Chapter 655 - Feast In Wintermere Palace
Mars introduced his cousin, Ethos, to Emmelyn when they arrived at the governor's palace. Emmelyn thought Ethos look like his brother, Athos, but with a very different personality.
Ethos Greenan was much younger and he seemed more interested in books than politics. Seeing how beautiful and well-maintained her former palace was under Ethos's care, Emmelyn felt happy.
She already forgave Mars' family for the invasion they did to her country, and now she could see that three years after the invasion, Wintermere was actually thriving under Ethos' leadership.
So, coming to Wintermere this time as the wife of the king, Emmelyn felt no resentment seeing someone else living in her family's old residence.
She already made a new home in the capital with her husband and daughter. She had left that home for a long time, and now she couldn't wait to go back and rebuild her life with the man she loved and their children.
"It's a pleasure to meet you, Your Majesty." Ethos bowed down politely when he met Emmelyn. "It must be such a tiring journey. I have prepared nice chambers for you all to rest and we will celebrate your visit with a feast."
"It's nice to meet you, too, Lord Ethos," Emmelyn nodded a little. "I have met your older brother. You look just like him."
"Really? I am sure, I am more handsome than him, but that's not important," Ethos said jokingly. "I haven't seen my brother for a long time. So, I am happy to know that we still look similar."
Emmelyn laughed a little when she heard Ethos's words. She decided that she liked this man. After talking with Ethos a little bit more, she felt relieved that her beloved country was led by someone educated with visions for his people.
When she expressed her thoughts to Mars after they reached their chamber to rest, her husband looked happy and relieved to know Emmelyn had accepted the fact that Wintermere was now part of Draec, and she even showed her approval for Ethos to keep working as the governor in Wintermere.
"I am happy to know that," Mars said with a smile. He pulled his wife into his embrace and kissed her forehead lovingly. "I have planned to build a new palace for you in the capital. I will name it Wintermere Palace. To always remind us that you are from Wintermere but you have a home in Kingstown."
Emmelyn looked at her husband with a smile on her face. Wintermere Palace? She liked that very much.
"That's wonderful," she gushed. "I love you."
"Well... I planned to build that when I thought you died. So, Harlow could know everything about you and remember that you came from a beautiful small kingdom by the sea called Wintermere. I also planted many wintermere flowers in the garden, ready for winter," Mars explained.
"Whaa... you are so thoughtful," Emmelyn was so touched when she heard that. "I am lucky because I marry the right man. You know how to love me properly."
Mars smiled when he heard Emmelyn compliment him. Ahh.. he would do anything for her. Seeing her happy was already a reward for him.
"I'll do my best, honey..." Mars kissed her on the lips and grinned happily. "I'll always do my best."

They had a nice rest before attending the feast in the banquet hall. Ethos invited the nobles from many important houses in Wintermere so they could see the king and the queen who happened to be a Wintermerian.
Initially, the houses that were left after the invasion felt a bit worried to see Emmelyn because they had sworn loyalty to the oppressor.
Some of them thought the former Wintermere princess might think these nobles betrayed her family when they decided to bend the knee and willingly become part of Draec.
Fortunately, their worry was baseless, because Emmelyn understood their situation and didn't blame them for starting their new life under Draec after Wintermere was defeated. She thought that was what war did to people.
So, she shouldn't take it personally when she met the noblemen and noblewomen from her homeland who were now part of Draec. She was no different from them. If she kept thinking of Draec and the Strongmoors as the enemy, then she would never move on with her life.
"Your Majesty, we are very honored to see you in Wintermere," said Lord Langley with a big smile when they arrived in the banquet hall. Emmelyn still recognized the red-haired burly man as someone who often came to the court when she was much younger.
"Lord Langley, how are you?" Emmelyn nodded at the man. She noticed the lord was accompanied by a really beautiful and elegant young woman, standing beside him with a meek expression. "Is this Clara? I haven't seen her for years. She has grown up."
"Ahh.. Your Majesty still remembers my little daughter," Lord Langley looked elated. "She just turned eighteen last month. When you left, she was only fourteen."
"Wha... yes, I remember. Wow... she has turned into a beautiful young woman," Emmelyn complimented. She looked at Clara and thought the young girl was too shy. "Hello, Clara. Nice to meet you."
Clara looked up at Emmelyn's face and smiled shyly. She remembered to curtsey before opening her mouth to greet Emmelyn. "Your Majesty. Welcome back in Wintermere."
"Thank you, Clara, Lord Langley," Emmelyn replied. She turned to her small group and decided to introduce her husband and their friends to Lord Langley. "You already know my husband. Well, these are our friends. This one is Kira, Gewen, and Edgar."
Clara turned to those people behind Emmelyn and smiled sweetly at them. However, when her eyes caught sight of Edgar, she was suddenly stunned.
