{Third Person}

Amara remained rooted to the spot for a second. Then her eyes lowered unconsciously to the wrist he had just held.

For some reason, she could still feel the warmth of his hand. Before she had time to dwell on the strange feeling, he had already reached the pavement ahead.

He turned slightly. "Coming?"

She quickly nodded. "Yes." She hurried after him.

---

The small bell above the entrance chimed softly as they entered the ice cream shop.

The cool air inside immediately greeted them.

Rows of colourful flavours stretched behind the display glass, each one labelled neatly in polished lettering.

Alexander glanced toward Amara. "Choose whichever flavours you like."

Her eyes brightened almost instantly. "I can choose more than one?"

"If you want."

For the next several minutes, Amara carefully studied every flavour before finally settling on two.

The shop assistant smiled as she prepared the order and handed it over.

Amara accepted it happily. It was only after taking the first bite that she noticed something. Alexander had not ordered anything.

She glanced up at him. "...Aren’t you having one?"

He shook his head. "I’m not interested."

She looked down at her ice cream before looking back at him. Without thinking too much about it, she lifted it slightly toward him.

"You don’t have to be interested in the good things in life before trying them."

He stared at the ice cream, then at her.

Standing in the middle of a busy store he had no intention of eating from the same ice cream she was holding.

It’s not like he disliked the idea, but because they were out in public.

So very gently, he placed two fingers against the back of her hand and lowered it. "Next time," he said with a composed voice. "I will try it next time."

Amara released a small breath. She had expected another refusal, but in the end, he had promised to try it another day.

A small smile quietly appeared on her lips. "...Alright." She withdrew her hand and continued eating.

Alexander watched her for only a moment before looking toward Jasper. "Put the bags in the car."

"Yes, Your Highness." Jasper immediately obeyed.

When everything had been loaded into the vehicle, Alexander opened the rear door for Amara. She climbed inside while still enjoying her ice cream.

After he took his seat beside her, the driver started the engine once again.

As the car pulled away from the shopping district, Amara looked toward Alexander with quiet curiosity.

"Are we going home now?"

He shook his head. "We are not." Secretly, he liked the fact that she used the word ’Home’.

Alexander looked out through the window at the passing streets.

Amara wanted to ask another question, but in the end, she simply smiled to herself and leaned back against her seat.

Whatever destination he had planned next... She found herself looking forward to it more than she cared to admit.

---

The drive gradually took them away from the busy shopping district.

Outside the window, the streets slowly became quieter as rows of shops gave way to open spaces and gently sloping roads lined with old oak trees.

The further they travelled, the fewer pedestrians Amara saw. The noise of the city faded behind them until only the soft hum of the car remained.

She looked out through the window curiously before turning to Alexander. "We’re leaving the city?"

"Not quite." That was all he said.

She kept to herself. She had already learned that once Alexander decided not to explain something, asking a second time rarely produced a different answer.

Several minutes later, the car slowed before climbing a gently winding road.

At the very top stood a quiet overlook enclosed by a simple stone railing. A handful of wooden benches had been placed beneath several large trees, making it an ideal place to rest while looking down over the city below.

The driver brought the car to a stop. Then Jasper stepped out first and opened the rear door.

Alexander got out before turning slightly toward Amara. "We’re here."

She followed him out.

The moment her feet touched the ground, a cool breeze greeted her, carrying with it the fresh scent of grass and wildflowers.

She instinctively lifted her head. Then she froze. Spread out beneath the hill was the entire Werewolf City.

From this height, the roads looked like ribbons weaving between rows of brick buildings, while countless rooftops stretched as far as the eye could see.

Thin trails of smoke rose lazily from chimneys, and the afternoon sun had already begun its slow descent, bathing everything in a soft golden light.

For several long moments, Amara simply stood there without speaking.

Alexander quietly watched her reaction. He had brought her here because he remembered something she had once said.

She preferred quiet locations—places with fewer people where she could just breathe freely.

Seeing the quiet wonder in her eyes now, he knew he had made the right choice.

Amara slowly walked toward the stone railing. She rested both hands lightly upon it and looked out across the city once again.

"It’s beautiful..." Her voice was little more than a whisper.

Alexander stepped forward until he was standing beside her. "It is."

The breeze gently stirred a few loose strands of Amara’s hair across her face. Without realizing it, she smiled.

"This city looks completely different from up here."

"It does." He agreed with her.

She continued gazing into the distance. "I never imagined there were places like this."

He folded his hands behind his back. "There are many."

They both watched the view in comfortable silence, the kind that did not ask to be filled. There was no awkwardness between them.

As the sun sank lower, the golden light gradually deepened into shades of amber and crimson. One by one, lamps throughout the city began to glow, their warm lights slowly replacing the fading daylight.

Amara watched in quiet fascination. "It almost looks like the stars are appearing on the ground first."

Alexander followed her gaze toward the city below. After a brief pause, he said quietly, "I used to come here when I wanted to think."

There was no emotion in his voice. He stated it as though it were the simplest fact in the world.

She rested her gaze on him, then turned to look back toward the city. "I think..." She smiled softly. "...I understand why."

His eyes drifted toward her. The evening breeze continued to play gently with her hair as she stood there, completely absorbed in the view before her.

There was a quiet contentment about her that he had rarely seen during their time inside the palace.

She truly looked at ease.

His gaze lingered for only a moment before returning to the horizon.

Neither of them noticed how much time had gone by until Jasper came closer from a respectful distance.

"Your Highness."

Alexander looked back.

"The sun will be setting completely soon," he reminded.

Alexander gave a slight nod. "We should head back."

Amara reluctantly tore her eyes away from the view. As they began walking back toward the car, she glanced over her shoulder one last time.

Quietly, almost to herself, she said, "...Thank you."

Alexander heard her, but did not respond immediately. It was only after opening the car door for her did he say, "I’m glad you liked it."

Amara looked up at him, surprised. Then a gentle smile spread across her face. "So am I."

She stepped into the car, carrying with her the memory of the sunset, and without realising it, the quiet certainty that today had become one of her happiest days since arriving in the Werewolf Kingdom.
