! What happened to Thalor after he was trapped in the blood ocean?" I ask him as he circles down below without rising to the surface.

"[Normally I would never disclose anyone’s contracts, but since the contract was with another version of you, I believe this falls within the terms. Thalor was tortured to serve as energy for me until his soul was exhausted and he died.]"

"I see. A fitting death for a traitor. Hahaha, it’s kind of funny — what was his goal again? I don’t even remember anymore. Anyway, I guess it doesn’t matter."

"[You came here just for that?]"

"Hold on, big guy, don’t piss me off. I came for a lot more than just finding out about some traitor. Don’t make me decide that today is the end of your life. You seem to already know exactly the space I occupy!"

"[...]"

"Well, well, nothing escapes death!"

"[Your universe was destroyed, wasn’t it? Is that why you’re like this?]" When he says that, something inside me seems to ignite, as if he’d hinted at something specific that I’m not yet sure of but that frustrates me.

"What are you referring to?" My tone shifts completely — colder, more practical, more irritated than usual. It reminds me of how I was before I started going crazy.

"[I am a unique being, even when considering those from other timelines. Your current state is poor. You seem to have lost everything you loved. You seem obsessed with finding something.]"

"...You’re too clever for your own good."

"[I need to be in order to obtain contracts. Without constant contracts, it’s only a matter of time until my death. That’s why I know a great deal about someone just by looking at them, especially when they enter my domain.]"

"...I see. A type of temporary domain that grants you privileges for contracts. What a pathetic ability, worthy of a worm that crawls through blood seeking scraps to survive."

"This stopped being fun." I point my hand toward the depths where he’s circling. It’s not amusing anymore. I avoided thinking about this for a long time, but the Omnipotent Pandora only let me live.

She erased Zephyra, Mikael, Grimm, Mama Echidna my older sister. All of those are losses that not even I can recover because they were erased by an omnipotent being. All that’s left to me is the pathetic attempt to evolve to a level where I would become the death that governs the entire multiverse. Right now, I’m a goddess of death with no dominion over death at all because my universe vanished.

"[W-Wait! You’re going to kill me? Just because you didn’t like concrete facts? How unjust. At least allow me the chance to live under a contract.]"

"Ahhh... I’d forgotten how TRASH you visitors from other universes are..." Both the Stars and the King of the Red Ocean — they’re both trash that came from other universes because their own universes could no longer sustain them, whether because it ended or because they fled.

"Yeah, most of you are trash..." I bite my lips. My universe ended too, and even though I’m not wandering around just to survive, I’m still not in a boat that’s all that different.

"Shit... okay, you bastard, I’ll propose something to you then. You choose whether you want to die for pissing me off, or whether your miserable life is worth more than that." I feel so frustrated. Other Pandoras are worse off than me, but many are better off than me. Why couldn’t I have done well in life too? It’s so damn frustrating to be among the ones who got screwed.

And all because of that damned scaly whore. If it weren’t for Delphina, I could have had a better future. If she hadn’t been so arrogant and had fallen in love with me, I would have had the support I needed to help me learn what I needed to free myself from that damned tentacle woman in the abyss.

"[What do you want from me?]" he asks, while I decide that if I’m screwed, without my loved ones, and I don’t even have my universe anymore, then I’m going to screw up his life too. 𝘧𝓇ℯℯ𝑤ℯ𝘣𝓃ℴ

"I want you to be a girl. To travel with me. To be my toy for me to vent my hatred whenever I need to. If you can’t do that, you can die right here and now."

"[...So be it. But I want more than just my life being spared for this. This request demands that I leave the blood ocean, which means no more contracts. So you will have to keep me alive. Do we have a deal?]"

"Whatever. I’m going to screw up your life for no reason at all just because mine is screwed! So hurry up and become my new damn whore and let’s go find something fun to do."

"[Childish, wounded, desperate, and sad. Completely different from the Original Pandora... how pitiful and broken you are.]"

"What did you say?!" He’s far below in this ocean of blood and spoke too quietly for me to hear.

"[Nothing.]"
